Pros +
- I love it! I prefer quirky unique hotels, so this was perfect for me. It's an old prison, very nicely renovated, of course. I picked the smallest room under the roof because I just needed a place to crash for a night and this was the most cost-effective option. The room was small, but cosy and very efficiently designed. There is a bunk bed. Each bed has their own outlets (2) to charge devices and a reading lamp. There is a TV, a sink and a separate bathroom with shower and toilet. Wifi works well. It was very quiet and very clean. There are some loving touches too: you have an electric kettle and a box with tea and coffee. You also get a bottle of water. Downstairs is a little store to get snacks and beverages. The lobby has some long tables and a selection of games to play. There is enough room to have a meeting or a game night or you could sit and work. It's very automated. Automated check-in, card payment only, card access to open doors. The reception is only staffed for a few hours (but they are super nice and helpful). It didn't bother me, but if it bothers you that you might not see anyone, it might not be for you. There is a little R2D2 running around to say "hello" though which is kind of cute.Das Kittchen is very centrally located. You are close to the market place, important sights and all the shops and restaurants.
- Good location. Interesting history.
- Very good location, in the city center. The check in was super easy and fast, all digital. Practical when you arrive late. The building is an old prison restructured in a hotel, it was interesting to see and experience.
Cons -
- There is a cafe attached, but it's only open for breakfast. You can't store luggage on your departure day. When you check out, you need to be gone.
- Value for money not great. Breakfast is also expensive.
- The size of the room we had, was a bit smaller as imagined.

Nice hotel in historical prison. Perfect location in city centrum! And perfect staff!
All was OK
Excellent location right in the center of the historical part of the city. Nice rooms, quiet surrounding, good breakfast, and very reasonable price.

The pillow is too big ? but this is just me
Super interesting room in an old jail. The small cells are very very well designed and modern, with all you need to a good stay near to all the historic places. For a solo traveler is perfect if you wanted a different kind of hotel. Great!
Location was good. Clean, everything we needed was there. Easy to park by the church. Breakfast was great.
The ladder to the top bunk bed was not so easy to use.
Exceptional lodge in a former jail, modern comfortable (albeit small) ensuite rooms that used to be jail cells. Bunk beds. Good WiFi, very good breakfast. Location within easy walking distance of the central square. Excellent value for money, highly recommended.
I had a cell with ensuite bathroom. For a short stay and just one person it is ok. Clean and comfy bed. If you are two it might be tight with your luggage and maybe not so attractive with bunk beds. The location is great and the breakfast is excellent.
The hotel is in the centre of Wismar. The rooms are new and very clean. Checkin and checkout is contactless and super convenient. Would definitely stay there again :)
Its same like Prision. When i first time enter to room area it was really horable and fearable. No staff at reception. And cubes are very small.

Great rooms in the Centre of town. Only minutes walk to all attracties. Very interesting rooms in an historic site.
The breakfast wasn’t break. There are better alternatives within a few minutes walk in the centre of wismar.
Room: Clean, floor heating, TV, kettle in the roomHotel: 24/7 snack shop, possibility of late check-in
Weird bathroom: it's literally the toilet in the shower, tiny room with no space and use for neither of them (thankfully they have separate bathrooms and showers on the floor).Windows are smallBed above is tiny
Simply excellent for the price they charge, freshly rebuilt place, everything is brand-new and comfy. Good breakfast. Central location, literally two blocks distance from the main city square.
Well located for the old town. Quirky layout exploiting its former use as a prison. Lovely breakfasts.
Nice hotel right in the center, a lot of parking options nearby. Room was clean.
Breakfast was rather average
Interesting place in an old prison. In the small cells there is not much space (obviously - it is a prison cell!), but it is well designed. The atmosphere at this place is different than most other hotels. Quite an experience.
The self check-in is not so user friendly.
Interesting history, nice design, generous public space
Clumps of hair below the bed.
Best situated in Wismar, just a few steps away from the center. The historic cell is small but comfortable. Staff very friendly. Breakfast very good.
