Pros +
- The location was very good and the room was clean.
- Everything was clean and comfortable. The room is just across the train station. Breakfast was very good as well.
- There aren't a lot of choices in Tirano, and this seems like a reasonably nice choice (but see below). It's fairly new, has AC, and included a self-serve breakfast downstairs.
Cons -
- The low rating is mainly due to the receptionist, a female staff member who was not supportive at all. I travel all over the Europe and whenever I ask a hotel to help me book a taxi, they usually assist without any problem. In this case, the receptionist did not help me, even after I explained that I couldn’t make a call because I didn’t have an Italian phone number.Additionally, the heating in the room could not be adjusted and during the night it was extremely cold. On the second day, despite having used the shampos, housekeeping did not replace basic amenities, which is unacceptable for a hotel that is not cheap.
- Hot water in shower does not last long.
- I stayed here last year and this year. We didn't have issues last year, but this year there was a city-hosted "free concert" right outside my window that continued past 11pm, despite there supposedly being a noise ordinance that started at 10pm. What were they thinking? There were people in hotels all around the square (myself included) that had to catch the Bernina Express at 8am, and generally speaking, I thought the whole economy here revolves around the Bernina Express. I called the hotel and they were unwilling or unable to do anything, stating repeatedly it was a city-hosted event. Never again.

Breakfast was awesome. Attendant was very helpful. Nice to have a personal escort to the room. Fan in the room was useful, a nice touch though not required.
Close to train station and places to eat
Building smelled damp upon entering the hall way. Contrary to the advertisement, there is NO A/C. There was a fan in the closet ( first clue that you know that they know it gets warm in there). Was told to open the windows( no screens) and since were near the train station all you hear is train noise.
The room was really comfortable with a huge bathroom with walk in shower
Once we had been told that the check in was at the Hotel Bernina, everything was fine
Perfect location, clean and tidy.Could not get air con to work and room was very warm.
Air conditioning didn’t appear to work
No breakfast, got up too late.Room was excellent, although blind in toilet was broken and people outside could see you on the toilet! Managed to half close it but was still a slight concern.
Nothing was bad, all good.
Nice room, we had room no 3. Some humidity damages in the bath, overall good. The room service was very kind and service oriented, thanks to the Portuguese speaking woman.
Check-out time not comfortable with bernina express departure time. Gap of 4.5 hours!
Really nice location, exactly next to the railway.
The check in place and hotel are in different locations (not far though).
Location of our room was perfect for us, 3 mins walk from the platform where the Bernini express arrived/left. Also in town.
Breakfast was downstairs and average.
Room was clean and very nice.
Google maps will show you where the hotel is located but there is no office or staff at that location. We had to ask at 3 different locations where the office for the hotel was. It was a block away in a different hotel. We checked in at that location and then the woman behind the desk walked us the one block to the hotel to show us our room. We are carrying all of our luggage and she is moving at a speed difficult for us to keep up. Seems like it would have been thoughtful to walk with us rather than many yards in front of us. We observed this same approach with others who were escorted to the hotel later after we were in our room. There should be a clear explanation on the hotel reservation on where to go and how to check in for this hotel. We had a ground floor room with large windows facing south. The temperature the day we arrived was 79 degrees F and the room was very hot. The hotel was advertised as having air conditioning but when we tried to cool the room nothing happened so we called the front desk and were told that the air conditioning wasn't turned on because it wasn't "technically" summer yet. We were told to open the windows to cool the room. There was only one operable window that didn't allow any significant air flow and we were also on the ground floor which made us reluctant to leave an open window overnight.
Very nice breakfast. Plenty of variety. The most comfortable bed I’ve slept in for a long time.Room was very quiet despite being so close to the train station.
Check in was confusing, as you have to go across the piazza to the Hotel Bernina reception. The breakfast room is underground with no windows.
Location very convenient for taking the train, but still quiet at night.
Ground floor rooms don‘t have the view of the mountains.
the hotel was in the perfect spot for your stay... the room was clean and the breakfast was really good!
Cleanliness, modern facilities, location
The location was perfect, considering our trip on the Bernina Express (you can't get any closer). A friendly gentleman from the reception of Hotel Bernina took us to the place and showed us our room. We would probably have difficulty finding it ourselves (google maps showed a nearby pizzeria with a similar name). It was lovely to sit on the terrace in the evening and watch the trains and then the storm. The room was quiet despite being close to the train station. Breakfast downstairs was ok.
Very close to the station, a short walk to the city - perfect for coming and/or leaving by train. The room was big, the bathroom too. I had a small balcony. Breakfast was good. I would have liked to stay longer.
Location is excellent, so you just wake up and hop on the bernina express! Very clean and comfortable!
Be sure to read the instructions about how to check in (via the nearby hotel).
Very good
The distance between the room and the reception. different building, approx 500m away. Bad when raining hard....
