Mercure Auxerre

Not a 4 star hotel at all, rooms dated and weary, swimming pool had black mould round the edges and doesn’t look well maintained. Hotel in the middle of nowhere, staff unfriendly and bar/dinner service awful.

We chose the hotel because it was conveniently located for our drive. Big mistake. It’s overpriced and filthy.

The hotel is filthy. When we arrived at dinner time there were still half empty breakfast bowls in the corridor and dirty cutlery lying around.

Amazing value for money. Room and bathroom had been freshly redecorated and were quite spacious.

Basic facilities but we have no complaints. The property met our expectations.

Clean, modern and easy location

Spacious room with airconditioning, which was very welcome after a long hot day. Pool was great. Staff friendly and very good breakfast. Could park our bikes right infront of the building and gates close overnight.

The restaurant was a bit on the expensive side but good food.

A confortable hotel very conveniently located near the motorway and only 10mins drive from the lovely town of Auxerre. Freya at reception was so kind and helpful. After realising our air con did not work, she moved us to another room straight away coming to us with the new key and offering to help us to move our luggages. Freya is such an asset to this hotel. She made us feel so welcome. Thank you!!!

Good location along the autoroute

Not really a hotel, this is a motel with rooms that have only bare basic facilities. Reception was cold. We had booked 2 rooms and were placed on literal opposite sides of the complex. Entered the restaurant for dinner (an obviously international family of decently dressed, well behaved people) and got stared up and down by the waiter who coldly brought us to our table, told us half the menu wasn’t available and seemed impatient with every sigh we made. We communicated as good as we could in reasonably understandable French throughout our stay, not the typical group of boisterous English speakers - not even our own language - demanding things. Ah well.

The hotel is an ideal stopover just off the autoroute. The parking facilities are excellent, and the room was quiet. The meal in the restaurant was a pleasant surprise in terms of quality and value for money. The included breakfast was also very good, and the staff were friendly and helpful.

The hotel is quite old, and visibly tired, with rooms and facilities that are dated and in need of renovation. Our accommodation was away from the main building and our heavy luggage had to be hauled up and down the dilapidated staircase because there was no lift.

Location, room, quietness

Better dinner menu with more different food items to select . Only few options to choose from. Soup and main dish served on ice-cold plates! That is a no-go because especially the soup gets cold almost straight away!

Excellent location. Big room. Friendly English speaking reception staff. Very good breakfast.

A kettle and tea/coffee in the room would improve the overall experience.

Easy to find and easy access to Auxerre. Tesla super charging point in the car park. Beds were comfortable but the room was very dark as the room was in the eves of the building.

The room was very dark a little tatty and cramped. Although the hotel is going through a refit this part hadn’t been started yet. Ask if any family rooms on a ground floor but told they were only upstairs.The restaurant only served a buffet menu each evening which was overpriced for a buffet. We expected that for breakfast but not dinner.

Staff were friendly.

The motel was tired and dirty.They had a swimming pool but only four sun loungers.The breakfast was poor.

The food at their restaurant was lovely. It was nice to be able to swim after a 7 hour drive. Staff were friendly & overall it suited our needs.

The bathroom was quite smelly.

Convenient location.

The upper floor room was in one of the noisiest hotel buildings we can remember staying in. You could here conversations from a distance, every door slammed and echoed down the long corridor.
