Staff were helpful and friendly. Room was nicely sized. Shower was excellent. Room had outdoor balcony (shared with other rooms along wing). Park setting with walking paths, lake. Stop for Bus 50 into Leiden Centraal nearby.
No elevator for luggage transport. Cleaning staff, if around, will likely help taking luggage up and down stairs. Included breakfast unremarkable but some variety. Castle is really just a large home now used for meetings and events. Plain interior furniture. Hotel nearby is where guests stay.
Great breakfast and the location is beautiful
No air conditioning in the room so made for a warm night
The location is very good.
Restaurant staff are very rude. A bunch of kids running the restaurant. Who has no manner or clue what they are doing. We went 1 hour before the closing time of the restaurant. One waiter asked us to take a seat. We sat and waited for the menu. In the meantime, another family comes in, and they were seated and got menu card. We asked the same waiter, and we also have a menu card. He replies "sorry no food for you, the kitchen is closed." While he just gave the menu card to another table who came after us.I don't know whether it's racist or not, but I was the only non White person in the restaurant. When we complain about this behavior to reception, that waiter came behind us and started arguing. No managers were on sight. Very bad experience.
The location was beautiful and it was very convenient for everything we wanted to see. The rooms were a bit small but we had all we needed, the beds were comfortable and everything was clean. Our room was near the stairwell and it was a bit noisy when people came in or out during the night and early morning.
The rooms were a bit small, the stairs were a bit loud outside our door and breakfast began to be cleaned up before 10:00am, when it "officially" was supposed to end. Even so, the positives far outweigh the negatives.
location & tranquility
the unprofessional reaction of the dinner cook to feedback given about lukewarm soup which was very tasty. June 8
The setting was superb, lovely walks through the forest and a stately home nearby. It was the birthday of one of the group - the restaurant arranged a lovely table, bubbles, decorations and desert with sparklers.
The room could have had an easy chair.
Friendly personnel, very nice environment, super clean rooms, delicious dinner and breakfast. The hotel is very calm and relaxing, the greenery around was beautiful.

A very nice setting around the property.
Minimal service and didn't have enough staff for restaurant, especially since it's high season.
A nice hotel, in a beautiful location
Breakfast could have been a little bit better (e.g. more variety in cheese, ham, omelette)
Quiet location in wooded area next to the castle. Restaurant on site. Friendly staff. Large car park. Good breakfast.
It would be easier for international guests if there was a clear sign saying HOTEL on arrival at the car park. We weren’t sure we were in the right place to start with!
The setting is fabulous and the public areas exceptional. The bedroom however is dire - no bathroom should be that small for the price. In fact it is all overpriced together with the wine in the restaurant with Good food but a menu so limited.
Very quiet and nicely located hotel. Great surrounding. Nice lobby.
I was disappointed by the breakfast. Tasteless vegetables, artificial scrambled eggs, lousy coffee.
Comfortable bed, good breakfast, staff were really friendly and helpful, price, I liked the bedroom and bathroom, doors onto the garden, exceptional grounds
Separate toilet
The hotel is about a 45 minute walk from the center of Leiden or about 20 minutes away on the 55 bus (which runs very late). It's a very peaceful part of town with very little light pollution too so I really enjoyed having the best of both worlds here whilst visiting Leiden. I could have a great time in the centre, but be guaranteed a restful night's sleep too and a very pleasant walk in the surrounding wood and nearby canals first thing in the morning. The facilities and food were great, but the staff were exceptional. I unfortunately needed to change plans due to an unexpected family issue and requested to move my non-refundable booking forward a couple of days without penalty. The staff not only agreed, but offered kind words of support too. I would highly recommend this hotel.
+ Nice location, surrounded with the woods.+ Free parking+ 25 mins walking distance to the centre of Leiden+ Breakfast
Standard rooms in reality looking like from another hotel. Style and comfort of the rooms does not correspond to the rest of the hotel.Reception and restaurant are looking very nice and renovated but the rooms are very basic and cold. Rooms are located in the basic wing of the hotel - it is not on the pictures. There was no safe in the room.FYI: There is no access to the "castle" on the lake - this is not part of the hotel - the pictures might be missleading in this way.Breakfast buffet could have wider selection.Overall the price was high for 3*hotel and tourist tax is also high (not included in the price on booking)
The staff makes this place very special. This was my 4th stay in 6 months. The staff goes out of their way to accommodate special needs, with an attentiveness that is rare. It feels like an family-run hotel. Thankfully, the restaurant menu is back up to its usual high quality, after a brief period of misguided “menu simplification”.
Nothing worth mentioning.
Lovely grounds, good area close to public transport. Clean rooms and bicycles available for rent for day rides.
