    Pros +

    • The cleanliness of the room and presentation of the breakfast in the morning.
    • Old furniture and a small garden behind Hotel.
    • The excellent original paintings from very good artists hanging in every floor of the hotel and in every guest rom make this the most unique gallery hotel! Breakfast very good! Great king service people at the restaurant and the desk!!

    Cons -

    • Was disappointed upon check out when we asked for help in getting a taxi and the lady was very unhelpful. We stressed we needed to get to the train station as we had a very important medical appointment to get to and have travelled from New Zealand.
    • When we came, room was very cold- somewhere from 10 to 12 degrees Celsius, and heating was Off!Breakfast was very poor (15€ pro Person), like in Romania ''89, who is familiär with history can understand. We payed parking to recepcionist when we came, but at the Checkout, his colleague wanted to charge us again, ofcourse we declined that. All in all, the worse place we ever had to pay to sleep at.
    • Wall to wall carpets very problematic for me specially and for the world population in large. Reactive airway disease/asthma exacerbation for somebody with allergies to dust and mites like me and many other guests. Very large part of the population in the word have allergies dust and mites

It was kind of old but in really good shape, they seem to take well care of the facilities!Everything felt clean and tidy.

The neighborhood is no the greatest, but It isn't bad either. I think some people exagerate a little in the reviews.

Squeaky clean, good breakfast, nice staff

Bed mattrace was too soft, gave me a blocked back in the morning

    Passable

I paid a little more for a more comfortable single room, but the room I was given was of the basic single room, according to the pictures online.

The location is good. It has a yard. Staff was friendly.

No air conditioning. Room warm as a sauna upon Arrival. Forced to sleep with open windows on a VERY NOISY street. The bed+ mattress is kinda old and too soft. Provided bed linen was winter... Not 100% cotton = really warm feeling. The fridge in the bedroom was removed. No kettle. Parking is available for an additional 9€/night fee.

Everything was great, very polite staff, clean room, location is not too far from Hauptbahnhof:) can totally recommend it!

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The "rooms" are actually apartments, with own kitchen etc., which was a lovely surprise. The area looks like a more hipster/alter area of Leipzig (but what do I know) with life going on late in the night in kebab shops and stuff. Walk to city centre is ~20-30 mins. Oh, and the fact we could park our car in the hotel's own garage meant we didn't have to take all our stuff to the room, which is great help.

Clean, elegant friendly and helpful staff

Neighborhood was unexpected. No coffee or tea bags provided in the room as normal.

Comfortable hotel with very friendly staff. Breakfast was fine as well as dinning in hotel restaurant. The ubiquitous art paintings are a nice bonus.

The hotel was comfortable and clean, and the staff were very helpful, especially after I had an accident in town and needed assistance booking additional travel home. I had a very enjoyable meal in the restaurant one evening (though clearer information about their opening times would have been helpful). The gallery aspect was a lovely touch - there was a nice cat theme in the corridor leading to my room! - and I wish I'd thought to wander round and explore more of the pictures. It was also nice and quiet; as I usually feel hot in hotel rooms I slept with one window open most nights and was not disturbed by external noise at all.

The location was a bit out of the centre. It was walkable, but as far as I could discover either via a busy ring road or rather empty residential streets, and as a solo female traveller I wasn't entirely comfortable with either on the dark evenings when I was staying. That said, it's a short tram journey from the centre, conveniently situated between two stops on the busy Eisenbahnstrasse, so really not so much a dislike as a minor concern.

My third time here, the Galerie Hotel is my favourite hotel in Leipzig. It's in the middle of a vibrant quarter, full of cheap restaurants and supermarkets, a short tram ride to the centre of town. The hotel itself is full of artworks, on your walk down to breakfast you'll definitely be distracted by the paintings. Friendly staff who know their city well. Highly recommended!

Who likes a retro experience in a former DDR Hotel, that’s for you. Clean and good value.

    Keep away from this place.

Okej let me describe this horror. I came to this hotel because of the serious heating break down in my company's apartment. After 5 days in cold I payed 100 euros to have some good conditions. When I arrived it turned out that the room I was given after the reservation via booking.com has got damaged both lamps, which after turning them on sounded like "bbbzzzzzz". The personel told me, that they cannot call the electrician because on the weekend it is not possible, but absolutely I was not offered any other room - just I had to stay in a dark room for two days !!!!!! At the second night something was waking me up the whole night - knocking into the roof, probably a damaged part of it. Water was hot only one day, the second not. MY THEORY IS - this is the remark for booking.com - I was given the worst possible room because this is the way how they treat booking's client - IF I reserved directly, I would be given a good room - I think so because when you reserve through booking they cannot take deposit - when you reserve directly - absolutely YES - they take 200 (!!! - this is crazy) - and THIS is the secret ! Cheaters !

The hotel staff were friendly and helpful , they speak English which was good, the room was cosy and clean as was the bathroom , if it's high up there is a lift to take you there , I loved the paintings especially the beach party, some of the floors squeak a little bit but that was no issue for me ,I'll be back...l

There's not much I didn't like but the reception bar is a little costly and could be cheaper for guests ..

The hotel atmosphere was great, you can feel that the hotel is beloved by the owner, who curated it very carefully. It hosts a great collection of Leipziger paintings, and you can read about them in the diaries of the hotel owner, available as a book in the room. Our room was very spacious and the bad comfortable. The hotel has a convenient parking for a fee (but seems that the area offers also street parking space). If you are visiting in the nice season you can seat in the backyard. We did not have time to eat at the restaurant (open until 20.00), but next time will do!The hotel is well connected with the city center by public transport.
