Hotel Residence Montelago

It is perfectly located between the two village I visited.

No screens on the windows. Lots of mosquitos.

The room is large, well-designed, and has a great balcony.

The shower in the room was broken, but the staff gave us that room. They could have at least warned us that it wasn't working, or given us a room with a non-broken shower, since it was off-season and there were free rooms. That's the only thing that disappointed me.

Helpful staff. Good size room. Decent breakfast. Almost lakeside location.

Very quiet place on a Sunday. A few eating options closed.A little noisy in the morning from the recycling place nearby.

The staff at the front desk were very nice and were very informative and spared no efforts to help us.The room was very clean.

The showers. They are high. The sliding knob to switch the water between the head shower and the hand shower was very high and out of reach. The showers need to be replaced with normal shower.

We stayed for one week in the hotel, everything is perfect. Room is spacious and clean, adequately heated. Balcony is big. There is a small lake just next to hotel, ideal for a morning walk after breakfast. There is also a big playground next to hotel, perfect places for my kids to "release" the energy. Breakfast is decent with essential choices. The pancake machine is kids' favorite.Hotel is located conveniently close to Varese, lake Como and etc. One can plan day trips to surrounding area easily.There is a restaurant just cross the street from hotel, as hotel guests you can get a small discount there. Food are good there, with pizza, spaghetti, Pallela etc. On new year eve, hotel/restaurant also has a fantastic fireworks show, our balcony has the best viewing position.

Location is lovely and quiet. The breakfast was fantastic. Nothing to complain about really but perhaps the sometimes malfunctioning elevator.

Not too much to see or do in walking distance of the hotel. No big deal though, as that wasn't our desire anyway.

Very cold in the room, it took quite a while to warm up even a little bit. Staff advised that use of heating is "not allowed by law before 15 October". Also, when I arrived in the breakfast hall, there had already been a large group who had pretty much finished everything and the staff were very reluctant to replenish the breakfast items. I had to ask the stuff for everything that I wanted, 1 egg, 1 coffee, a bit of bread...and their attitude was again of reluctance to provide.

Next to the lake, good breakfast and nice staff. The air conditioning broke during our stay amd we got upgraded to another (better) room. Uncomplicated parking options.

Location although we did not make the most of the lake as we arrived late and left early.

The breakfast area is a bit dated and the breakfast very basic, and a few things broken in our room but all good for a four star hotel.

Wonderful, helpful staff like in the best five-star hotels!Very nice and clean hotel rooms. Comfortable beds and clean linen, which is very important for me.Good location close to the lake.Tasty breakfasts and courteous service.

It would be nice if there were more vegetables at breakfasts, but this is just my personal thought. And it would be useful to renovate the shower (tiles, shower faucets, shower wall). But that's the only thing I have any reservations about.

Great location, we only stayed for one night as travelling from Italy to Germany.Good breakfast and lovely restaurant over the road

The family room was lovely and spacious but very very dated in terms of decor and furniture, hanging trellis on chain from the ceiling to serve as a swinging headboard was different! Sofa chair beds not very comfortable for my children.

Do not stay here. The staff are thé worst and the aircon doesn’t work

We stopped here because it was advertised as having “air conditioning”.It was 32 degrees so it was necessary to have it.When we got to the room after our disappointing meal in their restaurant, it was 32 degrees in the room. I went to reception to see what they could do and was told there was nothing he could do at that time of night and he gave me a fan.The fan obviously did nothing in this heat. We did not sleep a wink all night. The next morning when I was checking out, I said to the young girl on reception that I was not happy to have paid this amount of money and I have no Aircon. She just shrugged her shoulders and carried on typing. I said I understood she could do nothing so maybe she could speak to the manager. She refused to speak to him. I asked for his number she refused to give it to me. I asked her to call from her phone and let me speak to him and she refused and just shrugged. Her only comment was that I had already paid for the room so what could I do. At this point I got very angry with her attitude and said I would not move until I spoke to the manager. Eventually, he walked into the hotel. He was only outside anyway, and insisted that I went into his office, not my husband to speak to him. He made up some ridiculous excuse for why the air-conditioning was not working even though the night receptionist said he agreed it was not working. He said he will contact me after he spoken to the engineer, of course he did not. He just wanted us out of the hotel and no other guest to see that we were complaining. It was very unprofessional of the company. The staff were totally ignorant. The manager was no better. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone that attitude just stinks.

Good location

A free environment There is a good restaurant to eat.

Spacious room and bathroom. Good a/c. There are places to walk or bike.

The bed is too soft.The lake itself is useless. Couldn't swim in there because it was dirty.

Hotel is situated right on the lake. Our room was comfortable, very big, with lake view, great bathroom with bidet, nicely decorated. Staff was very polite and professional. Breakfast was OK.

Air conditioning had some trouble cooling our room, it felt at times as if it was off, even though it was working fine. It would have been nice if there was a kettel and coffee or tea in the room.

Excellent location, very clean room, comfortable double size bed, sufficient breakfast.
