    Pros +

    • One-day stay. The hotel itself is a beautiful castle, located in a vast garden with a wonderful view of the city skyline and the river. The interiors are tastefully adapted to the architecture of the building, but some elements of the room need refreshing. The peace and quiet is a big advantage. It is a pity that, considering the level and number of stars, you have to pay extra for breakfast on site. However, I rate the stay as good, with an additional plus for the very friendly service at the hotel. Certainly, a stay in the months when you can better appreciate the surrounding greenery of the park would be an additional advantage.

    • Breakfast and property grounds were amazing.

    Cons -

    • We did not stay in main hotel but 500 meters away. We had to carry own luggage the distance to our hotel. No Coffee/tea making facilities in our building so once again had to walk the distance to go get coffee. We used train/trams as transport, very far walk from stop station., especially with luggage over cobbles.About 1,5km, we were not warned that we should rather have a car for this location.
    • A little out of town. We would have liked a day pass on bus to go in without the car. Room was basic like a dorm room.
    • Parking on the green

Location in a superb estate. Good public transport facility nearby. Wonderful main building with great bar.

The castle is located on a hill overlooking the Elbe, and is surrounded by a lovely park-like garden. Dresden Neustadt can easily be reached by tram within about 20 minutes. The neighbouring castles (Albrechtsburg in particular) are worth exploring as well. They sometimes offer good classical concerts. For astronomers, there is a good view of the sky, especially to the east and south. For gastronomers, the meals are excellent (the breakfasts are Lucullan).

I fear I can find little or nothing negative to say.

    Historical significance of location; Dresden.

Receptions rudeness and unprofessional attitude! Was made to pay extra 53 euros for my wife although the room was already for double occupancy according to the host. The hotel outright claimed it was my fault; however, I had made multiple reservations through Booking.com without any issues elsewhere. In addition, the room was not clean; there were bugs alive and dead and the countertops had not been cleaned in a while as there were multiple water rings and stains on the counters. Not what anyone should have to expect anywhere!

It is a fabulous setting, nestled in the trees, and the 'old castle' is beautiful. Very posh looking in a romantic setting.

It appeared that our room did not have air conditioning. (101 in the Annex) A stay in the mid-summer might be uncomfortable. This time of year, (Sep), it was wonderful. Breakfast was expensive. The grounds are gorgeous, but they have space for more parking that they have not provided.

Location is beautiful and parks with 3 castles near each other gave us a lot of pleasure. Also we appreciated free parking.

It was no tea pot in the room and we had to go downstairs to make coffee.

The whole castle grounds are absolutely wonderful, the photos here don’t do it justice. There is plenty of parking space and beautiful gardens. The inside of the castle is beautiful too from what I’ve seen, especially the restaurant, the breakfast was great. We’ve slept in the house, not the castle, the room was nice, the beds were very comfy, absolute peace and quiet.

The interactions with stuff felt a bit awkward (expect during the breakfast, everyone was wonderful there). Might have been because of the language barrier, which is completely understandable.

Stylish rooms, nice park, beautiful views of the Elbe and Dresden, 2 other castles and Sommerwirtschaft Saloppe nearby:-)

Views from the castle where amazing and beds were comfortable

Rooms and electronics were outdated and sometimes very old. Not what I expected for the money we paid per night.

Friendly staff, doing their best, but the issue is a lack of services provided by the hotel.

Schloss Eckberg is presented at the Booking.com site as a four-star hotel, with availability of a restaurant. After arriving it became however clear that:1- All days of our stay the restaurant isn't available for hotel guests2 - There is no hotel bar facility (or it was closed during our 3 days stay)3 - There is no hotel room cleaning service during our stay, also not on request. Not even toilet paper or soap was replenished, nor the waste container in the rooms emptied.General you can say that the hotel doesn't offer the service package you expect when you book a four-star rated hotel at the Booking.com site. N.B. The hotel reception is making illegal - without asking for permission - a copy of your passport. This is against the European wide General Data Protection Regulation (GDP) as well as the German Bundesmeldegesetz, As frequent business traveller staying in four-star rated hotels it never happened me before.

Excellent service. Fantastic view. Beautiful room. Delicious dinner. Great location.

The hotel is extremely beautiful, the gardens and all of the buildings seem really well cared for and the staff was super friendly and kind. I would definitely return.

The bathroom smelled bad and the shower door didn't properly contain the water, causing it to leak all over the bathroom.

As a history enthusiast, I always enjoy staying in historic places such as manors or castles—and this time was no exception. The entire property is beautifully restored and well maintained. The staff was very kind and accommodating. The reception staff helped me with a kettle when I asked for one to make tea in the evening, as there wasn’t one in the room. I also liked that checking out was simple—you could just drop the key into a separate box by the exit. Since the hotel consists of several buildings, there was no need to go to the reception, which was located in another building. Very convenient.

Unfortunately I had no time to visit restaurant. From outside it looked amazing. Perhaps next time!
