Pros +
- Location, location, location. Friendly, polite staff. Clean room and bath, comfortable bed.
- Location. Heating was good.
- Very good location at the old city, also close to the waterfront. Convenient location for sightseeing. Breakfast is satisfactory, also there is a discount coupon for the restaurant of the hotel if you decide to use it.
Cons -
- The room door could have an outside knob so that the door cannot be opened from the outside without a key. But no big deal.
- Check in was not very welcoming. Room incredibly small. Basin was so small and below a shelf that it was almost impossible to wash your face and water went everywhere. It said there was a view but it was very poor - of a restaurant in the back.
- Room does not have a minibar refrigerator. Small size TV and both TV and wireless internet is not working with high reliability, we experienced service breaks.

Very nice stay at Hopfenmarkt. Location is really nice and it was really pleasant stay. Hotel is clean and staff is very pleasant.
Tidy and clean, good location in the city centre.
A bit confusing to find the reception and rooms as they are in separate locations, but not impossible.
The staff is excellent and so is the location in Rostock. The beds are very comfortable and the shower has good not water. I think it's the perfect place to stay when you want to visit Rostock or you are going on a cruise. The hotel has an elevator which is a nice plus. Since there is not AC which is not needed make sure you close the window shades and curtains for the sun when it sets. The city tax you pay also entiles for you to red the metro for free which is a huge plus.
Everything was excellent.
Location is very good, it was not noisy but close to many cafes, shops and easy to catch public transport. The room and bathroom were clean, free tee and coffee, comfortable bed, the breakfast was good: eggs, fresh breakfast, cheese, ham, sausages, vegetables, different options of yogurt and cornflakes.
If travel with a children it would be great to add in breakfast crepes or waffles ?
Central and good value
The room decor was a bit ski resort like.
Very central location in Rostock - perfect for arrival and for getting around the city centre. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Everything was very clean. Delicious breakfast.
I could hear some noise from the neighbouring room, so it seemed like the walls were quite thin. Luckily the noise stopped around the time I wanted to sleep. The pillow wasn't very comfortable. A thicker pillow would have meant a better night's sleep.
Comfortable stay, clean, location was good for walking around Rostock, near to cafes, restaurants. Short tram ride to main station.
City tax price should be shown when booking, it cost 14.90euro extra for only 1 night stay
Very central and kind and helpful staff.
Out of season the reception closes at 8pm but since I came a little after and called before, I got a welcome from the staff anyway, so it is actually fully compensated.
The bed was absolutely amazing. I'm one of the people who can't sleep in a new place and here I slept like a dream
The hotel is not located where the website claims it is (at the time of writing the address given is: Buchbinderstr. 10, 18055 Rostock. The real address is Hopfenmarkt 19). I received an email telling me the address for the reception and a warning that the reception is at other localisation than the hotel. That address also turned out to not be correct (the email said Hopfenmarkt 20a when it is Hopfenmarkt 18), which made for an extremely frustrating experience just getting to my roomThere might be a lift to hotel rooms, but the lift is located in a different building than the rooms, which means the hotel is definitely not wheelchair accessible, with narrow stairs and key-locked doors right beside themI travelled in winter and the tiny radiator was definitely undersized for the needs of the room, as I had to wear all my clothes all the time to stay warm when I was insideThe room had enough space for a proper sized table or desk and yet there was the tiniest possible round table that was useless to my needsI was not provided a bottle of water during the whole stay. There were also no tea bags, only instant coffeeThe breakfast room is in a steakhouse, which means you have to go outside to eat breakfast and you might as well just go to a nearby bakery
Location is great, staff is friendly and helpful
Rooms are minuscule, no free parking for guests, breakfast is scarce
Quiet, effective heating, spacious room with kettle and mostly reliable Internet (although occasionally dropped out)
Frustrating to occasionally lose Internet hotspot. Not much choice of channels on television
A little tricky to find your way there if you don´t have a navigator. Not possible to park outside, so just throw your luggage on the pavement and navigate in to the lobby on the corner. Helpful staff, when installed and having oriented to the hotel´s own basement garage, you will find yourself having landed ríght in the very middle of epic Hansa Town Rostock.
location
While booking the room there was no price transparency. Finally, we landed in paying 14,- Euro more for one night which is unfair.
Location, staff, good breakfast
The nice price worthy breakfast and extremely friendly helpful staff in the restaurant, also in the late evening upon my arrival
A bit unclear how to find my room
Breakfast at the restaurant "LEON'S" was fine with a good selection of bread, cheeses, meat, milk products, scrambled eggs, bacon an sausages and a few pastries.Walking impaired persons have it easy inside the hotel with an elevator going from the parking garage at the bottom to the top floor.
Not an issue as such - but the fact that you have to go outside to another restaurant (LEON'S) to eat breakfast does take away some flexibility, so if you really need to look for things that could be better, then this is it.Also at the restaurant "LEON'S" there are quite a few stairs when you need to use their bathroom, so this could be an issue for some.We ordered a stay for two adults and a child at 11 years. The day before arrival we double checked everything and saw a standard description (I assume this was supplied by Booking.com) that stated that unless it was explicitly expressed and agreed upon any extra children would have to sleep in their parent's bed for a minor extra fee. Since we had already booked with the extra "child fee" being included, we were disappointed and packed an inflatable mattress for our daughter. However, when we arrived the hotel had arranged an extra bed for our daughter. So the hotel DID deliver as we hoped/expected - but the communication when booking through booking.com was not ideal in this situation.
CleanessCentral location
Internet connection was unstable and very slow and sometimes un accessible. The extra money could be considered in advance in bookingstep.. Possibly i could decide for another place.
