- My experience at Hotel Am Alten Strom was truly wonderful. It is a comfortable hotel, very well located, close to the harbor, restaurants, the lighthouse, and the beach promenade. My room was spacious and very comfortable. It had a lovely view over the harbor and I could watch the charming landscape while the window. It was lovely.I was pleasantly surprised, because the hotel is listed as a 3-star hotel on Booking, and it feels more a 4-star hotel (or more!) when it comes to the confort, ambience and attention to details.I really appreciated the care the personnel provided, and all the facilitites`. Everything was well taken care of.
- Very close to train station and cruise port. We booked the suite which was wonderful.
Cons -
- If I had to mention one small thing, it would be the pillows — they weren’t very comfortable. Apart from that, my stay was absolutely wonderful!
- Breakfast was NOT included in the price, which I found disheartening. One would think given what we booked and the price we paid that breakfast would be included. To add insult to injury, we had to pay at 15 euro city tax.
- Pre-Stay Communication via Booking.com didn't reach the hotel. The entrance to parking is hard to find

Nice location, spacious, clean room, nice lobby bar

The location was great, very central, a walk from the train station (which is how I arrived). It's very close to tons of places to eat. Easy to walk to the beaches. Enjoyed seeing all the boats in the harbor area. Trains to Rostock left every 20-30 minutes and seamed to run all night.
I wasn't expecting some of the evening partying on the boats. However, that did get quiet fairly quickly. The wifi was not great in my room. I did need to get on for work...
The hotel was fantastic! Right in the middle of everything, and amazing views off our balcony. Breakfast buffet was great as well! Highly reccomend.
The parking garage could be marked better. Instructions said a "brightly colored garage"... it was white, with their logo on it. Brightly colored implies COLOR... It was very difficult to find.
The breakfast was amazing. The room was clean and spacious.
The location of this hotel to the train station and cruise port were excellent. Both were easily walkable. It is also centrally located to shops and restaurants. While this hotel has an elevator, some rooms still have steps to navigate. Inquire if an individual room has steps, If carrying big pieces of luggage is an issue. I would chose this hotel again when visiting.
Knowledge that our particular room had stairs. Large pieces of luggage were difficult to get up to room 307.
The hotel is in a very nice location, close to the train station and beside the river. It is within walking distance of the beach. The view from my room was amazing. The sauna room was nice and clean. The bed was comfy.
We had an unexpected water/canal view with beautiful windows that opened right out. It was like a fairytale. The location was an easy walk to from the train and an easy walk to cruise ship the next day.
Nothing! It was fanatastic. The only only little thing would be usb chargers (in lamps) that would have been helpful for the Americans without the correct adapter for our iPhones.
Excellent breakfast. Super clean room on the 3rd floor with a view of the harbor.
Service was good.
The building consists of a hall and several adjacent spaces. Mixed functions in the hall: No unity.
great location close to train station
Some staff extremely unfriendly (which is typical for Rostock).
Room was good with a private bathroom. Nice view of the harbour from the room (see photo)
Convenient location Very helpful ataff
Room a little stuffyCarpet needs cleaned
So glad we could walk from the train. Also, glad for 24 hrs checkin since we finally arrived around midnight.
waste of money
rude waitress. useless checkout. they don't take American Express or maestro and they made me walk 20 minutes to a cash machine to pay them
Great location. Cute room.
Too much noise comes from the street
the location is superb. Just in the middle of the happenings, but no cars noise around. and there is a bar that opens till late in the might, very cosy if you just want to have a drink or two before bed, and the young bartender will tend your requirement, or offer an alternative if he doesn’t have your fave drinks.
breakfast room. it is nice to have table with a view, but it means like a long way to the buffet. (which is ok, but the room is kind of small and full of tables, so it could be a bit crowded. )
Very clean with all the amenities provided, parking was a bit cramped but its very safe and worth it regardless. There was a safe in the room and a small fridge, with prices of what the bar in the lobby offers.
The bed / mattress was bad and really uncomfortable, same with the pillows. The bed was a bit narrow and the the room itself was also a bit small (its a single room for solo person so its understandable). The shower is also, arguably, too small for a big and/or fat person.
