Hôtel du Golf de l'Ailette, The Originals Relais

The place was fantastic. In a great location with beautiful views and countryside. We loved the terrace by the lake and the food was amazing. My only negative comment was our kettle was broken and the tea / coffee making options in the room were limited. The kids loved the pool table and games in the bar area.

Very comfortable room, with great view of the lake. Nice outside area for drinks by the shore. Very good breakfast selection. Nice dinner, a bit pricey. Pleasant and helpful staff. On our way home, but would have liked to stay longer!

This was our first stay, chosen as it was a convenient stopover on our way back to the UK from the Alps. The hotel is in a lovely location, nice and quiet, on a lake near the golf course. It's a few miles/km from the motorway, which wasn't great in the pouring rain, but was worth it when we arrived. The staff were helpful and very friendly. The food was excellent. Our room was large, well appointed, comfortable and well decorated/maintained. The following day we had a good breakfast before covered the final 2+ hours to Calais. The hotel more than met our needs, so we'll definitely consider staying here again.

Burger had camembert cheese within it and this was not stated in the menu. Spoilt dinner. Lounge area far too warm with an open fire on. When asked if they could do something they didn’t. Singular bar staff too stretched and was often difficult to find.

The view from the rooms is spectacular, breakfast is ok as is dinner but the kitchen could do with some improvement though.

Stunning location and our room was amazing! It was particularly spacious and overlooked the lake. Decor was very refined and the bathroom exceptionally clean. There was a kettle and fridge in the room. The meal in the restaurant was very good - although the Omelette Norvegienne was not! The meringue was ‘set’ and cold - not nice!

There wasn’t a very nice smell in the corridors (we think from chemical cleaners/sprays to combat golfing smells?) but fortunately this didn’t travel into the room. There were only two tiny pots of ‘cream’ which are not nice in tea and there was no English breakfast tea. I asked for some ‘real’ milk at reception and was given some.

The whole set up was very good and the staff excellent. The location is suoerb and the welcome, both before and during the stay was impressive.

Maybe some hooks in the room for outside coats?

At the reception we were given an upgrade for the same price to the "Deluxe", their best. Our room had a good view of the lake. There was a shower room that had been renovated. Next to this was the toilet in a separate roomlet, without a sink. Chairs and tables on the small terrace were weathered. There were lichens and moss on the floor and walls of the terrace. The whole room was in an unusually poor condition: door and window frames from 40 years ago. The furniture and the sofa in the room were worn. We covered the sofa with our dressing gowns to sit on.

It is a building from probably the 1970s that bears the signs of decades of neglect. The 2 points are given for the location and the renovated shower room. Massively overpriced and not recommended.

We were upgraded to an excellent room quite large with a balcony overlooking the lake. We had dinner both nights good selection to chose. Breakfast was adequate but we had to request on two occasions for more pastries

Staff were bit abrupt to begin with and there were a large crowd of golfers attending a reception who were very noisey

Quiet but easy to find location with good car parking. Nice hotel rooms well appointed. Lovely restaurant with good food and attentive friendly staff especially Leah (?) . Heated swimming pool.

TV in room purported to have multiple channels including CNN and BBC World Service, neither of which worked - wife disappointed.Not the fault of the property as such, but Chamouille lacks ambiance, in fact is totally dead. The boulangerie / patisserie and the only other bar in the village have both closed. An increasingly common situation in rural France post-Covid.

The prices of drinks and the restaurant..too expensive given the choice and quality.
