- The location was perfect! We stayed in the annex apartment not the main hotel, and it was beautiful. Plenty of space.
- Highly recommend. The properties decor was very charming and romantic. Great location next to bridge, old city and castle. Corner room and bathroom on second floor was spacious, clean and had a good view. Breakfast, not included in price, was very good. Dinner in the interior court yard was our favorite, excellent food and atmosphere. The staff was friendly, helpful, and professional.
- The location was closer than I thought. Right next to the bridge in oldtown. The rooms were so comfortable and cozy. We were in Junior Suite 2 that overlooked the castle on the hill. Amazing view! Breakfast was delicious! We will be back in the Summer time hopefully :). Wonderful stay.
Cons -
- Breakfast not included.
- nothing was bad at all.
- Pretty much everything about the hotel was perfect, aside from the shower. The shower functioned great (maybe a little too well, as the water pressure was crazy high), but the handle for adjusting the heat was a little too easy to bump into, and gave little resistance, so while showering it was very easy to accidentally bump the temp to super hot, or super cold. There was also a not insignificant amount of dust on the tops of the window and door frames, but nothing too terrible. The wi-fi was decent, but there were moments where it would drop or slow way down.

The location was absolutely gorgeous, being right next to the bridge, and it was convenient too. There were multiple Christmas markets within walking distance, and many restaurants. Our room was clean, comfortable, and had plenty of windows for natural light. They also let me order a much needed travel accessory to the hotel (it was very small), and accepted the package for me, which was very, very nice of them. The beds were very nice, and had plenty of pillows to choose from.

Great location, room had plenty of space, very friendly staff. An enjoyable experience.
No river view
A very nice, friendly reception upon arrival. The hotel itself is in a delightful location.
We were housed in the hotel annex. I was aware at booking that we would be in the annex but assumed that was attached to the hotel and would be in the same location. This annex is three blocks away and was essentially an apartment in a block of flats. Most of the other apartments were occupied by permanent residents who eyed us somewhat suspiciously. It was more like an AirBNB and was in no way like a hotel experience. This should be made clearer to someone considering booking these rooms. I specifically booked here because I wanted a quaint, small, German hotel experience. We got nothing like that. We were given a key and told to head to a building three blocks away and figure out how to get through the security door, outer door, and room door. Somewhat disappointing.
We received very warm welcome and introduction to the city as soon as we arrived! The room was very clean and well appointed. The location was perfect for exploring the castle and old town. We wish we had more time to spend here and will absolutely return to Hotel Zur Alten Brücke.
Great location! Castle and bridge could be seen from our room (junior suite 1)
Be sure to check which room you have chosen if you need an elevator as the apartment and other rooms in the annex building are stairs only
We stayed for two nights at the Hotel Zur Alten Brücke in Heidelberg and our experience was top-notch—we give it a 1000%! First off, the facilities were exactly what we needed. The room was easy to enjoy, and the bed was so comfortable that we immediately felt rested and ready for our days of exploring. The Wi-Fi connection was stable and fast, which was great for planning our itinerary. The housekeeping staff were efficient and kept our room immaculate throughout our stay. The customer service truly blew us away. The staff were all super good and friendly, making every interaction pleasant. But it was the little details that we absolutely loved—especially at breakfast! Our names were displayed on a small blackboard on our table every morning, making us feel so welcomed and special. We also had the pleasure of meeting the Owners! The wife was incredibly warm and chatty, and the husband was right there helping with the cashier. Seeing the family actively involved in the day-to-day operation adds such a genuine, human touch to the stay. All of this combined—the comfortable room, the excellent service, and the personal attention—made our stay a perfect ten. We are definitely ready to come back!
Clean, nice furniture and accessories in room, centrally located
Window in room did not vent to outside but rather a hallway but a fan in room provided sufficient air flow
Location, ambience, comfort.
Liked it all. We even navigated dropping off the suitcases in a pedestrian filled area.
Great location. Close to the square for shopping and restaurants, short walk to take cable car to castle, or walk across the bridge to Philosophers Way, surrounded by Old Town cafes, churches, everything! Comfortable beds. Quiet, even with small restaurant patio below (not the large patio outside of hotel). Junior suite had a lot of space with 2 chairs/ottoman.
Being close to the old town. Ample breakfast.
Didn't appreciate that the room was quite a long way from the hotel and was in a relatively modern building modern but with no lift. Inadequate directions were given regarding the location of a parking space with the result that by the time we had found the parking, and walked back to the hotel we were tokld the kitchen had just closed. Didn't like having to dress up warm and walk some 200 metres to get to breakfast.
Fantastic location, as it’s right by the old bridge, and very nicely decorated interiors
The bathroom and some details need to be updated to justify the rate and the overall level of the provided service.
Everything was perfect. We loved the location, room, breackfast etc.
It was the best accommodation on this trip. I felt a detailed touch and kindness in the accommodation run by grandfather himself. It was the best. The breakfast restaurant was so beautiful. a neat and beautiful place. Kindness. Breakfast is highly recommended. I hope it stays here for a long time.
The hotel’s location is probably the best part of it, you’re right by the old bridge in the middle of old town Heidelberg. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was tasty, nice selection of bread and müsli.
The room we stayed in was very noisy. We could hear everytime one of our neighbor guests flushed the toilet, and people coming in and out of the elevator, or walking up and down the hallway.
Breakfast was excellent.Room was large and quiet Location could not get any better.Maybe to improve on service would be to help guests with restaurant referrals, as we waisted time sorting out the good ones.
Location excellent - right beside the Old Bridge and on edge of pedestrian centre of old town. Very quiet, lovely big room and bed, nice clean bathroom. We also dined in the restaurant which was excellent.
Everything was just perfect. Location was fabulous. Room cosy and comfortable. Breakfast yummy!
The only thing I could add to make our stay even more perfect would be to have tea/coffee facilities in the room. I’d a small kettle or coffee pod machine
