Pros +
- The hotel owner runs a restaurant downstairs and he is very patient and friendly. The hotel is close to bus stops and Tram stations. The neighborhood is peaceful and safe.
- The building and restaurant/biergarten downstairs from the room are nice
- Beautiful and clean room, with everything we needed for our stay. We were very well received, including our dog. We would definitely stay here again.
Cons -
- The hotel is close to the road and there was some traffic noise at night. I wore earplugs so it didn't bother me much.
- My room was looking over a busy street and the windows had no blinds, which was very annoying to get proper sleep, especially because a street light was shining through and illuminating the bed. The toilet also had an unpleasant smell.

Bad
I stayed here for one night on a short business trip. The room smelled when I arrived. Despite opening the windows, covering the drain and closing the bathroom door, the room smelled until about 4am. The bathroom was not clean, only the towels and bedsheets were. The room was open to the road which was not only loud but also light. The shutters from the outside didn’t stay closed.
Breakfast not included… location is ideal. Very helpful staff.
The owner was really nice. The staff were polite. I really liked the room. Loved the view and the wall decorations. I enjoyed the beautiful rainfall through the ceiling window. It looked like a fantasy movie...
I had to wait for the owner for a long time before they arrived to let us in. I found a dead cockroach in my room as well as spiders and spiderwebs, but I do understand it must be a frequent problem for a place near the trees and sea.
I selected this hotel so as to not be in the middle of Heidelberg, and I was please with the relatively quiet suburban location. There were shops and restaurants nearby, and the main street in front of the hotel got quiet at night.
The hotel has clearly been in use for a long time, and shows some wear and tear. Nothing major, just a general feeling of things being a bit shabby.
We had a bedroom on the back of the house. It is a very nice and old monumental house. The personal was very friendly and they love pets. The location was great. Public transport was available within 50m of the hotel. Parking is a bit small but works fine. Bakery and coffee cafe in 100m of the hotel. Hotel has an Italian restaurant, freshly made food, definitely reccomended. The room and bathroom were very clean!
The bed was too hard and a bit uncomfortable. But fine for a few nights!
Big room, windows that could open to cool down a bit.
With the windows closed it was quite hot.
It was clean and the room was spacious with. Comfortable bed. A good shower too.
It’s a bit run down so looks shabby. However that’s no reason not to use it.
Good location, free parking, possibility to keep the dog, good price, nice staff, clean.
The room was a bit noisy from the road, especially the tram.
The hotel is located in a suburb of Heidelberg so one would have to take a bus into the Aldstadt. Luckily there is a tramstop just steps away from the hotel. (We actually walked a few times to town and one can walk through some lovely neighborhoods.) We arrived on the last day of their Betriebsferien (vacation where the hotel and restaurant is closed) so their kitchen was not in full force. But they did arrange for a lovely lunch for a group lunch on Sunday in the garden. By unplanned coincidence that group I was with had planned a meal on Sunday and we were able to attend. The group noted that Leone d'Oro was a place that they had frequented for years and were glad that the hotel manager was able to support their request for a group dinner. Though we did not have a car, there were parking spots for hotel patrons. It did have internet which was nice (as it was noted in the information that there was no internet access available).
The place is nice but a bit older (windows get stuck) but it only added to its charm. The bed was a bit narrow which did not matter for us but may be an issue for other travelers.
Location was the key for me.
There was hair on the sink and around the toilet. Shower head was full of rust and gunk. Pillow had a blood stain. The room could have been cleaner. Room gets lots of noise from the street.Edit: Hotel staff is not friendly. They called me curse words for the negative review.
Very comfortable room with lovely restaurant downstairs and friendly staff.
Excellent Location. Very close to the tram station and Thoraxklinik
No Thermostat to control room temperature adequately.Wifi signal very weak and had to use my roaming data.No clear signs to hotel entrance as it is in the back.
A really nice little hotel with its own parking place. The room was clean and good. Everyone was really kind at the hotel. The restaurant downstairs was good and travelling alone was comfortable and I felt really welcome to be there. I traveled with a dog and it was a really dog friendly place. There is public transport easily right by the hotel. There is fun and relaxed atmosphere and it is worth visiting and staying overnight. You can also visit only to eat. Food was good also.
The Italian restaurant downstairs was amazing! Best lasagna Al forno ever! The rooms were big and the bed was so comfortable… we slept really well ☺️ the hotel is close to the tram and well connected to the Altstadt. Easy to park at the hotel ? super recommended
All was great!
Gréât restaurant, best pizza ever! Lovely room. Super comfy beds ( no twin beds but huge double).
The room is relatively simple but clean. There is no elevator in the hotel, but the staff helped me move my luggage, so grateful! And the check-out is also very smooth! The bus stop is on the corner, and you can have breakfast, dinner and shopping supermarkets nearby, which are very convenient.
Beautiful interior, very stylish, with an Italian restaurant on the ground floor! Very good wine! The rooms were clean and very comfortable! I would definitely come back! The staff is very friendly!
