Pool was nice
Way too far out of town! Bad hamburger and noise from adjacent rooms were paper thin.
Clean, simple, good value room.
A little off Camino path. Breakfast was mediocre, coffee was watery
Clean and comfortable rooms. Friendly front desk staff. Since we were going to leave early before breakfast started, they were kind enough to have a packed breakfast for us at 5 am. Very nice attached restaurant as well as cafe.
Right on the Camino. After nearly 2 weeks of guesthouses, shared apartments and hostels it was very nice to be in a real hotel. Even though the Hotel Scala is one of those old places with faded carpets and long hall ways with dozens of rooms all exactly the same it had good a/c which was wonderful after days without it in the Spanish heatwave and there was lovely crisp linen. My room was right down the end of a hallway and very quiet. Okay food in the cafeteria with extensive kitchen hours.
The wifi is terrible. My laptop warned me the connection wasn’t secure. That didn’t really matter because the connection continually dropped out so I mostly had to use my phone service anyway.
The hotel was beautiful. Some reviews said it was run down but I found it to be lovely. Historic. Clean. We were exhausted after a day of walking and it was wonderful to have an air conditioned room with a large shower right on the Camino. The cafe downstairs served sandwiches and burgers if you want to eat before the dinner hour. The food was very good. The room was large and clean.
The staff were rude. Not just one person but all involved behind the desk. I chose to ignore it, and smiled through the process. I was hot and tired but when we walked into the elevator, my husband, who usually says nothing, made a comment. He was spot on. In general, they seem to cater to tour buses and not the average person. We didn't require anything above or beyond our room so we only had to deal with the staff checking in and checking out. Checking in was ten minutes. If you can get past that, then I would recommend staying.
Clean. Good location along the Camino. Fair price.
Breakfast needs eggs
Great location along the Camino route. Breakfast buffet starts at 0700, which is earlier than most.
Close to the Camino.
We booked 2 rooms for 4 people. When we arrived, we were told they put us in a “large suite.” It was one room with 2 beds pushed up against each other. Very small. Very gross. We were so disgusted we did not even stay there. We immediately booked a new hotel and took a taxi to get out of Hotel Scala! Do not stay here. It is VERY old and outdated. They did not give us a refund but honestly I just wanted to leave.
Right on the Camino path. Comfortable rooms with air conditioning that worked almost too well. The restaurant downstairs was a little splurge the night before our end of the Camino. Honestly was one of the best grilled steaks I have ate anywhere! The server, while she was the only one staffed tables, was friendly, efficient, and wished us a buen Camino. I didn't get her name.
Front desk staff was a little inhospitable, but there was a large group checking in. Morning staff much better.
Great location to camino, very comfortable bed and linens, quiet, air conditioned. Good restaurants on site with large portions for price.
Older property but well-maintained.
It had everything
They had a chest tournament on the days i was there and it was so loud and crowded. I would have booked elsewhere if they had told me

Older problem opening door not sound proof
I had an amazing experience at this hotel. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful from the moment I arrived. The room was clean, spacious, and very comfortable, with all the amenities I needed. I especially appreciated the attention to detail and the calm, welcoming atmosphere throughout the property. The location was perfect — close to everything, but still peaceful. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.
It was a great stop during the Camino de Santiago, a luxury compared to some previous hostels, had all the amenities, a good big breakfast, and was clean, and very cost effective.
The place was a bit dated, but I guess it did add to the atmosphere, overall happy enough
A spacious, smart and well-equipped hotel, with a choice of restaurants and good buffet breakfast. The Camino passes right by the door, so perfect stopover for walkers.
great location in the camino. great common areas with good food options. amazing breakfast options. good shower with warm water and good pressure.
Very unsatisfactory - upset walking plans for next day.
Radiator on full heat all night, couldn't be controlled. Staff member came and basically just said she could do nothing....very unsatisfactory. Wd had to leave window open for any comfort at all, then there was an awful lot of vehicle noise from N550 and two dogs barking incessantly all night. Very poor customer service
