Pros +
- the room is very spacious with many beds. It has an Alexa speaker. The breakfast was really nice with many options (eggs, hams, cheese, pies, croissant). It was nice that I could take the breakfast to the room with a tray. It even has a "relaxation room" with games, books, and etc. Parking is free.
- Nicely renovated historic compound. the rooms were basic, but clean and quiet. Staff were excellent as was the breakfast
- The hotel is adorable and modern. We picked a themed room, and it did not disappoint. Our whole crew will surely never forget the 7 Dwarfs Room! The breakfast was tasty with lots of choices and delish local fare. YUMMY!!!
Cons -
- the reception is from 7am to 1pm, and the check-in is at 2pm, which had to be done by self check-in. It wasn't bad but the hotel felt almost deserted. Also, in the photos, it seemed like there were lots of gardens and parks accessible from the hotel, but the garden right in front of the entrance was all locked (different private property i guess), and unfortunately the Farnese gardens were closed on the day i visited. There weren't many restaurants near the hotel, and it's difficult to eat there without reservations. The hotel claimed to be a pet-friendly place, but the dog couldn't enter the breakfast room together.
- Our traveling companions had a nice room, but the AC was problematic. Sadly, we visited during a dreadful heatwave. The support team was responsive, but it took a while to get them settled into their space.
- Unclear communication about underground parking option. Public parking was available though.

Great ambiance in nicely restored buildings.
Unclear communication about underground parking option. Public parking was available though.
Nice location, refurbished old building.
Not much character inside. Did not feel like 4 star hotel. Light sensors on corridor not sensitive enough, resulting having to pour hot water for tea ina complete darkness.
Kids room for playing Clean rooms
Pictures look good, however the vinyl floor in the corridor was a bit of a disappointment. Does not honour the authenticity of the buildingAlso the site advertises a pool, but a) this is an arrangent with local town do you have to go to the public space and b) it was closed. Hotels should be honest about their services and therefore I cannot give this hotel a positive report
The room was very spacious, located next to a castle, there was a nice game room. We liked the fitness device in the room :)
Breakfast area was a bit crowded
Beautiful location, lovely staff and hotel! Delicious breakfast. Fun kids themed room!
Friedly staff, good breakfast, self check in super easy, free parking, clean and comfortable. Game room for kids and treats in the common areas was a plus!
The lady in the reception was really nice
We got a "suit" which basically was 2 separate rooms and one tiny shower, the entrance was through the dining room and a narrow staircase - very inconvenient logistically and even more so very dangerous for a family with a baby, we asked to change of course but it was not possible. The person in charge of the dining room was the least pleasant service woman we have met in a long time. The breakfast itself is low quality, In general, the hotel is not suitable for families, there are no spacious sitting areas, the children play room is neglected and dirty. The shower in the room is tiny, there is no hot water and the water flow itself is very weak, impossible to take a proper shower, also no proper storage solutions in the room (no drawers etc) and the mini bar is tiny and not functional.
It is a totally modern hotel in a castle built during the 15th century. Everything works. Checking in and out were a breeze. Breakfast is a large variety of meats cheeses croissants are crispy and freshly made. Although it’s located in a small town there’s a supermarket a short distance away. Our room had a rowing machine. One other room we saw had a treadmill. The castle itself is closed on Mondays
There’a nothing to not like. In my book it’s a 5 star
Great place in a very charming town. Beautiful rooms, comfy beds, great shower, delicious breakfast. We booked the snow-white suite for my 4 year old (who absolutely LOVED it and also enjoyed the relaxation room :) and regular double room. Both were great! Highly recommend for anyone looking for comfort stay around Parma.
Location is the best , right in the historic center of the town. Next to a magnificent castle and park . Great breakfast! Parking could be a little bit of an issue , but honestly there is a big public parking lot area at a walking distance (5-10min) from the hotel . Besides being a nice short workout , it is also allow to explore the surroundings. I also loved the deco of the hotel . Super friendly and nice stuff .
Parking in front of the property can be an issue since it is a public square . Due to the high ceiling it may take a little bit longer to warm the room.
The hotel is beautiful, we could not believe this is only 3 stars. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast buffet was nice. We stayed in the suite, which comprised 2 rooms with double beds, and a shared bathroom. This setup worked well for the 4 us (parents plus 5yo and 8yo). The AC was a godsend given the blistering August heat. All in all, a lovely hotel, we recommend it for families with young kids.
The suite led directly into the breakfast room such through a set of stairs and the door and a sliding door at the end. This resulted in some puzzled looks from the other guests when we showed up for breakfast the first morning. We didn't mind too much but perhaps it could be off putting to more reserved people. Also, Sala Baganza has little to offer in terms of things to do with kids as young as ours and it felt hard at times trying to find places to visit which were suitable for kids in the August heat.
The location is fine, very quiet and several restaurants are nearby. The atmosphere is authentic as hotel is located in the old building which is the part of the castle. There is a relax room with books, toys, interactive board for kids, kicker and so on. Water is available for all guests for free.
The air conditioning isn't set properly in the room. It was set to 26°C and as it was too hot outside it wasn't enough to cool down the room. All the attempts to decrease temperature were unsuccessful. Staff tried to fix it for us, but made it even worse as bad smell of burning cable appeared. So we couldn't sleep because of the heat for 2 nights. Finally it was fixed for us, but for the last night only. The breakfast is poor and the same all days.
Brand new and spacious rooms in an old and well redecorated building
Our pillows were a bit too high (if I really have to mention something :-))
Clean and spacious
Air conditioning was a bit noisy, could do wirh an upgrade
Location, breakfast
Pool is not close to hotel. It's 10 min walk, it is a fee to pay. So it is misleading by hotel and Booking that thay say this hotel has a pool. No there is no pool within the hotel.
Spacious room with 7 dwarfs theme which the kids love.
Ideally the room would have airco.
Clean and spacious room. Clean bathrrom. Good breakfast but the cheeses are served in a very unhygienic way which the guests touch with the bare hands.
This hotel seriously misrepresents its facilities, in the photos and the text 1. A photo shows an outdoor swimming pool. Readers are intended to think the hotel has a pool - it does not. 2. Photos show buildings in green parkland. The hotel text refers to a "garden". None of the parkland belongs to the hotel. 3. The hotel refers to parking. It is quite inadequate - only 5 spaces in a large public carpark on the square in front of the hotel where parking is for a maximum of 2 hours 8.00 - 8.00 omitting siesta - a major problem. 4. The tiny breakfast room is much too small for the number of bedrooms - one part of it used to be a bathroom. More facilities are described that do not exist: 5. the hotel text refers to a restaurant that does not exist, 6. a bar that does not exist, and 7. a welcome drink which does not exist. There is absolutely no welcome at the hotel because no staff are present . Clients are informed of this by email on the morning of their arrival Replies to these emails are blocked. Self check-in is not acceptable in a hotel costing ~125 Euro / night. We arrived a few minutes after 1.00 p.m.. just as the manager was leaving. He recognized us as hotel clients. But he got in his car and drove away. At breakfast, he can only be described as very surly. He speaks to noone, not even saying buongiorno. The hotel tries to cover themselves legally on some of the items above in the small-print- it says it provides a "swimming pool service", so he can deny saying there is a pool. We object strongly to the attitude of the manageress Alessandra who thinks that she can run a hotel remotely using the computer to send out self check-in messages etc Guests do not like self check-in, and do not like there to be no welcome.
