Pros +
- Location is good, most employees are bilingual
- The room was clean
- Full hot breakfast included, allowed early check in and breakfast for a small fee when we arrived off the bus from Pavones at 0900 in the morning, which was amazing after three hours of bumping along in a packed bus. Hotel is convenient to the airport, marina, and hospital. Short cab ride from the bus station. Prompt laundry service and huge pool. Tennis, ping pong, gym. Very reasonable massage available. Comfy bed. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Big change of pace from a remote cabina.
Cons -
- Stayed Friday before we flew out at 6am. We were in bed almost asleep and the band started at their restaurant so loud the glass on the windows were rattling. Horribly loud. We had to get up, get dressed, and move to a new room.
- Dark room, no refrigerator or coffee pot
- The hotel was difficultTo find in the pouring rain. At check-in, the staff did not have any umbrellas to help guests stay dry. The breakfast the following morning was barely adequate.

Restaurant prices were steep for the area, but the restaurant is convenient and the service friendly. The hotel also has some vibes of glory from decades past— but for me this kind of adds to the appeal, and really only needs more patronage to fix. If you are looking for “new” just be aware.
The bed was comfortable, the location in regards to the free zone is good, otherwise not good. The internet was good. The price was WAY to HIGH ! We had a Suite and it was a huge disappointment !
Termites all over the place. Paint falling from the ceilings, wooden ceilings completely falling down, termites in the beds, TV is only in Spanish except the Disney channel, breakfast was typical like in any cheap "Soda" in Costa Rica, our first balcony in the Junior Suite was exactly 2m2, enough for one person to sit and watch the parking lot with the emergency generator. We got one hanger for all our clothes, there was no plug to connect the coffee machine. The place is way overpriced, it's old, needs major maintenance, at some point they did some const in the pool area which they stopped and just walked away with green sheets hanging there along side in the second floor covering up the disaster area. The whole thing was just BAD !
The staff was sooo friendly and carefully, 10/10!!!The hotel has a good location and a good relation of price.
The coffee should be better and the WiFi.
We were offered a room which was totally mouldy, stinky and you couldn’t use the windows or see out as there was a wall millimetres from them blocking everything. Hotel filthy!
Driving up to this place was initial disappointment, having just come from other parts of Costa Rica. It looks like this was probably a really fun place in the 60s but nothing has been updated since. The deluxe room only has a double bed which is so small for two adults. They also don’t tell you that it is interior facing! No windows to the outside despite it being advertised as garden view. we moved to a room with two beds downstairs in the dungeon, no mini fridge, definitely mold there and facing the street. No view at all whatsoever at this place. The first night at the restaurant, there was some sort of party and we thought oh no. There were women soliciting / working the night and we were truly worried for our safety. The rest of the days were ok - I went to the pool regularly which I learned had just been cleaned. It’s a public pool so people from the town come and enjoy it which was not a big deal. The staff at check in desk were really kind (as were all the Costa Rican people I met) and one of the only redeeming things about this resort. The breakfast was also plentiful and good. The restaurant staff were not that friendly or attentive. not once did they ask if I wanted anything while at the pool for 5 days. They lost out on revenue there for sure.Overall, I wish I never came here. I didn’t have a choice as partner was fishing. Thank goodness for the pool as it was nice and clean.
location
breakfast was bad, cleaning after first night was very poor
The staff were always happy to help whether it be laundry, transport or help with tours. The communal areas were spacious and airy. The meals were always very tasty, if a little on the large side for us. There was a general relaxed feel to the place. We thoroughly enjoyed our few days here.
We would have liked a kettle in the room to make tea (sorry we are English)
It is well maintained for an aged place
Some areas that are not in function might give you an eerie feeling as you navigate the maze downstairs
good restaurant and friendly staff
Kind of a holiday club dating form the 70th.
Location, bed
No hot water or at least no sign of it, breakfast hours start to late
Close to Golfito's Duty Free Zone
Parking is small
I enjoyed kayaking then swimming in the pool at the resort. The food was wonderful. The staff are what makes it such I pleasant stay. Friendly, helpful and beautiful staff.
? Not any thing
Good value for money, nice swimming pool area, decent restaurant, pool area open for locals during the weekend
No consistent offering for breakfast, room was a bit dated
Very close to the ideal hotel room. Very cozy. Very spacious. Very nice staff. Amazing and comfortable pool. The room was excellent. The bed was spacious and more than big enough for two people. Everything was clean. Food in the restaurant was good and with very fast service. Breakfast was good and filling.
Not much to dislike. If I have to point something out, which are all small items where I think the hotel can improve. No water bottles, we came unprepared and didn’t bring water bottles. The light in the room was the LED white would make it cozier if it was more warm. One of the night lights weren’t working, which worked out because my girlfriend reads book and I read ebooks. The shower valve for selection was worn and didn’t allow full selection of either one. The shelf for the toilet sink was unsteady so my shaver fell down.I think if if these small things were inspected and fixed, it would only take maximum 5 minutes for everything except for the valve, that doesn’t matter it would be a truly perfect hotel room.
Great pool! And, I loved all of the artwork in the hotel. The room was large and comfortable.
Downtown? What downtown? The location was not great, I think better location is near bar La Bomba. Breakfast was average at most. Facilities are big, dated, pool nice and gym was nice. We had a lunch there as well which was expensive and then they charged us 20% service fee. Not cool. Not fair! I purposely paid for this place $90 - more than I wanted to, more than other places because I thought the location was great. It’s not. Not worth the money. Go something else!
?
The room was spacious and nicely decorated in traditional Spanish colonial style, and the bed was comfortable. The hotel interior is decorated with artwork depicting the history of the area from the last century. The outdoor space was outstanding.
The strength of the wifi signal was inconsistent.
