    Pros +

    • The Floor was filthy when you walked in, the gal at the desk could not help us in any way. We arrived 10 minutes before check in and were told the rooms were not ready because we were too early. Would not recommend this property.
    • I enjoyed my stay as a solo traveler. Quiet, clean and cozy. Also the location was good.
    • It’s a nice calm property, room itself is always clean and ready for the guest. The staff is very welcoming and professional

    Cons -

    • The rooms were not cleaned when we arrived. One of the rooms was for a man that is 6ft tall and the bed was a small short twin with the heater up against his head. He could not sleep there.
    • The single room is tiny! There is no headboard - your head rests on the old style cast iron heater!! The window blackout blind was broken. BUT worst; the new management / owners are unbelievably rude!! I went early for breakfast and kindly asked for a cappuccino which was served no problems, then at 9:10 I asked if I could have a second one and offered to pay for it; the young lady said in a snotty tone that she switched off the machine and that there was regular brewed coffee in the Thermo… ok - not a great start! Then other guests were checked out, but when I friendly asked to check out, she just abruptly said “on the tablet”… I always enjoyed a chat with the previous staff and they were super glad to check me out so I said that I was used to a more friendly approach and I got literally a teenage grunt sound from here with the remark that it stated everywhere that they have no reception and then proceeded to talk to the mother in some east European language. The pair also regularly went just outside the front door to smoke with the smell coming into the breakfast room.. very strange and unpleasant experience!
    • I have 2 months old baby with me. They gave me 3 floor room. It was hard to cary her with the stairs. There is no escalator. Next time they can book first floor room for the families.

I have come to stay here for the last few times and always had a pleasant stay… convenient location and a nice breakfast - until you talk to the new management / owners (daughter and mother)

Ratingen was a cute place to visit. Staff were so nice to us and place was okey overall. We find parking spots easily. Area was safe.

Good bed, for a solo traveler walking the Camino super place to stay.

No elevator. The bathroom did not smell good.

    7FergusonPosted on: 9-14-2025

    Beautiful old historic hotel

Cold! Heat was turned off we called but they said that they don’t turn the heat on until October!

    1HosseinPosted on: 6-30-2025

The room I stayed in (Room 42) was quite small and had really poor air conditioning. Now imagine being stuck in 38-degree heat with no AC — it's unbearable. You might think of opening the windows for some fresh air, but good luck with that; the insects will invade the room immediately. The bathroom was also disappointing — it's really not suitable for tall people. Everything feels cramped, and there’s barely enough space to move around. What made it worse was that the room wasn’t even properly cleaned. If you open the bathroom window, you can even spot cockroaches. Definitely not a pleasant experience.

no AC. was cold inside. Too much noise passing through the walls and the door. Plug on the wall for mini freezer was loosen.

Great hotel in the heart of the town. Nicely redecorated in a comfortable modern style. Amazing staff who went out of their way to assist and make it a comfortable stay. Will definitely return!
