Great location, friendly helpful staff, fantastic breakfast . Really good value for money.

Thought the water bottle should be refilled each day. Noise can echo up the stair case at times.

Rooms are very small , the advertised pictures are not in line in terms of room space, on the pictures rooms seem larger. In the room the smoke detector was placed right above the bed with a very flashy led light blinking all night every 30 seconds,which woke us up. Light switches were placed very awkward at the bed end, the pillow easily touches the light switch turning on the lights unexpectedly. For breakfast we missed a good espresso or cappuccino , the coffee was served in coffee cans (americano).

Very friendly staff and excelent location. Room with ocean view.

What a lovely hotel - so clean and airy with a fantastic view out across the sea. The staff could not have been nicer and looked after us and our bikes perfectly. Breakfast had a really broad range of options for a relatively smaller hotel - would easily recommend.

The room was renewed recently: bed, painting, lights, curtains,.... Although not very big, room with view on the sea. Nice breakfast buffet in the restaurant with view on the sea and beach of de Haan. Parking nereby not provided by the hotel.

It seems the hotel has been renovated recently, very pleasant surprise! Lovely staff, excellent location and good cuisine (excellent breakfast and dinner).

The only reason I’m not giving a 10/10 is that the rooms were not very soundproof. We could hear the other guests come up and down the stairs, enter their room and use the hairdryer… But other than that, it was an excellent stay! Used some earplugs to block out the noise to sleep at night, and had a fantastic sleep.

The location.

We booked a room at Strandhotel based on the appealing photos and positive reviews on both the hotel website and Booking. Unfortunately, our experience was far from what was promised. When we arrived on July 27, we were given the room on the ground floor towards the street, which to our surprises did not match the photos at all. The room was nothing like advertised: the floor wasn’t the hardwood shown in pictures but was instead covered with old, stained carpet. Instead of a double bed as promised, there were two singles pushed together. There was a foul smell in the room, reminiscent of a closed, unventilated space, and the curtains were not clean but stained with yellow marks. The sofa was in such poor condition that we did not even dare to sit on it, and the “air conditioning” was a mobile unit that did not cool the room at all.Given these issues, we asked if we could switch rooms. The hotel staff member Gilles informed us there were no other rooms available and when we asked what we could do he advised we could just cancel the reservation and suggested us to request a free cancellation through Booking, so we wouldn’t be charged for the night. Following his advice, we submitted the free cancellation request before 7:00 p.m. the day of our arrival and had to book on short notice another hotel. Our free cancelation request never got approved. We repeatedly tried to resolve this with the hotel, first by calling without being answered, then going back in person and later via email and phone but they continually claimed they had not received necessary emails from Booking and would not take responsibility. They later reported to Booking that we never showed up at the hotel at all, which was an outright lie.We feel completely deceived and mistreated by the hotel’s lack of transparency and failure to honor their own proposal of a free cancellation.

Right on the beach, and the staff is magnificent.The breakfast buffet is excellent.

There is nothing we did not like.

Top location, room simple but clean and tidy

Attitude of staff - asked for a spare blanket or sheet, ignored - was told Booking.com never gave them the message and there were more important things to do. Room was above the kitchen- too strong a kitchen smell

The closeness to the beach. the breakfast was perfect . the room was alright but a view of the beach would have been perfect.

If the check out time would have been an hour later.

The staff were wonderful especially if you eat dinner, and are served by their fantastic waiter. The location is superb and the breakfasts were also exceptional. You eat looking out at the sea, and really relax.

We went just before the official opening of the holiday season and so all hotels were being painted. We saw the scaffolding but weren't told that painters would be walking past our first-floor window at 7 am! My husband asked them to be quiet and they were but still... All in all the friendliness of the staff and the low key atmosphere made up for it, but it seemed that this kind of thing happened every year as all the hotels were freshening up.
