Ycona Eco-Luxury Resort, Zanzibar

- Rooms and facilities are clean, tidy, and spacious.- Staff generally tried to be helpful and they were very friendly.- Breakfast portions were large and enough.- Even on the days we couldn’t have breakfast, they packed everything they normally offer in the breakfast lounge.- There was no limit to the filtered water we could get.

- It really doesn’t feel truly luxury or eco-friendly despite how it’s advertised.- Food is average at best even in the concept restaurants of the resort and it is very very expensive. In terms of quality, we experienced more authentic and flavorful food in local restaurants nearby the hotel. We had way better quality and service in similar range resorts in other countries (even Maldives) for much less money.- Sea and beach conditions are poor: muddy water, strong waves. We didn’t see anyone swimming during our stay.- Online photos of the beach are misleading. We found out from the locals that because of the location and the winds, the sea conditions are never good enough. It was a big dissapointment.- Beach lounge pool is small, not very well maintained, and not suitable for adults because of its size.- We had several small misunderstandings with staff which bothered us at times.

Elegant, beautifully designed room with a true luxury feel. Staff are professional, courteous, and attentive.

Breakfast portions are small despite being good; Lunch, dinner and drinks such cocktails are pricey. Minibar snacks and room service include charges should be complimentary to match the resort’s luxury standard.Power outages were frequent, and the WiFi network did not work reliably, which affected connectivity.Side note: The New Year’s party offered poor value for what was provided, only one free drink for the toast and water during dinner, while all other drinks were charged. The music was underwhelming, and the event did not reflect the price paid as internal guests.All these concerns were mentioned during checkout.

Everything was exceptional. Customer service was A+. Staff are very welcoming, Friendly & are always will to help. Special thanks to Anya, Joseph, Emmanuel, Ashraf & everyone else who’s name I forgot. You guys are awesome. I’ll definitely be coming back.

What I loved most about the resort is that they provide everything a guest might need. There’s really no need to leave the property — it offers a complete and fully satisfying experience.A special mention goes to Omar, the Egyptian staff member, who was extremely helpful, attentive, and made sure we had everything we asked for. Big thanks to him and the entire team, including Layla, Omar the buggy driver, Roberto, and everyone else who contributed to making our stay exceptional.

What I didn’t like is that the food wasn’t as delicious as expected. The quality felt average compared to the price, and overall I found it quite expensive for what it offered.

The resort was beautiful and we loved the pool villa. Service was amazing We absolutely loved our stay and it was a perfect 10/10 experience. The resort is beautiful, peaceful, and feels secluded. Everything feels private and thoughtfully designed.The staff were incredible, genuinely warm, attentive, and always a message away. You’d send a note from your phone and within minutes, someone would be at the door with exactly what you needed. Anja, the manager, was exceptional and made sure every detail was taken care of.We stayed in a pool villa and absolutely loved it. It was spacious, bright, and private. It was the perfect size and the main pool was stunning as well. Every space around the resort felt luxurious and well maintained.What really stood out was the care and thoughtfulness of the team. We arrived with a cold, and they immediately arranged a doctor. Later, when we got a sunburn, they sent over fresh aloe vera.It truly felt like everything was designed for our comfort. We left feeling cared for, relaxed, and already excited to come back.

We had an amazing experience at Ycona Resort - it felt like stepping into paradise. The place is stunning, with crystal-clear waters, white sandy beaches, and lush surroundings. Everything was impeccably clean and well-maintained. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived. Special thanks to Emmanuel, who went above and beyond to make our stay smooth and enjoyable. His calming nature, warmth and professionalism were truly appreciated. The breakfast was delicious, with a great variety of fresh and tasty food served daily. We especially enjoyed the International flavors and the freshness of every meal. The ambiance was breathtaking, perfect for swimming and snorkeling. The whole team made us feel genuinely welcomed and cared for. If you're looking for a peaceful, beautiful escape in Zanzibar, Ycona is the resort to be at. Will return & highly recommend!

The staff at Ycona are known for their friendliness and professionalism. Many guests have highlighted the team’s dedication to making their stay memorable, often going above and beyond to accommodate special requests.  Each villa is thoughtfully designed, featuring private pools, rooftop jacuzzis, and panoramic views of the ocean or gardens. The interiors are spacious and modern, providing a luxurious yet comfortable stay.

The food was good and the location is perfect. The staff were so friendly and helpful.

The hotel design is one of the best in the world. Every corner is beautiful. The hotel is very organized, and the staff is amazing and smiling. The beachfront villa with a pool is amazing, with a sea view and easy access to the beach. The food is fresh and delicious. The highlight was the private boat tour to Mnemba Island. The hotel offers many free amenities, including kayaks, beach shoes, bikes, and more. We really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend it.

The stuff were friendly and so welcoming. Felt like royalty and just want to go back. The private pool, the views on the roof top, the cleanliness...everything was just breathtaking!

Due to distance and location, we planned to start off early from the port thankfully ended up getting to the facility 2 hrs before check-in. The lady at the reception then asked us to pay extra if we wanted to get to the room (no problem with that). We then asked her if we could do something else like visit the restaurant or at the bar instead of paying $150 extra. She then went on to ask what we could afford to which we said it was not about the money. She then asked to check with the manager and came back to tell us that we could sit at the bar or restaurant. That was a bit annoying especially after a long drive from the port.

The coordination of all the staff members was exceptional, everybody did their part to make our stay very comfortable. The resort is very beautiful and big which is easily accessible with the use of the complimentary electric scooters and bikes provided by the team. Would definitely revisit. ?

The Best Hotel in Zanzibar!We only stayed for one night but wished we had booked it for our entire stay in Zanzibar. From the moment we arrived, the welcome was incredible. My husband had been bitten by a monkey at another hotel, and the staff immediately called their in-house doctor, ensuring he received the best care. Their kindness and attentiveness truly stood out.The entire team makes you feel right at home, and the hospitality is unmatched. The resort itself is stunning, the food is exceptional, and every detail is thoughtfully taken care of. We’re so sad to leave this amazing place and can’t wait to return!

Stayed at Ycona Eco-Luxury Resort in Zanzibar, a peaceful retreat with a spacious villa and a private pool, just steps away from the main communal pool and bar. The atmosphere was serene, perfect for relaxation. The resort has three restaurants operating on rotation, with one open each day. Service was warm and welcoming.

The resort’s location was a bit farther from the city than I expected, about an hour’s drive. While the staff was friendly, there was a noticeable push for drink sales. I understand it’s part of their sales approach, likely encouraged by management, but it felt a bit excessive, especially having cocktails promoted at every dinner, seemingly more so with us as a talkative and friendly couple.

The hotel is beautiful and the staff are wonderful, especially Omar. He cared about the smallest details and helped us with everything. He deserves respect and appreciation and provided us with all means of comfort and happiness. The customer service was very good and even the food was very delicious. It was a special experience for us that we enjoyed.
