Hotel Am Dom

This property is right in the heart of historical downtown Bamberg. A no frills hotel but clean, extremely comfortable and perfect for a night or two. No restaurant or bar on premises. No coffee either but there is a café just a few steps from the hotel. Great value if you are looking for a no frills stay.

We battled with parking initially but we have a big car but managed to find one when another vehicle left later on

Location can't be more central, awesome ? Clean, cosy, styled with love and pragmatism - good choice for staying close to the (just few) attractions, if you have no time or don't want to walk.

The beds are comfortable and the room is clean. The shower has plenty of hot water.The location in the city is good, being central and close to many restaurants, stores, and sights.

The description says there is parking, but does not mention that it costs 25EUR a night -- a significant part of the price.The WLAN isn't stable, or it's internet connection isn't.There is no reception. You must go across the street to a restaurant, and ask a random serving person to check-in.The door is a bit loose in its frame and rattles whenever somebody enters or leaves the main building.Toiletries consist of a near empty bottle of shower gel.The electronic lucks are bad, taking a few tries to open.

Good location. Clean.

No lift. No one to help. I had to carry my bag to the first floor and there are lots of stairs. It was all right for me but not advisable for people with any health issues who are unable to carry heavy luggage bags over many many stairs.

Close to Christmas market. Parking on sit. Large room with great shower

The apparent manager, Marco, was working out of a restaurant across the street where check in was conducted and key provided. When no one was at the hotel I called the property directly for direction but the message was in German only. I did not see additional instructions on their website. Fortunately a young worker came by and pointed us to the restaurant. I did try messaging the property directly early in the morning before arrival but there was no response. Clearly, communication could be improved

LocationApartment was spacious

Poor service to get checked in - took 1 hr 20 mins! Got there before 3pm for afternoon break but no one there, then referred to their nearby restaurant by housekeeping, who put us off repeatedly, despite going for a walk to give them time.And then we could not find the wifi password and were then told the wrong one, until owner corrected it (almost).So beware!

We were right in the heart of many of the sights in Bamberg. We were 100m from the Bamberger Dom for example. We had a nice large room. Very quiet!Easy to find

It would be nice if you could reserve a car park space at the time of booking. This is not a deal breaker though, since there is a great parking garage a pleasant 5 minute walk away.

The location where the hotel is located is a very good location. The room was beautiful and the restaurant employee very friendly.

The only problem was the situation in which we found the hotel room. there was still poo residue in the toilet (only on one side, not much, but this shows that the toilet was not cleaned before we entered the room. I found 3 long hairs on the pillow, we were 2 men so it was definitely not ours. I understand that hairs can remain after washing, but 3 hairs directly on the pillow is not okay.

Central location

Not the hotels fault, but the street was noisy at night. I think, we were close to a dance club.

Location, it is right in the middle of old town and to get a hotel with off street parking is such a bonus as we were travelling our bikes and we couldn't leave them in the car in the street. The parking is tight but we got our Peugeot 5008 in and out ok, but it is tight. The location makes it a winner.

Was not obvious the the reception was in the restaurant across the road, but they were very helpful.Wifi wouldn't play.

The location is great. It is right in the heart of the action and has a great atmosphere around it. With that comes the associated noise level. The room itself was clean and a decent size. The bed was also very comfortable.

Even though the room was a decent size, there was no space to open our suitcase that didn't restrict movement around the bed. In my opinion, there is too much non-essential furniture in the room (more wardrobe space than most other hotels I've stayed in, 3 chairs and a long desk.It made the room feel small and difficult to get around if you have a big suitcase.

The town of Bamberg is beautiful and this hotel is right in the centre of the old town. The room was fine and had everything we needed

The parking is a bit of an issue in the old town. Get there early

The hotel location is great, near the Dom and the very center of the old town!

To begin with, the hotel reception is not placed at the very building of the hotel rooms but across the street in a very busy restaurant. If you have a problem with your room, then you have to get out of the hotel building and try to find the person that you need inside a busy restaurant. On the very first night there, on the early morning, there was some sort of power failure, we had no lights or internet or hot water for the entire second day and night! It was only on the third day that the internet wifi signal (which was very weak most of the time) was back again.Only then it was possible to get a hot shower again... As we complained, in the morning of the second day, about the above issues, we were then given very loose statements about "a problem they were trying to fix", without any assurances about when we would get services back to normal! Also, except for the personnel in charge of the room cleaning, the others never showed much concern with our situation and needs. Finally, the morning breakfast is overpriced, if compared to alternatives one finds closer by... There is no lift to the upper floors, but steep stairs!

Parking situation is bad, Cleaning Lady went inside the room without permission, No Wifi on 2nd floor, No privacy in the Bathroom, windows visible from house accross the street and no way of blocking the view while using the shower or toilet, no SC so super Hot. No staff in the lounge at all.

Central and perfect for exploring! Apartment was spacious and comfortable.

We found a old plaster in the bed, the glases wasn’t clean.

Its location in the historical center of Bamberg is such a big asset that the hotel obviously feels that is quite enough to attract custom. Given all the other disappointments, we were pleasantly surprised by the quality and variety of breakfast.

Directions: the place is fiendishly difficult to find by car.Reception: we obviously were about as welcome as a hailstorm at a garden party.Bedding: mattresses and especially pillows reflect the history of the surroundings.

The location was near to the stadium Munich Arena, perfect for our game with Ucraine.
