- Gotyk House has a fantastic location in the heart of the old town in Gdańsk, and the atmosphere and décor really add to its charm and historic feel.
Cons -
- The construction noise inside the hotel started at about 7am. Couple this with people talking on the street until late at night (which is easily heard In The room), the sleep quality was low.
- Rooms are small but what would you expect in a centrally located house over 500 years old.
- The room was quite small, and the beds were on the smaller side, which affected comfort a bit.

This is perfectly located in Old Town. Comfortable, clean, and historic.
Since this is a historic landmark, there is constant tourist activity around. It's also situated on a heavily traveled footpath to the main street, so it can be very noisy if your window is open, but the windows are very well sound proofed when closed.
Our 3-night stay at Gotyk House was pleasant overall, and we appreciated its charm and unique character. The building itself is beautiful and located on a picturesque street right next to the church and just a short walk from the old town, the riverfront, the main pedestrian area, and public transportation. The room was clean and spacious, the bed was comfortable, and the space looked exactly like the photos online. We also liked the pull shades on the skylights, which helped on mornings we wanted to sleep in. Since there’s no lift, we expected the walk up several flights of stairs. There were, however, a few things that would have made the stay more comfortable for travelers. The entryway would benefit from a more practical layout—hooks for coats or a dedicated space for shoes would have made it feel more welcoming. The glass-enclosed bathroom, while pictured in the photos, felt awkward in practice. When the towel warmer was on, the room became extremely warm. The curtain intended for privacy wasn’t very effective, so we left it open. We also didn’t discover the coffee and tea supplies until the end of our stay because they were stored inside a cabinet we never opened.A small trash bin in the bedroom area (upstairs) would have been helpful, as the only bin was downstairs in the bathroom. USB plugs or outlets near the bed would also have been appreciated. Our biggest issue, though, was the WiFi—it was slow, frequently disconnected, and made it difficult to book tours or check in for our flight. Reliable internet is essential while traveling, so this was frustrating.None of these issues made our stay unpleasant, but they did add up. Overall, we enjoyed visiting Gdansk, but Gotyk House felt more pretty than practical, and while it has plenty of charm, it probably wouldn’t be our first choice if we returned.
Spotty WiFi was frustrating
Beautiful, clean, modern, comfortable and spacious apartment in a charming and convenient part of Old Town Gdańsk - highly recommend!
No complaints!
Lovely hotel, comfortable room; the hotel is in an old building but it’s nicely modernized. Helpful staff. Perfect location, near the square and walkable to the old town, solidarity museum, and close to the canal and granary island.
No complaints. We purchased the breakfast our first day because we were unfamiliar with the location. Breakfast is provided in a Mexican restaurant next door. It was a good breakfast but better value (and Polish specialties) can easily be found on the market square, which is just a few steps from the hotel.
Excellent location in historic building staff was helpful. Be aware front desk is not manned 24 hours but access to rooms makes that unnecessary. Mexican restaurant Muerte affiliated with hotel was surprisingly good.
The location is excellent, and the room was quite comfortable. The ensuite bathroom was large and spacious, something we were pleasantly surprised to have after travelling for a few weeks. Overall, we had a pleasant experience and enjoyed staying at this accommodation.
The linens, however, had a weird smell to them and the towels had spots on them that made them look either unwashed or already used and re-folded. The front desk staff was generally unpleasant to deal with, although it may have been due to a language barrier. The license plate of the car service offered by the hotel was also unsettling (KKK88) …
The location could not be better! Staff was friendly and helpful. We did not eat breakfast but it was available for a fee. Bed was very comfortable.
One morning there was no hot water.
Great location, historical building, cozy room.
The made-up the room during my stay wasn’t really a made-up! The bed wasn’t made, it was exactly in the same look when we left the room and returned in the evening. The trash bin in bathroom was still full of trash!! They simply put cleaned towels on the bed and gave 2 bottles of water.
Best location in GdańskEverything you need on your doorstep
With windows open a bit busy on a Friday night but closed you couldn't hear a peepThe air-conditioner beeped every time it came back on which was often throughout the night. Might be able to change settings but didn't know how.
The location is perfect. The attitude of the receptionists was excellent and they helped with the luggage to and from our second floor room (no lift). Breakfast in the attached Mexican style bar was fine - with individually paid items as opposed to a buffet choice. Had the granola with fruits and yog which was large and excellent. It was a great base for a very special visit to an enchanting old town.
Not the hotel's fault (more the Waze sat nav's) but finding it by car was a pain. There are limited entry points to the area closed off to cars without permits which the hotel provides. It might help for the hotel to offer a map with directions. Maybe that was just our bad luck. Finally it worked out very well with convenient confirmed parking.
Etchings of old Gdansk on the walls of the staircase. The rest was unbearable
I booked this hotel for its location in the historic building on Mariacka Street — only to find out my room was in a new building around the corner. The “24/7 reception” claim on Q&A is false; there is no night check-in, only self-entry instructions.Breakfast is not available in this hotel. The only option they offer is in a Mexican restaurant next door opens at 9:00. In the room, there’s no coffee machine — just instant coffee without cream, no hair conditioner, no body lotion. The air conditioner, which turned on and off by itself every two hours at night, was annoying. The street was extremely noisy — people walking, laughing, talking, shouting all night and all morning, motorcycles passing by. A day before arrival, they messaged me asking if I wanted my room decorated with balloons. What a joke ?
Perfect location right next to St. Mary church and old town. Parking (extra charge) was close by. Extremely cute building and units.
We were aware and not disappointed, but be aware there is no elevator and that the rooms are small (reflecting the location and time period). It is part of the experience.
Clean, modern Apartments
I had to take my multiple 32kg luggage without an elevator to the 4th floor!
My 16year old daughter and I walked in to Gotyk House and immediately felt comfortable. The room was beautiful with a be
Perfect location - could see the cathedral through the window from bed. Lovely decor, charming area overall. Everything you want to see in Gdansk is right there or just around the corner. Good value for money in terms of location and charm.
Water in shower was never really hot, only lukewarm at best. We decided against breakfast from the attached restaurant -, the Mexican theme didn’t really seem to go with the vibe in the area. But there is a charming cafe just around the corner, near the Neptune fountain, that was everything we wanted for a breakfast place.
Great location and beautiful hotel!! Modern hotel while keeping the charm of the history of the building.
Showers weee on the smaller side and you could hear people coming back at night.
Great location in old town (directly adjacent to St. Mary’s Church) in a lovely historic building. Learned that Rick Steves also stayed at this property after booking :)
Main reason for not scoring higher is because I arrived during “after hours” check in at 8pm but did not receive any advance notification on how to access the building or my room. Another guest heard me knocking for several minutes before I was finally let in… after several phone call attempts to the remote property manager, I was told how to access my room via text message (which was quite easy, just not explained prior). In all, spent ~20 minutes waiting for instructions. There is also a “new” section of the hotel with a separate side entrance that I did not fully understand prior to arrival — I did not mind, but if you are looking to stay in the original 1451 building, be sure to ask or pay attention when booking.
