    Pros +

    • We enjoyed being within walking distance of many excellent restaurants and shops. Also it was not far to drive to thermal hot springs and tourist places (coffee/chocolate tours, jungle hikes, etc.). We liked that! The breakfast was good, it was definitely typical Costa Rican breakfast food. I would have liked some plain toasted bread though. Your staff was EXCELENTE! They were all very friendly and helpful, that was great.
    • Super friendly stuff, great location and very good breakfast!
    • I was able to choose my own bed in which I was the only person in the dorm room for the two nights I was there. Across the street are a couple of great restaurants and it’s a block away from the grocery store which is nice to stop at to get snacks at to continue the journey.

    Cons -

    • It was not a great value, by US standards. We could do better for something that cost $135/night per room. Our room was fine in terms of sleeping, but for our friends who stayed next door (Room 24, I think), it was not. They heard loud partying noises coming from the breakfast area until 3 AM. It was raining heavily that night, and they heard rainfall landing on the air conditioning units and metal roofs all night long. They did not sleep well.
    • The chocolate exfoliation that was right next door was not great. It was cold and they left the door open to the business where you could hear the loud noise from the main road. A message in the forest would have been better and more relaxing.
    • Noisy environment. Lof of vehicles noise even in the night and early morning. Not good for late sleepers.

    The upstairs terrace

The wait staff did not have our preordered breakfast ready, and seemed to not know we had requested it, but we saw the request written the day before.

Nice staff and great location overlooking volcano.Great communal area/roof garden..Great breakfast

Bed was not the most comfortable.

    10LucasPosted on: 1-5-2025

Staff were incredible - in special Fran who was outstanding when we arrived. Room was very good, the volcano view helped us to decide what to do and what time we should start our tours.

    Nothing. Everything was great.

    9AIDAPosted on: 8-25-2024

Has a terrace where you can observe the volcano at anytime. The personnel are very courteous and helpful. La Colina is close to the main church, stores, lots of restaurants but their food is really good and prices reasonable. Also they have a share kitchen and groceries store are near.

The TV is small an really high on the wall.

Reasonably priced. Good location, friendly owner!

Small shower/bathroom. Clean room - shared spaces weren’t terrible but not super clean.

    8KingPosted on: 3-1-2024

Breakfast was included in the price of the lodging, and it was an excellent meal. The hotel was centrally located, and everything was within a walking distance.

    9ShobnaPosted on: 2-23-2024

Perfect location right near the centre. All the staff at this hotel were super helpful and really lovely. Staff helped with booking activities and recommendations. Easy to get to different locations for activities in this region/area.

There was no kettle in the rooms. So no tea or coffee making facilities. Breakfast was served from 7am onwards - so unable to make yourself a hot drinks when just chilling at the hotel or if you had a early morning activity.

Great central location & decent breakfast

Next door could see direct into my room from their balcony … no curtain to provide any privacy

the room was spacious and the bathroom was huge, i was alone in the dorm. the girl in the reception was really nice and did a great job!

its a bit too loud in the room i stayed just next to the bar and there were no windows in the room. the boy at the reception in the evening was not helpful at all, very different from the staff in the morning.

    10RochellePosted on: 1-12-2024

    5SusanPosted on: 11-29-2023

It was cheap, and had a room that I needed last minute. I asked at the desk how much and he said $70 best price for a private room- but booking.com told me $30?! Staff were super friendly and welcoming

The hot water didn’t work in the shower, so had to have a cold shower. It needed updating! And there were no ‘windows’, on large windows into the hallway which needed the curtains to be kept closed always.Below average food (especially for the price).Quite noisy too

The overpriced drinks that exclude tax! I can get cheaper drinks In London!!!!
