About
Located on the banks of the Salzach River, in the center of Salzburg, the Hotel Stein has a history dating back to medieval times and was fully renovated and reopened in the spring of 2018. The lifestyle and design hotel offers guests a panoramic rooftop terrace with views over the rooftops and the surroundings. Rooms at the Hotel Stein show a mixture of modern and classical style, with Austrian and Venetian influences. The luxurious rooms all have air conditioning, a unique furnishing and handcrafted glass decorations or lamps. The bathrooms are equipped with natural beauty products made from herbal ingredients in pharmacy quality. The restaurant Steinterrasse is located on the 7th floor and offers a view of the old town of Salzburg. Guests can enjoy a breakfast, brunch or fine dining on the rooftop terrace, and enjoy exquisite drinks and dishes. Hotel Stein's own spa area can be used against a surcharge and features a relaxation area, sauna and gym. Guides are provided in the rooms with running, hiking and Nordic walking routes. Only 230 feet from the property, the well known Linzergasse starts, where a variety of shops can be found. Cultural landmarks like Mozart's Birthplace, Salzburg Cathedral, the Mirabell Garden and Hohensalzburg Fortress are all within short walking distance to Hotel Stein.

Perfect location looking at old town Salzburg you are right at the bridge walk 100 feet…as well as being right on the corner of shops and restaurants. Adults only too!
The location is amazing at the tip of the old town facing the new only a bridge with few steps away. The staff were helpful Christopher and Alexander at the front desk.
Spacious. Clean. Nicely furnished. Great location.
Could hear base music from bar. Only a problem if we had an early night.
Stayed in Honeymoon suite on 2nd floor. Suite is great. Looks exactly like it does in the photos on website for this suite. Lots of space and views from about 4 windows that can open to the river, the churches, shopping area and Salzburg Fortress.
When we arrive, staff seemed a little confused on checking us in. Could have been more helpful explaining that it is ok to parking the spot in front of hotel and offload bags. Had to ask a lot of questions from staff to understand how the check in worked.
Close to everything! Hotel had an amazing staff and they were so helpful! From arranging reservations to planning massages and answering travel questions.
Location close to old town. Good bathroom, good shower. Bed comfortable. Room passable. Dinner was good and rooftop views amazing.
Very noisy as our bedroom looked over a side alley. I was expecting an opulent hotel but what I got was any old hotel in any city across the world. The light switch display is awful. The panels glowed all night, very off putting trying to sleep. I suppose you’ve heard of switches? On/off voila! Too much tech that is totally unnecessary. Couldn’t even get the air con unit to work either. Buffet breakfast. €36.80 per person, trust me it wasn’t that great, that is complete extortion.
Best part of the room is the amazing bathroom . Furniture in the room felt a little like IKEA . Front desk is very nice . Can’t beat the location
Beautiful property in excellent location. Walking distance to everything we wanted to see. Staff was warm, welcoming, friendly and helpful.
Absolutely nothing, it was a perfect stay.
The location was fantastic
The rooms were quite small, and for the rates paid, I had hoped for a better view at a higher floor.
Location is the best you could get. Good size room. Staff was friendly
This is nitpicking, but it was slightly noisy outside
The location is great, right across from the old town by the Salzach river. The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooftop bar is nice and has a great view of the old town.
Rave reviews! Staff was friendly, room was clean, view from our room was fabulous and the location can't be beat. Thanks for the great experience! Would definitely stay again!

Location, front desk staff, view, room size.
Some of the staff at the rooftop bar and breakfast location were rude.
Great location and the rooftop bar had great views of the city.
My view from the room was another building, I guess you need to upgrade for a view room.
