Hotel Goldener Hahn

At the great price (off-season, Christmas), I was pleasantly surprised to find a refrigerator and a full size mirror, as well as TV (which I never use) in the room. The location is superb, close to the train station and the center, but not really noisy outside, just some passerby(s). Shared facilities were clean and plentiful with 2 WC and 3 showers per floor. Wi-Fi worked great. Check-in is mostly via key-box, but well explained and easy to use. The room was warm, but with no temperature control.

The mattress on my single bed was sooo soft, which is very unusual for Germany. Some guests were smoking on the stairs, in spite of the signs in the room. The hotel needs to put “no smoking” signs on the stairs also.

Bunk beds are metal so they make a lot of noise when you turn.My matress was old and had a shape in it.

This is really not good very cold room without heater outside cold and room also cold i call and i say this not working but they didn't Help me i don't come next bad experience

1- The Location.2- Fast self check-in & out.

1- The smell of the bathroom, there was some dirt (I assume shit) on the wall behind the toilet papers.2- There was wifi without internet connection (so basically no Internet) I contacted the property through booking.com and he told me that he can't do anything about it.3- I woke up and found an insect on my bed :)

Room smelt musty.My room was by the stairs and the stairs are old and creeky so it was very loud when people were going up and down the stairs. The bathroom/shower room smelt like a sewer. It’s more like a boarding house . The staff were very responsive and it was an easy check in that was the only plus with the only stay and it being 5 mins walk from HBF.

It was restfull stay and noone disturbed me. Room was comfortable.Location is very close to central station. Perfect for someone traveling with train.

There were only dark curtains for windows. Opposite property is very close so you have choice either fully openness or very dimmed light in room.WC, staircase and showers were cold expecially in morning. All windows were open during night.There were no kitchen and common area for guests.TV did not work.Check in was not smooth and I had to call them to get in.

The room appeared to be clean and neat, the hotel is located close by to the station, easy access to the room without going through a reception.

The hotel is really old and hence every step that I took on the staircase made a creaking noise and the room door had the same noise, the mirrors were not properly attached to the door, the room was not well lit at night. There were bed bugs on the bed and the TV remote wasn't working, no reception to directly contact.

it is very simple, moderate clean, in the historical center and close to main train station.convenient to stay short (1-2 nights)

It's not a hotel , it's a dirty pub with small dirty uncomfortable outdated rooms above it.Room only accessible via steep narrow squeaky ancient wooden stairs with dirty bed linen in the way .Communication with whoever owns this horrible place is very very difficult.My key wasn't accessible via the key box system and since it's not a hotel there's now staff or reception.A cleaner was in the pub ,she let me in and gave me a key.The owner talked to the cleaner and insisted I go to an ATM and take cash to pay ,my instructions were to leave the cash in the room when I left ,there is no check out because there is no reception. And an invoice was not possible I thought this was very suspicious and refused ,then I contacted booking com.The room is small and dirty . I never felt comfortable there ,I was itching and scratching the whole time.This is a disgusting service , I am so angry that I stayed there . The owner is a terrible person that just wants to take your money with zero effort.How this place can be called a hotel is not understandable,I will be complaing to the Duisburg tourist office ,the hotel commissions and to the hygiene AMT.

Checking in and out was very pleasant. I didn't see any staff, actually I didn't see anyone in the hotel at all. But the garbage was taken out, there were fresh towels and I didn't feel abandoned.

It would be nice if the floors were cleaned from time to time. And there was an unpleasant smell in the room, like cigarette smoke

This was a budget Hotel and for 50 euros for the night probably was good value for money for a back packer or someone on a budget. The single room served its purpose with plentiful supply of hot and cold water.Only a short walk from the main station.You usually get what you pay for.

When arriving the front entrance to the hotel and bar was boarded up which was a worry. I then realised there was a side entrance which had locking key boxes on the alcove to the side door. I was slightly early and wanted to drop my bag off before exploring but this side door was locked. After messaging the owner the side door was opened by a cleaner and she allowed me to check in to one of the rooms. The bar area was now closed and only opened for functions. The entrance and stairway to the rooms was dark and unwelcoming and had obscure gothic pictures on the wall which made for a creepy experience.

Close to the train station. Easy checking with key locker and checkout in letterbox.It is an acceptable place for one night.

The house is old meaning that you can hear everything so earplugs are needed. The floor in the room was sticky.

Smoker-smelling room, creaking bed, old mattress, cheap overused bedsheets, no safe, wardrobe on its last legs. Naked power outlet in the bathroom.

I now that facilities would be outside the room.I didn't know that there was not even a washbowl in the room.Also the door auto-locks, so I have always been afraid that I might lock out myself at night when going to the toilet. (Fortunately this did not happen.)
