    Pros +

    • It was unexpected. It was high class, rustic. We loved being away from it all, in a beautiful setting with delicious food. Everything exceeded our expectations.
    • Even though the breakfast is included in the rate, we didn't eat it as the options are only eggs and waffles. For the standard of the place the breakfast should be a lot better. There are several places around the area with cheap and great Costa Rican breakfast therefore the hotel should raise the bar
    • Main building was beautifully decorated and architecturally interesting

    Cons -

    • No, even the moment when we got stuck behind a caravan of cows leaving the dairy only added to its charm.
    • In general, the food is just average, The menu is limited and the quality can be a lot better. This definetly is the weakness of the lodge
    • Room did not look anything like picture: it was a cabin outside of the main building. Front desk person was distant and not terribly helpful on both days (same person). Breakfast and dinner menus were minimal with uninspiring offerings. Food was minimal but nicely prepared.

Stunning location with beautiful scenery. The lodge exceeded expectations with great food, very comfy lounge area and super room with own fire. Staff were helpful and attentive

    Nice view — cooler temperatures.

    Wifi weak in dining room.

A stunning place, beautiful, quiet, everything is surrounded by nature, the food is good, one of the rooms we booked exceeded our expectations, spacious, bright with a large courtyard

One of the rooms we booked was actually two tiny, very outdated, less comfortable rooms.

Beautifully appointed lodge. Nice location in the cloud forest. Friendly staff. Very clean.

Property is great. Only negative is the breakfast was mediocre.

    Rustic and quiet.

No Amenities, food and snacks lacking and customer service, dinner service with Javier was the highlight.

    10MartinPosted on: 4-18-2025

The fireplaces and the hiking trails

At breakfast the coffee can was empty most of the time

The ambiance was peaceful. There was no pressure of any kind. The communal spaces were peaceful and comfortable. The staff was truly amazing. Although we were not able to see Poas Volcano as the park was closed, spending a little more time at the lodge was an unexpected gift.

    Loved all.

Beautifully decorated Lodge and room. We loved the quietness of the area, with a beautiful garden and short walks in the cloud forests and dairy grasslands surrounding the lodge, perfect for bird watching.Tea and coffee available in the room.It is cooler and cloudy due to the altitude, but I believe it adds to charm of the lodge.

we love the property--the building, the room, and the beautiful land around, where one can hike.

more food options would be great.

Very interesting and attractive building.Great setting and garden.

At 1900m elevation, it's a bit cold, and the lodge apparently has no heating apart from some small wood-burning stoves in the public rooms (not lit in the daytime) , and there was a single fan heater in our room. We were chilly on a wet and windy day in March.

Great tours to go on with a guide! The coffee plantation was especially well done. Beautiful landscape, lovely beds, and good food in their restaurant. Would go back!

    7JenniferPosted on: 3-16-2025

Lovely breakfast and common areas were really cosy and well equipped. The pool table was fun and the walking trails were very pretty, real shame about the room as the rest was lovely and staff were kind.

Lodge room was quite mouldy and very dated, was very expensive for not such a good quality room.. Worst room we stayed in CR for sure but more expensive. Gross bath mat in the shower with hairs and scum build up embedded, didn't feel clean.

    9RobPosted on: 3-1-2025

Amazing views and architectural features of property. Walking trails and pleasant communal areas. We enjoyed the food in the restaurant and we were happy we booked for dinner.

Limited amount of heating made the whole building a bit chilly.

    8SandraPosted on: 2-19-2025

A great lodge in a beautiful location. We were in a garden room which was a bit old and dark but there were no lodge rooms free. The evening meal was excellent - great food and a lovely atmosphere. Breakfast was ok. The trails providing a good walk.

A lodge room would have been better I think as they look brighter and more modern. Breakfast service was a little slow.

Lovely lodge, grounds, trails. Excellent dinner and breakfast.
