    Pros +

    • Pleasant staff, spacious rooms, hotel grounds.
    • Breakfast was good and had a large variety, but I felt we were on a cruise ship, as the presentation of the food was not that great. The facilities at the hotel were first rate; beautiful swimming pools, sauna and fitness facilities. The location from the room was incredible, as this hotel is in a quiet part of Norway overlooking a beautiful lake. Just incredible scenery everywhere you looked.
    • The location and breakfast and grounds were astounding. Really special. DELICIOUS breakfast. We ate dinner in the bar one night and it was delicious. The bartender was very knowledgeable about all the ciders.

    Cons -

    • Not enough parking.
    • The hotel itself is historical with a lot of interesting history. But in terms of amenities such as food and meal options I think they were pretty limited outside the morning and evening buffets. I cannot pinpoint it exactly but I just felt the hotel as a resort was missing something.
    • The rooms themselves were just okay. We actually stayed there two nights- my husband had booked the second night with a day in between when we were camping. On my husbands booking for some reason we ended up in a huge suite. For my initial booking, we were in a basic room. Both rooms had odd quirks- the housekeeping had left someone else’s yogurt and berries in the fridge, the shower in the suite got water EVERYWHERE, there was no body wash in the suite shower, the first room was quite warm, but honestly every hotel room in Norway was too warm for us. It’s a very large touristy hotel, and service was mostly good despite one gruffer front desk attendant.

The hotel is a bit outdated but has lots of character and is well-maintained. The rooms were a nice size, beds and bedding very comfortable, and rooms were cleaned daily. Breakfast was excellent. The best part for me was the heated pools and the jacuzzi, a great place to relax at the end of a long hiking day.

The most peaceful hotel I’ve ever seen. Very clean, with excellent food and beautiful views — it has all the comfort and amenities you could wish for.

    Beautiful location and great staff

This hotel has great potential, but needs love. It looked tired from both inside and out.

Location next to the fjords. Beautiful landscape with a pool and sauna (and you can jump in to the frigid water if you want). Nice buffet dinner ($70) and breakfast (included). I was lucky to find a parking space ($10) overnight.

Attentive Filipino waitress could not understand what a draft beer is. Caucasian staff walking around with head up high, paying no attention to guests. Dysfunctional.

    Facility, quiete, privacy

In Spa area , The drain hole was not cleaned and became clogged, causing the shower room to flood.

Amazing pools and sauna, can spend a whole day here with its facilities. Amazing location, superb breakfast. Only concern is that there is no central cooling and thick blankets, difficult to heat regulate and sleep well despite the comfortable beds.

    10LorrainePosted on: 8-16-2025

Location, spa facilities, high quality breakfast buffet, friendly staff.

Shower had somewhat weak water flow. Bathtub shower without grab bar might be a problem for some (slippery), no bath mat (used a medium towel). Shower soap, shampoo and conditioners were empty upon arrival and were not refilled during cleaning. I travel with my own so not big issue. Still, all the other plusses outweighed these minor issues by far.

Amazing and beautiful breakfast with fabulous views. One of the best hotels in Norway.Around the hotel many apples farmers .

    Nothing at all.

    7DuncanPosted on: 8-4-2025

Wonderful location. Nice to be able to swim in fjord or in pools. Reasonable facilities. Lots of hiking options nearby.

Rooms and facilities are a little tired in my view. Given the price I was expecting a higher standard. Indoor pool is too warm to exercise in. Rather annoying to pay extra for tennis and parking. I would expect these to be included. Hotel appeared to be understaffed.

    9KerenPosted on: 8-2-2025

Large variety of food both for dinner and breakfast. Desserts were especially good. Loved the different pools and the view was spectacular. Enjoyed the paddle boat.

Need better tennis rackets. Coffee was not hot enough.

    8RaggianoPosted on: 7-31-2025

    Fantastic location, breakfast buffet good.

The Hotel is old and you can tell. No room service and slow cleaning service.

    9ArkadiuszPosted on: 7-18-2025

Wide variety of dishes on breakfast and great quality. Swimming pool (and additional pool for children)

A view on mountains is not a view on the fjord.

    8ErnestoPosted on: 7-18-2025

The location is fantastic. Great staff. Food was excellent

It was very hot during our stay and there is no AC. Ran out of fans. In the adult only area of the spa/pool there were plenty of children and even crying babies

    10MatthewPosted on: 7-10-2025

Stunning setting and nice variety of amenities.

Rooms a bit outdated and some modern comforts lacking.

    7SusanPosted on: 7-9-2025

The view from the back of the hotel is absolutely stunning overlooking the fjord with a pool, sauna and relaxation area that allows you to feel like your af a spa getaway. Worth the stay to sit on balcony or along the water enjoying the view. There are some pretty hikes walkable from hotel with a cider tasting as a reward afterwards.

The food was average at best - worst of our two week trip. Part of the hotel the decor were tired and need updating and it’s obvious which areas have been renovated as they were lovely. Staff was not overly helpful when asking about hikes or information.

    9MohammedPosted on: 7-1-2025

A nice hotel with several facilities including indoor and outdoor swimming pools, sauna and tennis courts. It also has good view of the sea and surrounding mountains especially for the rooms located on the waterfront side. The rooms are clean with adequate accessories and the service by the staff is great. A buffet breakfast is served with excellent selections and variety of foods. Free car parking is available with electric charging stations provided (i.e. with a fee NOK 400 per charge). There is a quiet clean small town with few stores nearby.

The rooms on the street side were not as good due to occasional street noise and poor view.

    8KristiPosted on: 6-28-2025

The most beautiful views I have ever seen right in front of the hotel. Dining, swimming or jumping in the fjords all with these amazing views!!!

The hotel booking didn’t mention room views but we were placed in a road view verses a fjord view. Would have been nice to have a choice.
