Abrazo Sofia Hotel by HMG

The breakfast is really bad. Exactly the same things for two consecutive days, and cold. The hot water pressure is low during the morning and evening when a lot of people are using it. The carpet is dirty. In the description, there is free access to the spa, but the staff won't introduce this to you during check-in. The hotel definitely doesn't meet the standard of 4-star hotel. It is more like between a 2-star and a 3-star hotel

We requested for bathroom robe for sauna and it wasn’t provided. By the way, the sauna isn’t working and that wasn’t a good experience as we were freezing in the sauna room and it wasn’t working.

The room was spotless, the rain shower was a delight ?, the breakfast plentiful and the staff was very kind and attentive. While the area is a bit empty at night, it was very cold (-6 Celsius) so it's understandable and even better because it's far away from the noise of the touristic areas, yet within walking distance.

Maybe having a one-seater couch would be nice to have in the room, but other than that I can't think kf anything I didn't like.

Comfy bed and great breakfast.

It’s quite a bid farther than I would have liked. About 20 mins walk to the main square.

The staff was very friendly and helpfull, we enjoyed very much the bath in the room, the sauna, even at a very late hour we could use it. The breakfast was very tasty. At the last night when we had to checkout early st 3 a clock, the staff prepaired us 2 bags with sandwiches, fruit and water

At the sauna are missed chairs for sitting and resting. In the bathroom is not enough place for personal articels, its a bigger shelve needed. St the breakfast the warm food was not warm, because there are no heating plates under the food.

Breakfast selection was good, the staff were amazing and the room was super comfy (the photos reflect the style well). Great location as well, it's within walking distance from a metro station and a tram stop is right outside the hotel entrance.

The hotel was unreasonably hot, the main reception had to be a minimum of 26C, it was really unpleasant, wouldn’t be that big of a deal, but this also translated to the room, no big deal, use the air conditioning - it won’t work, call the main desk, apparently the AC is locked because it was winter. When I pay for a hotel room with air conditioning, I should be able to use it to put the room to a comfortable temperature, the fact the main desk couldn’t change this was extremely disappointing, and it meant that the stay was uncomfortable, which was a shame as otherwise it would’ve been a solid stay.

The room was not the cleanest. There were hairs on the bedsheet. The wall near the bed had greasy marks from fun nights…

Could have been a little more flexible with the early check-in, however did propose other options to accommodate us.

The location, while central, is borderline with the not-so-nice part of town. The area is a bit sketchy, especially at night.The exterior architecture of the building is modern and interesting, but some of the interior layouts (there’s a room on each floor which entrance door is in the egress stair) are questionable. Breakfast was nice, room size was decent.

Design. Room design was pretty but completely dysfunctional. There is a desk but no proper chair to use the desk, only an ottoman which is way too low for comfortable use of the work surface. The bathroom has a couple of hooks and the tiniest shelf ever - sufficient only for the small shampoo bottles. No towel bars. Freestanding sink with no vanity surface, so basically no space for toiletries. I had to keep my personal toiletries in the closet outside the bathroom.Towels. You get one hand towel and one what they consider a bath towel but it’s the size of a larger hand towel. That’s it. Upkeep. Missing makeup mirror but the broken mounting bracket is still there. Shower glass gasket was out and very obviously hanging from the ceiling, nobody bothered to fix it during my 3-day stay. Comfort. There is an in-room thermostat, which I assumed controlled the room temperature. After a day of trying to get the room temperature below 26C, I spoke to the front desk and the answer was “oh, no, the thermostats are not connected to the room A/C (!), the temperature is controlled centrally and on hot days it’s difficult to cool the rooms. It gets cooler at night”. Definitely a unique approach! I must have a completely unrealistic expectation that the air conditioning is meant to cool rooms on hot days. Noise. My room was facing the main street. While the windows appear to be pretty solid, the noice from the traffic and the city tram is very loud. Get a backyard facing room. Cleanliness. While the other issues were more “structural”, they could easily improve on cleanliness. From finding stains and hair in the folded towels, to stains on the bed sheets, to multiple stains on the carpet, to what appeared to be mold on the calking of the shower edges, I didn’t feel the cleanliness was where it was supposed to be.

The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable, and the central location made exploring Sofia easy. Breakfast was delicious, and the overall experience was wonderful. Highly recommended!

Location - it was in a great location, walkable to everything and to the center of town. If you don't want to walk, there's literally a bus stop right in front of the hotel and it's 10-15 minutes to the city centerParking - can't stress how great it was to have parking. Granted it's only 3 parking spots below the hotel, but for around $12/night, definitely not bad with it being underground, temperature controlled, and right in the buildingBreakfast - for breakfast that was included for us, the food was great. I know others have reviewed that the food was cold, but we didn't have an issue with that. They have a wide selection that included scrambled and fried eggs, bacon/country ham, hash browns, sausages, and assortment of bread and pastriesLunch/dinner - they don't have anything other than breakfast, but we found a Lebanese place that was 4 mins walk away and it was incredibleRoom - we got a room with a patio and bathtub right in the room. It was convenient and we took advantage of the tub being right in the room. The bed was comfortable and everything was clean

The staff were genuinely kind and helpful, always ready with a smile or advice on where to go. The room felt modern and cozy, with a super comfortable bed!Breakfast was fresh and more than enough to start the day, and having secure underground parking was a big plus

Very clean and comfortable room, very close to the train station, good breakfast, all that is needed in the room (towels, soap, snacks and drinks with a price list), free water.

I stayed at Abrazo Sofia Hotel for three nights while on a business trip. The hotel was modern, clean, and quiet, with excellent Wi-Fi and a good-sized desk in the room. The breakfast was fresh. Staff spoke good English and were efficient with check-in and check-out.

My only suggestion would be to add more international news channels to the TV, but that’s a small thing. I’d gladly stay again
