Pros +
- The grounds are beautiful , and the rooms are large and tastefully decorated. We were sorry we did not have more time to enjoy this beautiful property.
- Breakfast was reasonable if patchy, you do not expect a upmarket property in France to run out of croissants. Hotel not full and buffet style offering possibly cut back as a result.
- Amazing property in a great location, and very quiet
Cons -
- Evening meal in restaurant was disappointing.
- A small fridge would have been nice to keep water in
- It may be an issue of French labour laws or staff availability, but it feels a little like the hotel is run based on what’s convenient for staff and not what would be good for the guests. The property is some way out of Bergerac, and there is no lunch. You can’t even get a breadroll. Yet the staff seems to enjoy a cooked lunch in the hotel restaurant. They do mention this somewhere when you book but watch out for this, it’s a lot more inconvenient than you’d think. There is also no bar, and when we wanted to order some water or drinks to have by the pool, we ended up wandering around the property for ages looking for a member of staff - usually we would find them chatting over coffees somewhere. It seemed like a bit of a theme, but perhaps French law means the staff gets a lot of breaks. The restaurant, though beautiful, was also extremely inflexible about dinner (timings, where to sit, aperitif)… overall it felt a bit like staying with your in-laws at their lovely house which has a lot of inexplicable “ways of doing things”. But it’s not cheap.

Absolutely beautiful property, amazing pool area, stunning views and lovely rooms. They put some chairs in the perfect place to watch the sunset.

Room was a little cold when enquiring was advised individual rooms couldn’t be made warmer
Absolutely wonderful escape. Fabulous location. Incredible welcome and warm professional team and the restaurant was out of this world. Definitely coming back!
Lovely quiet location but near vineyards, a bistro, a small shop and Bergerac Airport.
The peaceful location, the Frenchness of the buildings and the views.
Truly beautiful place- stunning views. Right out in the countryside yet stillclose enough to Bergerac. Gorgeous restaurant with gourmet food.
We can have a great time at the French restaurant with nice view. The garden is so large that my 1-year-old baby can enjoy running around.
The hotel was decorated with charm and elegance with modern twists. Absolutely beautiful. We were made to feel very comfortable in the communal rooms - the sitting rooms and the library and all outside spaces. There were several relaxing areas set up to enjoy and the views were breathtaking!
Beautiful chateau in the French countryside- beautiful room, comfortable bed, great shower. Very kind staff! Excellent food.
The location - the charm and historic nature of the buildings - the owner and staff so congenial and welcoming - the on-site restaurant with food that is creative and outstanding…this is a jewel of a property.
Nothing….
Perfect location near to airport and lots to see and do. Superb service in restaurant. Waiting staff knowledgeable re food and wine.Food superbly presented and delicious.Stunning hotel, grounds and pool
That we my husband and I could not stay longer
An idyllic retreat! Its location among fruit trees and overlooking spectacular countryside was only matched by the superb staff and the fabulous restaurant. A power cut in the middle of dinner did not dim the quality of either food or service.
Any comment here would be nitpicking of the most minor detail.
The grounds were beautiful, rooms were excellent. Loved the fluffy towels, robes and slippers. Decor of the building and common areas were spectacular. Dinner was absolutely delicious, with drinks on the terrace enjoying breathtaking views. Host was very friendly and informative, even with our last minute booking.
Mattress was a little too firm, but still a comfortable and tranquil stay.
Breakfast was very good - lovely lady serving us. Excellent views from the tables. Calming and relaxing.
Loved everything!
Our third stay - a beautiful hotel to stay at, only a 12 minute drive from Bergerac airport. The staff are delightful and the food is superb.
Peaceful, luxurious, well-appointed, helpful staff, lovely food. Overall, an exceptional experience.
When you are running an operation of this class and quality, and it’s 36 degrees outside, you shouldn’t be charging guests (€4 or at all) for re-filling a bottle of still water.
