Hotel Schlemmer Das familäre Altstadt - Hotel mit Herz

The staff was professional, attentive and pleasant. We took the option of having dinner and breakfast included in our overnight stay. Dinner and breakfast were very good. The in-room bathroom facilities as well as the beds were excellent. We were pleased that there was a garage facility.

The room could need a little more TLC (Tender loving care) by putting some friendlier lights (overhead light is shockingly bright!).

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO LIKE

Staff were rude from the start. Unhelpful, clearly wanted nothing to do with out-of-town visitors. Hotel was very difficult to find inside a closed pedestrian area and we were told to park our car about a half mile away and walk back with our bags by receptionist. Thankfully another young man allowed us to park in the garage at the hotel. Receptionist was terrible! Town is all but deserted and sad looking, unlike the photos. Room was so spartan and again not like the pictures. Would never even recommend this dump to anyone.

This was only emergency stay for my husband when his car broke down on the way to Slovakia and was the closest accommodation he was able to reach by foot.I would like to thank receptionist to help my husband contacting the repair shop due to his lack of German language knowledge even though it ended up them being scammers unwilling to help him, but that is another story that has nothing to do with this hotel.Breakfast was very presentable and of good taste.

Location was perfect as plenty on your doorstep which was a pleasant surprise for our last minute overnight stop.

We were lucky enough to be allowed to park in one of the 4 spaces round the back of the hotel, but the understanding is that usually you need to park a fair walk away. We had our dog with us and a lot of luggage that couldn’t be stored in the car overnight so this would have been a nightmare if we hadn’t been so lucky.

Excellent centrally located hotel in a pleasant shopping street / entertainment district with beautiful half-timbered facade. Free parking is a little further away, found after some searching thanks to a friendly and helpful desk hostess. Old hotel, somewhat dated (creaking floor, sloping walls, many stairs) but spacious, clean room. Extensive and excellent breakfast. Close to the motorway exit, ideal as a stopover.

Indication where to find the hotel parking area was missing. Bar/Restaurant was closed on Monday.

Breakfast was ok, i was expecting much more, considering how expensive the room was.Also, considering other breakfasts which i've had in other hotels in Germany, this was very poor, with very few options.

Rooms are definitely not the ones in the pictures! Furniture was old, room floor was squeaky, rooms are not insulated, as you could hear all the doors slamming, when people were getting out of their rooms.Also, breakfast was not excellent, but acceptable.

The location was excellent, close to the highway and with restaurants and bars in walking distance. The hotel is in a beautiful characteristic building. Good breakfast. Note that the parking is not immediately adjacent to the property, we had a small overnight bag to take with us and left the larger luggage in the car.

The pillows were too thick.

All was good, place is charming and good equipped. Staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good. Free parking option reserved for the hotel in a 3 min walk.

We were arriving at night, and the instructions given on how to find the room (in another building that was not labeled) were not easy to follow after a long trip in the dark. Simple map would be a great help. No remarks other than that, we totally enjoyed the stay.

Free breakfast to go along with an exceptional price of the rooms. We needed a place to stay urgently due to an unforseen circumstance, and were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the stay even though the price was low.

we appreciated the location, ability to walk to everything we wanted to see, including Schloss Montebaur & the outlet stores. Nice to be near a variety of restaurants. A very relaxing area to stay.

we found the floor of the shower stall a bit slippery.we were sad to find the restaurant closed early on Sunday, & closed on Monday. We heard good reports on the food- but didn't get a chance to sample it. there are lots of stairs, not an issue for us but could be for some.

The location was great; right in the city center with several restaurants and bars within easy walking distance. Huge room.

the large pillows are OK- but they were quite hard. difficult to sleep comfortably on them. softer ones would help immensely. also Victor's restaurant was always closed

Good things about the hotel: location - city center, hotel restaurant which serves German and international cusine, hotel staff, room size.

Things I dislike: bad comfort, loud floors, breakfast choice got worse across last few times I stayed in this hotel

Property was in a lovely location, close to the motorway but far enough away to see what a stunning town can offer.The property has a lovely entrance and the room was basic but clean and proved d everything that was needed.

The ‘free parking’ location could have been advertised a bit better. We couldn’t find the location so needed up parking elsewhere where
