    Pros +

    • Great restaurant, stayed open late enough for us to arrive late and still eat a full dinner.
    • Beautiful property and building right by a little lake. The hotel features a stunning winter garden overlooking the lake.
    • The long road out to the hotel made it woodsy cozy.

    Cons -

    • The only thing I can think of is… make sure all the windows can be darkened. The light woke me up earlier than I intended.
    • We were visiting right after Christmas and it felt like the hotel wasn’t really prepared or in the mood for guests at that time. We arrived a bit after lunchtime and we’re told that they are cleaning up now after lunch so we can’t really use the dining area. In general it wasn’t possible to order any food outside of the lunch or dinner time it seemed. The hotel manager was super friendly and brought us a coffee to the winter garden area. Some music in there would have been nice as the hotel was just all in all a bit empty and quiet. But what really disappointed us was the breakfast. The options were so little, it just didn’t match the price or the surroundings. When you’re a vegetarian then it was even more disappointing. The cheese was almost empty when we came, there were no croissants, no fruit and very little vegetables. There was no oat or soy milk next to the coffee machine. The staff was nowhere to be seen so we also couldn’t ask for anything. They played the local radio in the breakfast area which frankly felt a bit like we were getting ready for our shift but not like we’re on a holiday- just some music would have been nice to take away the dullness.
    • there was a train not far from entrance to hotel, however I never heard it.

This hunting castle converted into a hotel had so much charm and ambience! It was a wonderful place to stay between Wittenberg and the Wartburg Castle on our family-planned tour of Luther sites in Germany. The restaurant was fabulous for dinner and the free breakfast had great selections. We would definitely choose this hotel again!

Nice castle type hotel. Of course in Corona time no dinner and only a togo breakfast. But nice surrounding for an evening/morning run and a in-house gym.

For me no problem but it is located outside of the city (if you look for that)
