Pros +
- The location and idea of staying on the island was fabulous. We had two rooms and the Executive apartment was lovely and very clean. The other room was not up to par
- It's the first hotel you come to when you walk into the beautiful old Abbey. The room has Windows for cross ventilation. It has a nice gorgeous bath room with a huge t u b. The breakfast is fabulous that comes with your room. Fridge, coffee/tea maker
- France was having train strikes so our train was canceled & we had no way to get there from Paris. The hotel stated this was not a valid reason not to cancel & charged us anyways. They would not work with us at all which is pretty terrible
Cons -
- There needs to be a way to cool and heat the rooms. In our case, the room was so hot it was unbearable to sleep in and we couldn't open windows due to the amount of insects. Further, the second room we had was very smelly and unpleasant.
- Don't listen to any of the negative Nelly comments people make. If they were expecting the ritz go elsewhere
- The windows had rot causing 1"x5" sections of the bottom to be missing. The bathrooms had linoleum which seemed pretty low end. The room was clean but common areas were unkept (sand on stairs was never cleaned) and junk was stored in disorderly fashion.

Location was on Mont St Michel. Staff were excellent.

Location
Horrible receptionist. No directions to the room. No early checkin though rooms available 20 minutes before guaranteed time of 4 pm. No info on wifi at checkin. Several hotels serviced by single checkin receptionist. Also confusion over prepayment
It is a gorgeous hotel in a great location.
We did not really see any hotel staff and the bar was completely closed which was the reason that we chose the hotel in the first place.
Fantastic location. Charming building. Very good experience to stay overnight and see Mont St Michel at night and in the morning light.
Famous omelettes are served as dinner, not breakfast, so plan accordingly
Location was excellent!
Not really. Room met expectations.
The location was perfect and the rooms were lovely. The bathtub was an unexpected treat.
The historical photos of guests.
It is simply a magical spot! Loved having the village to ourselves at night (off season). This place is like entering a dream that you never want to end. It will take your breath away. I’ve been to a lot of wonderful places but this one wins! The room was decent and needs a bit of attention but that would take from the magic. Get up early to take sunrise photos and with video capture the birds awakening from their roasts up high in the belfry as the church bells begin at 8am. Go eat breakfast early as on our second day there were no scrabble eggs or bacon left (the best I ever had). The selections for breakfast were otherwise wonderful. I would skip dinner there. I was disappointed in the lamb (fatty and insufficient). My husband said his beef was good. Antoinette, our server, was fantastic. We arranged an English tour of the abbey with a woman from England. She was knowledgeable, funny, interactive and genuinely wanted everyone to be involved and informed. Wish I could remember her name but did include her photo. Tub in bathroom small and impossible to fill. Bring an extra small flashlight to guide you around the castle village and grounds at night. Catch a mass in the abbey if you can. Don’t miss an iconic photo opportunity to take pictures of lambs in the higher pasture on the left side facing the abbey. Capture Mont Michel in background or visit the shop selling the world famous print of snow covered lambs.
Nothing. It was world class!
I went here with my brother for a day. Definitely worth a night, but maybe not more. Its very old, which is as what I expected, so don't make the same mistake as me by bringing heavy luggage since there are no elevators. Obviously don't expect crazy facilities, its pretty basic but cool.
i brought a heavy suitcase which is definitely a mistake.
view from window and location
difficult to get from mainland. The hotels at Mt St Michel should get together and supply their own shuttle service direct from either train/bus station or from current shuttle area. People would gladly pay for that service. We found it difficult to get there waiting in long lones on the mainland. Note that we had no trouble for 37 days through out europe so we are pretty season travelers. Thank you.
The view from are room was excellent. It was nice and quiet at night. The breakfast had a large variety.
Large spider in our bathroom.
the location is great, next to the castle
the Room is and the bathrooom is small, we have an issued with the water not hot and not strong for the rating i was expect the room would be more nicer. The lighting kind of dark in the room.
Location was ideal. Enjoyed ability to stay on island at night when other visitors left. Breakfast was very good. Room had tons of charm, large, with great views. We appreciated our stay!
Nothing. Liked everything.
The one thing I like about La Mere Poulard is the location. It is not too far up from the entrance to the mont. Aside from being historical, the only other thing I like about the hotel is the food. Breakfast was simple but the croissants were one of the best and the butter was scrumptious.
It is obvious that the mont is vertically oriented so that goes without saying that there will be an incline and stairs. But the staff did seem to delight in pointing that out to tired travellers with luggage, big or small. I do understand that they are super busy...The hotel and grounds look exactly as it did back in 2007 when I last visited, meaning, there were no upgrades or updates that I could see. It could do with some updating. It was none too clean too, or perhaps it is just not easy to look polished with sand and dirt everywhere on the dated carpets. Despite it all, Mont St Michel is a gem, a magical place. Staying at night when all the day travellers are gone and seeing and hearing it come to life in the early hours of the morning is a profound experience. Throwing your windows open and smelling the clean sea air is rejuvenating. I was shocked to see that the causeway was gone and a bridge was in place but it does help to prevent mud from building up and water to flow around the mont. There were new hotels across the bridge and a little market to get supplies. There is a shuttle bus that runs every 15 min or so to and from the mont.
The staff was friendly and the location is perfect. The rooms are pretty unimpressive but comfortable and clean. The hotel restaurants were great!
No issues
Friendly staff and comfortable rooms with an amazing view of the water. Well worth it to stay right under the monument.
The only confusing part was that we received an email telling us to check in at a different hotel on the mainland and they told us that the email didn't apply to us. So we wasted some time going back and forth across the footbridge. Clear check-in instructions are the only thing lacking.
We enjoyed our one night stay. It was a cozy room with a view of the abbey and breakfast was delicious!
