About
Hotel Hotel Gold is located in a municipal park on the banks of the Vltava river, close to the historical center of Český Krumlov. It houses a restaurant offering views of the town and a summer outdoor terrace overlooking the river and the park. The history of the hotel goes back to the 16th century, when the building was a Jesuit summer residence. Directly above the hotel, on the opposite bank of the Vltava, stands the church of St. Vitus. You will find peace and quiet as well as comfort with a touch of romance and luxury in one of 26 rooms. Each of the rooms is different and has its own distinctive atmosphere. Pros +
- Unlike many hotels that we saw in Cesky Krumlov, Hotel Gold had good parking right at the hotel. Further, you don't have to drive through the busy pedestrian filled, narrow streets to get in and out. We would go back!
- The reception lady Anna is super friendly, although the hotel is not the new style type of furnish, but everywhere is clean and well maintained. Great location,
- great location and service
Cons -
- We had one of the Royal Suites which to be blunt, seems a bit shabby but maybe we just don't go for that type of decor. Breakfast buffet was pretty weak.
- room was great and excellent breakfast
- So many things were NOT OKAY, during all 7 nights of our stay!• Hygiene/CleanlinessLet's start with the fact that the room was FILTHY!! From day 1 we entered the room, there was dust, spider nets, dead insects on every corner and lower surfaces. We even found a pair of socks from the previous guests next to the bed. The toilet was only superficially wiped, but you could see that there were different colors of dirt under the seat ?. Not to mention the shower. The drain was probably NEVER cleaned since the amount of hair, residues and God knows what else was disgusting to say the least (images below). For the record both me and my man have short shaved hair. That was all on day 1! Our bedsheets were NEVER changed during the 7 nights, the cleaning lady vacuumed 1 time AFTER WE ASKED HER TO ! The "daily cleaning service" included change of towels, a new toilet paper, and making the beds. And that was it. Nothing else. No vacuuming, no toilet cleaning (you could literally see the soap and water stains accumulating through the days in the shower). As we were traveling with our dog, it is natural that we had an increased load of dog hair on the floor (carpet floor). On day four (!) after we had to ask the cleaning lady to vacuum, she did only the main room, of course ignoring all the rest of the dust and dirt that the room had. She literally just vacuumed, brought towels and toilet paper.• Room equipment/ conditionThe room had a private Sauna (about the cleanliness of the sauna, refer to the images below. It was also not really taken care of), some okay-ish baroque furniture, a completely empty mini bar and an new Smart TV. Besides the TV, everything else was either dirty, or old and not in a good condition. The furniture had cracks and every wall was dirty or scratched. There were two glasses in the room (of course, never changed throughout the 7 nights), placed on a dirty plate and that's all from room equipment.

We had to think long and hard to find something positive, and the only thing we found was the location of the hotel.

It was great that both dinner and breakfast were included in the stay. The personnel were very friendly, and the hotel was clean and warm.
I would have appreciated a better variety at dinner. The food options weren’t very tasty, more like canteen level. The room barely had a window, which made it feel quite dark. Additionally, the bathroom had a very low ceiling, which was uncomfortable for me as a tall person.
Close to City center, around 7 minutes walk, comfortable beds, clean room, Breakfast and dinner included, medium to good quality of the food.
Private parking but not Free, it costs10 euros/night, for a better experience, it could be included in the room price. I did not like the coffee at Breakfast and the deserts were poor. The bathroom had two problems, one was the sink cannot drain the water, and the toilet is losing water from the reservoir. Maybe could use a bit of maintanance.
The only good thing was the location of the hotel and the possibility of parking.
It absolutely does not correspond to a four-star hotel. The bathroom had mold, the carpet was not polished. There was someone's hair in the bathroom. The room was not clean. This is not the style of the hotel at all. The breakfast was a disaster. There were only 2 jams. Three portions of cheap salami and a dry ham, but full of cheap processed cheese.
The hotel is located very close to the centre which was good.
Our room was located on the ground floor, in front of the hotel's toilets- poor air quality, so smelly and depressing. There was no TV in our room, and when we asked, they said the TV was broken! Although they said they could find us one if we wanted! We asked a couple of times if they could give us another room, but they said they were fully booked. However, we checked the Booking.com website and according to the website, other rooms were available. The staff didn't know much English, but that wasn't a huge problem. Their Breakfast was very simple, not very good for a 4 star hotel. The chairs in the restaurant were not clean.
Good location in quiet area
No Aircon so rather hot. No room safe.Quite expensive for facilities afforded
Breakfast is not great, but it didn’t ruin the overall experience. Dinner included, which was fantastic. Absolutely beautiful scenery from the bedroom windows. Pity TV didn’t work..
Breakfast needs more selections
Hotel location
There is no elevator to go up to the rooms, no lights on in the corridors because it is an automatic lighting system, making the whole floor of the corridor very dark, especially the 3rd floor. If there are no customers, it will be even more frightening. Women who come alone are not recommended, seem insecure.
Quiet place at a superb location, very nice room, friendly stuff.
The bathtube could have been broader it was hard to get in and out.
it is a 400 years old building impressive to see9
Terrible mattress so we had a bad sleepno lift we had to use stairs to 3rd floorthe nice lady in the restaurant did her best but spoke no english at all, i speak 5 languages but she only spoke czech. We mamaged by sign language but she was friendly.
The sauna in the room
The sauna door in room 310 can't be fully closed so the sauna is cold
Central location, charming buildings and staff
Old and outdated interior in room. Very grandma-like.
The sauna in the room is everything! So good and relaxing. Easy to use and heats up pretty fast. The open window is allowed in fresh air, river rumbling, bird songs and church bells in the morning at 7am - I found that very calming. The room was large with a fridge and safe.
No kettle in the room and none at reception. The breakfast was not too indulging for 4* but everything that they had was fresh and tasty.
We stay every year on the way back from a road trip. Ideal and safe parking for motorbikes. Worth paying the extra for rooms with aircon.
Breakfast is always a bit poor as items are not refreshed u lesa you specifically ask and the hot food is gone when it's gone.
Nice location in the city center and next to the park. The hotel has its own parking lot. The breakfast is very good.
The best location in Cesky Krumlov. Really good breakfast, friendly staff.
Cobwebs on the chandelier and on the window.
Cozy small hotel in a calm part of the city. Easily accessible to all main sights. The staff was friendly and smiley.
The main thing that was badly impacting our stay was the lack of cleanliness. The facilities are fairly old, some furniture is torn, and used but that would be okay if they were at least clean. Upon our arrival we found a lot of hair around the bathroom and bathtub. One of the towels was also ripped and had holes in it, the same was with one of the bed sheets. Furthermore, the sheets were stained with black and yellow marks. One of the sheets was also too short for the bed thus it wasn’t covering the mattress fully. It was clear that the spots were there not because the sheets weren’t washed but because they were old and these spots were simply not washable anymore. Nevertheless, such sheets should be thrown out in a hotel setting. Right after our arrival we notified the receptionist about it to have them switched. But after returning to the room in the evening we found one of the pillow cases to still be the previous one with stains all over it. In general, the hotel was a bit dusty with spider webs in corners. The breakfast was okay but rather simple. For a few nights stay the variety was fine, but not for longer ones. Vegetarians have some selection of food, but definitely not suitable for vegans.
