Pros +
- Wallackhaus is in a stunning location overlooking highway 107 that follows the historic Romanweg over the high mountain pass. The rooms are nicely appointed in a mountain resort/Austrian/Scandinavian style with comfortable beds and other nice features. Food and drink is provided using an economic and innovative “self service” concept that allows the hotel to maintain their very reasonable room rates. The hotel has a beautiful spa facility along with multiple places for guests to relax and enjoy the Mountain Views. Staff are friendly, helpful and considerate. All in all an excellent stay!
- Good location, good beverage and breakfast selection.
- Oh, we absolutely loved everything about it. But if we had to point out, it would be the cleanliness, the smell of the conditioner, the hardwood floor and the sauna! We went there late and it was still open. No hotels had ever been open til late in the night as this property.
Cons -
- We loved absolutely everything about it. What a thoughtful place.
- I won’t ever go back because of the clumsy check-in service that’s done online to eliminate a front desk staff member. Thankfully, one of the cooks came out and made a phone call and at least got me the key. 40 minutes of waiting and fumbling around with their login system is unacceptable.
- The rooms are old, need renovation for sure.

Location, food, service, and spa was very good

It was such an experience to spend the night at the High Alpine Road. The dinner was decent, staff was helpful. We could hit the road early to avoid crowds.
The rooms are old, need renovation for sure.
The hotel is on the main road and location is breathtaking. The rooms are nice, spacious and clean. Dinner and breakfast was not only delicious but pretty to look at.
Room with beautiful mountain view. Very surprisingly clean for a mountain property. Available draft beer at affordable price.
It is still about 20 minutes to drive to the glacier. The check-in time is a narrow window. I made it in time but you will be left on the street if you arrive late after 6 PM. Dinner time also has a short window.
Friendly staff, good diner
The room was end-of-life and requires some renovations (night lamp hangs loose, door handle of bathroom not synchronized...)
Exceptional place to stay! Everything smelled so clean, the food was delicious and the staff were so friendly. Then there is the view!!! So glad we found this place.
Nothing to say
This is an amazing location along the spectacular Grossglockner Alpine scenic highway. It makes you feel on top of the world surrounded by alpine peaks. The hotel was one of the most unique experiences we have ever had. We got the half board rate with breakfast and dinner included and the food was excellent. Gourmet coffee, tea and water with flavored syrups were included and available 24/7. Then there was assorted beer and wine, snacks, sumptuous deserts and some of the best ice cream ever that you could get 24/7 by using a automated self serve kiosk. Each room was given a card to scan to purchase items and it was charged at checkout. It was a system built on honesty. They have a outstanding wellness area including 2 saunas, a relaxation room and a jacuzzi. There was also an activity room with ping pong, foosball and darts. The rooms were simple but very clean and comfortable with most having mountain views. The staff was very helpful in our inability to speak the local language. We had toured for 12 days and this hotel was the highlight for our group of 5.
That we had to leave
Perfect StuffLocation - perfect place amazing sunsetsSelf service breakfast with big choice of the food. Nice view from window, size of the room is sufficientTasty Coffee, Tea, water - for free.
Really nice and great staff! Really good food and self service of coffee & tea FoC! Great location.
Maybe to organise possible evening trop to village at least once a week?
This is the BEST Refugio! 3 gondola rides and then they pick you up in a snowmobile to get to the lodge which is so cozy. The food is lovely and the view from every room is gorgeous. We loved the wellness room and they were so nice!!
Can’t think of a single thing! Bring a good book, coloring book for kids and a fun game!
Incredible setting in the middle of nowhere with all the comforts of home. Beautiful views. Good home cooking.
There wasn't anything not to like.
Outstanding staff, food, location! Thank you for a wonderful and memorable stay!
Excellent location, extremly friendly and understanding staff! Free tea, coffee and water 24/7. Wide selection for breakfast to satisfy from adult to children. 4 course dinner with an A and B main course to chose from and if the selection is not really child friendly then they have a C selection child friendly option!
Playroom not having toys for toddlers.
I loved the set up with the meals and self service. The hotel is beautiful, better than the photos, everywhere are amazing views. An exrodinary place to stay, I wish we could have stayed longer.
The only thing that was missing was a mini fridge in the room. We had to throw out a lot of travel food, and some medications need to be stored in the fridge. Otherwise, everything was perfect ?
Location was fantastic and so close to continue with the Grossglockner alpine route. Food great both breakfast and evening meal.
A little slow on checking out..we had to ask twice for receptionist to attend fir our checkout ad reception unmanned at 8.30am
Location was amazing, food was excellent, but a bit too salty for us. Staff was great, loved the beverage dispenser system.
Can’t think of anything
