    Pros +

    • We have been wanting to stay on Mont-Saint Michel for a while now. La Vielle Auberge provided the best value. Location is great, not too far up the hill, close to good restaurants. Can't hear the main road from the room.
    • The setting of Mont Ste Michel is stunning and staying there was like a dream. The hotel was modern in a century old building with a big bath tub and seperate shower.
    • Friendly checkin staff, clean room with a spectacular view from the small windows. Quiet.

    Cons -

    • It's possible for people on the street to see in at certain angles and times of day.
    • The restaurant affiliated with the hotel was unexpectedly closed so we were rudely told by its staff that they had another restaurant down the street (Saint Pierre). Worst dining experience ever. Rude staff and awful food. Avoid at all costs!
    • Lack of amenities in bathroom. Such an establishment should offer shampoo, conditioner, body lotion and hairdryer. Also, great noise block from outside, but noisy from within.

Beyond amazing!!! We loved our terrace balcony and its beautiful views. Fantastic “once in a lifetime” location if you want to stay on the Mont and see it without tourists after hours. The friendly hotel host walks you up to your residence which I really liked considering it would be hard to describe how to find your room.

    I cannot think of anything.

    Location

No hot water. Unprofessional night watchman

You go to Mont St Michel for the experience! The location of the hotel was wonderful so we could explore the streets in the evening and early morning before the huge crowds arrive for the day trips.

The bed was a Double with 2 twin comforters, which is silly to have such small beds these days. The hotel restaurant did not look open for breakfast, so we found a wonderful creperie down the street 'La Sirene' which was a highlight!!

Location was good. Room was quiet. Great base to spend time at Mont Saint Michel.

Room was old, overall not great value for the money, but I do suspect that is the norm in the area.

Staff were helpful and the room was comfortable.

We enjoyed our stay. Lots of steps as the hotel is nestled in the village. It was a little hard to find the check in area but local merchants were helpful.

The room was larger than expected and the view from the windows was absolutely gorgeous. The beds were also incredibly comfortable!

    The location, the space.

Only provided two towels, no hand towels and only 1 roll of toilet paper.

Excellent location. Large rooms given setting

Impossible to contact via phone. Unfriendly staff.

    Location, food, cleanliness

No kettle and internet kept dropping

    8YuryPosted on: 10-6-2025

The room was tidy and the location was great. The building itself is a monumental piece of history and gives shivers when thinking of all the people who have ever stayed under its roof.

One needs to be prepared to be awakened at 6 a.m. by the noise from outside made by cargo transportation.

    Location

I would say that you stay here for the proximity to the Abbey—the room and amenities should not factor in to your decision. It is a very basic accommodation

Everything that the hotel described on their website was true: long hikes up hill to get to island hotel, difficult for carrying much luggage, small size room. But the location, being on the island was fantastic.

Location . I wanted to feel the island vibe instead of staying at Pontorson or Beauvoir. This was my 2nd Mont St Michel abbey visit .

Yes , I was aware of being moved but not to a dingy room which could be considered cozy n unique . It was in a property ( house had 4-6 ? rooms away from the hotel . .. no hotel sign .. n it was part of Hotel Pierre but not on the Hotel Pierre property . I was booked for the Auberge .The photo online is far from the room I was given . Secondly , the shower tray didn’t have a threshold or little step to retain the water from flowing out . I turned on the shower n stepped out to collect my toiletry kit n was shocked to see water was flowing out like a water fall as the edge was flat like the edge of the table n thus it flowed freely .I brought this to the attention of the staff n was told ‘ no one has complained . The hotel is old .Remodeling was done 7 yrs ago. ?Yes,the hotel is old . The size of the room cannot be changed . It be tight for 2 persons with luggage . I am travelling solo n it was super tight . There can be improvements to enhance the guests’ comfort . A 2 star can be ranked 3 star if you listen and make improvements I did not shower during my stay .

Cool vibe being on the island. But not much else. The room was clean, which for me is the most important thing.

The WiFi didn’t work (and sounds like it rarely does). And without it the cell service is sketchy at best. No real complaints about the room other than it had a funky smell that I was having a tough time tolerating. My husband wanted the experience of staying on the island but honestly do yourself the favour and stay just down the way. There’s an easy free shuttle and at least there you’ll get better value and food worth eating. The other thing is don’t expect the possibility of sleeping in at all. I was woken up at 5am by the constant rolling of suitcases and carts on the cobbles.

Location is perfect but lacked a view. Very easy to get to and from within MSM. The staff was very helpful.

Rooms are very small. To be expected in a small village. Beds small and not most comfort.

    10CindyPosted on: 8-22-2025

From the moment we checked in to the moment we hopped on the shuttle to leave we all felt so relaxed and in awe of this rock in the middle of a magical shifting of tides. The hotel was perfect. The weather was perfect. Thank you!

Honestly, trying to operate a hotel on this medieval island with so many people visiting is not easy (i imagine). With this in mind at all times the space could not be better.
