    Pros +

    • The hotel was just OK. We knew we were in for an older, very small room however, it was not very clean feeling; drab (which it didn’t have to be even if the building itself is so old. Additionally, the room was so outdated - again, we knew we were going to be in a super old historical building however, for the cost charged - the hotel could be investing in better beds and furnishings. The staff was efficient - and that was about it. It felt that they were over worked, tired and not happy to be in the business of creating a great experience for their guests.
    • We had two rooms. Ours looked out over the water and the other room had a clear view of the abbey. The room was very small but adequate for a short stay.
    • Very comfortable rooms, modern bathrooms, more spacious than expected and beautiful views of either the abbey or the bay. We also appreciated the ability to leave our luggage with reception for a few hours while we finished exploring the town after checkout.

    Cons -

    • It can't be changed but just know there are a lot of steps, and they are circular staircases! Room is a bit tired and could use an update. When restaurant is closed, you have to walk outside and around to get to the front of the hotel.
    • One thing to be aware of is that this hotel is not ideal for those who have difficulties with stairs or are not very fit. We were assigned to the 5th floor and there is no elevator, so it was stairs, stairs, and more stairs. It was manageable for us, but guests should be prepared, as you will definitely feel it the next day. Another tip is to avoid bringing carry-on luggage inside the walls. We left ours in the car and only brought a backpack, and it was the smartest decision ever.
    • So many steps but no other option

The location was perfect. We booked two rooms, one for me and my husband and another for our teenagers, since there was no single room for all of us. We were assigned rooms side by side, which worked out wonderfully. I had an ocean view and my kids had a city view, and both were beautiful. The rooms were small but very comfortable, with cozy beds, and having a private bathroom in each room was a real bonus. The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to help. We needed to leave very early, around 5:30 in the morning, and they arranged a free shuttle from the hotel to the parking lot for us, which made things so easy. The best part was staying inside Mont Saint-Michel itself. Once the tourists left for the day, we had the town almost to ourselves, which was absolutely priceless and made the experience unforgettable. If you can afford it, I would highly recommend staying inside Mont Saint-Michel, especially during peak season.

Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Allowed us to store our overnight bags the morning of check out so we could explore without worry. Dinner in hotel restaurant was delicious (steak and muscles) and they gave us a great table when they found we were staying in hotel. Lots of steps to room, but very comfortable and clean! Very convenient location when arriving and leaving the island - easy enough to find. Safe in the room for valuables. Would definitely stay there again!

Cannot beat the setting right on the island with windows open to the beautiful views.

We came for a mother-son trip. It was his dream to visit Mont Saint-Michel and to stay on the island. This property was perfect and exceeded our expectations. It was in the perfect location, had an amazing view, the perfect was good, the staff was so friendly and you can tell the hotel is well maintained and taken care of. It was a dream vacation. Thank you! We can’t wait to come back next year with my parents and other kids.

Location was fabulous and our room had view of the channel. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was a nice size

So many steps but no other option

The room is really cool because it is in an old building that has Beauty and the Beast vibes - the room it self is small and a bit dated but the window overlooked all the rooftops and we saw seagles nesting with there babies and you can see the castle. I had read that there was a lot of stairs and there are so luckily we transferred what we needed to a back pack and left the rest in the car - they have a secured parking lot and then you take the shuttle bus. If you can travel light I would recommend that.

The whole island is amazing ? but be warned, staying on the island can be challenging in terms of locating your room and climbing many stairs and possibly learning a maze-like set of passages. I loved it, but it is difficult for the elderly and physically challenged. The staff was great but they are very busy so bring a bit of extra patience. Highly recommend for the brave and sturdy adventurers!! Bravo!

Too many tourists... much quieter when the day-trippers have gone...

The location in the village of Mt saint Michel was great. The room was clean and the bathroom was fine.

The room was a bit 'old' as if it has not been renovated since the '70s. A 3 star hotel. It gave a nostalgic / quaint feeling that I do not mind, however, the price is much too high for such a room, I guess the rate is doubled for the location. It was not like in the picture where it seems fancy and modern.

location was convenient Breakfast was good

very noisy facing street and room was too warm. Staffing hours very short without details on how to check out if they are not there

    location and view

    the beds are very uncomfortable

    8BrendaPosted on: 5-13-2025

The location is the main draw here. We had spectacular views in 3 different directions. The room itself was very clean and had everything we needed. The friendly staff were very accommodating and the buffet breakfast was well stocked and delicious.

The location can be an issue due to the logistical demands of being placed directly on the Mont. This property is managed by one office in a different hotel which involves walking up 2 flights of stairs, exiting the back of that hotel, walking along the outside wall and into a different building after ascending and descending several stairs between the two buildings, then walking up another set of spiral stairs to find our room on the top floor, followed by another set of stairs once inside the room. There are no elevators. When we left our building, we had to exit down another set of very steep concrete stairs with virtually no railings into the main "street" of Mont St. Michel. Do not book unless your knees can take it and anticipate the possibility that your bathroom may not be on the same floor as your bed. Take care around any bed placed under a vaulted ceiling. Bumped heads will happen. In our case, x3.

It is located steps away from the front gaye. The view was a welcome surprise. The walk up a narrow spiral staircase was fun and adventurous. Our reception was kind and arranged reservations for dinner.

It was so central which allowed us to explore within the walls late into the evening and as early as possible. The staff made breakfast even though there were only 4 people.in total staying. The lady who helped is checkout was very nice. Precious eviews on the place were accurate and useful, particularly on the parking!

The staff member who checked us in was not welcoming at all. We arrived at 5:30pm having difficulties finding the place. This was before the 6pm late checkout that was mentioned. He made us feel like we were a huge inconvenience and gave us very little information.

The location was right on the island, which is very nice

We were moved to Auberg Saint Pierre, which was next door, and not a big deal. However, our rooms was on higher floors, very tight, the main bed was bumping into the ladder, and the third bed is on the upstairs going up the very narrow ladder (not stairs). The TV and many of the electrical plugs didn't work.

This hotel is right in the heart of the city, and it is walking distance to everything. I just don’t know if it’s worth staying on the island because everything is closed at night and even the restaurants aren’t open for dinner all the time.

Our room was very tiny and had three twin beds in the attic of a historic building… It was difficult to maneuver and get around with our infant son. I wish we had a room with a queen bed or somewhere where we could’ve slept together my husband couldn’t even stand up all the way in our room because of the specific room that we were in. It wasn’t a big deal, but I don’t know if we would stay in this hotel again.

Being on Mont St Michel was a nice experience.

5 Floor narrow winding stair walkup. Restaurant on the 3rd floor was noisy

Excellent view from our room, central location but still, it was very quiet.
