What a fantastic hotel! This place is an absolute joy. From the moment we stepped in, you can feel how the owners have put their hearts and souls into every detail — the decoration, the amenities, everything. Dinner was delicious, and breakfast was wonderful too. It truly feels like staying in the beautiful country home of friends in the German countryside. We were so happy there and can’t wait to come back!

The Hosts were amazing and staff cleaned our room daily providing fresh linen and towels.

Everything about this place was exceptional with a very special mention for the hosts!I cannot give them a high enough recommendation and have never had the pleasure of a more warm and welcoming experience anywhere in the world and I have been quite fortunate to have traveled a great deal in my 64 years.The accommodations were top notch, our meals well beyond delicious and the restaurant spaces could not have been more comfortable, including a beautiful view from outdoor dining deck of the Black Forest's fields and mountains.The way the public spaces and rooms were appointed showed a great flair for design and good taste.

Can't think of a thing I didn't like

Splendid location, food, and hospitality from the hosts. We would like to point out that Astrid and her husband gave my family and I a very warm welcome, and took really good care of us during our stay. The rooms were also very clean and tidy.

The house is really welcoming and comfortable. Breakfast was superb and the people that run the hotel are super friendly. Also, I'd recommend the restaurant they open for dinner as everything we tried was very tasty and fresh

It was very charming. We felt like we were staying in someone‘s home. Nice personal touches and decor. Great location, parking, and views. The breakfast option was a nice addition if you enjoy relaxing over coffee or tea.

The property is in an idyllic location, and decorated beautifully with thoughtful touches for the guests to enjoy.We had both dinner and breakfast at the restaurant and everything was delicious. Try the garlic bread!The hosts are wonderful. I'd highly recommend staying at Engel 16, you won't be disappointed!

This property is so much more than the pictures show. Beautifully decorated so it feels like a very high end accommodation but also done so it feels very comfortable and welcoming. The food was fantastic. We ate breakfast and dinner for two nights here. The local trout with potatoes and salad then steak on night 2. Both were at the top of our list for our best meals of our 8 day trip. Perhaps the best thing about this place were the hosts. We were fortunate to catch them on a slow weekend and thoroughly enjoyed visiting them. “Above and beyond” doesn’t even sum up their helpfulness. If we or anyone we know will be visiting in the future we will definitely insist a stay at Engel 16.

Very cosy place. We were welcomed with a free glass of wine. We had dinner on the property which was very good and fresh. We didn’t have breakfast there because we needed to leave early, but it looked very good. The kind owners offered us coffee either way.

Bathroom quite small and tight. Right on a busy road with sounds of trucks and traffic.

The atmosphere is warm, the staff is friendly, and the view is beautiful.

The location for those traveling by public transportation is 45 minutes by foot from the nearest train station, and I've only seen the bus pass by once during my trips to and from the station. I highly recommend this place if you have a car.

Super good, in this hotel you feel at home but with views of the black forest and in a warm typical mountain home. The owners are super attentive to everything you need.

Our stay at this hotel was excellent. The hosts were extremely friendly and helpful, providing valuable tips for exploring the surrounding area. The hotel was exceptionally clean, and the beds were very comfortable. The hotel's central location made it convenient for sightseeing and starting hikes. The breakfast was truly outstanding, couldn't have wished for a better start to the day.

The only drawback was the noise from the busy road in front of the hotel, which could be heard in front-facing rooms.

The owner is super nice, she accomodated the fact that I was on a hike and welcomed me very warmly. There is a great lounge and terrasse that you can use. The rooms are very well decorated with a lot of taste. The bed is super confortable.

The hotel is next to the road so at night if you leave the window open you hear the traffic.

Lovely place with such a welcoming vibe. It is very clean, the beds are comfortable and the owners go out of their way to make you feel at home and help you finding activities or restaurants in the area that fit your wishes (or dietary restrictions). Me and my partner have been travelling through Germany, specifically the Black Forest area, and this is by far the best hotel we've been to.
