The Elgin Nor-Khill Gangtok

I liked the breakfast and dinner buffet at this hotel. I also liked the elegant and tastefully done decor throughout the hotel. The view from the room was that of the entrance but the view of the mountains from the outside dining area was very good.The staff were warm and welcoming and obliged our requests to have items from the breakfast and dinner buffet sent to our rooms since we were all unwell at the time. Also, I promptly received a receipt for the Sikkim tourism fee at check in which shows me that the staff are principled.

I didn't like the overall noise level in the room.The hotel seems to allocate rooms to families in one section. As a consequence, we had to bear noise from families with small kids and that was really annoying especially since my entire family and I were recovering from food poisoning from an earlier excursion. My daughter is 11 years old and very quiet so I felt it unfair to be grouped in with families with smaller kids. We should've probably requested to be moved to another room but were too ill to deal with a move at the time. They should probably space out families in alternate rooms to avoid discomfort to families with bigger kids. On the plus side, small kids sleep early so the racket died down quickly after 10:00 p.m.Restful sleep at night was another challenge. The constant slamming of car doors followed by chatting among the drivers and staff at the entrance as guests arrive and depart from the hotel early morning was quite irritating.

Room had bedbugs and I woke up with my arms all swollen and red. Not expected from a property of this caliber. It was not just in my room, another guest I met at breakfast had same issue.

A beautiful property, elegant and historic. Our room was spacious with a view to the mountains, delightful garden for afternoon tea and view down the valley. Most attentive staff where nothing was a problem, excellent dining room with great breakfasts.

The staff was the best we've ever experienced. It felt as though we were staying with family not at all like a hotel it was a comfortable warm welcoming home ambience.Each and every member of the staff from the reception to dining room to bar room to housekeeping all was superb. Will recommend to all my friends always

worst experience ever

had to wait 45 minutes in washroom after filling one hot tub ?had to make calls for each and everything related to toiletries.there is a typical pungent smell in the room and also the rooms are not well ventilated.

it’s location. located close to a stadium where some or other activities keep going on. This causes a lot of discomfort and disturbance to the guests.

Excellent staff, everyone including the most customer oriented manager, Mr. Basudev. The breakfast and dinner service were excellent led by their F&B Manager, Mr Sudip. We enjoyed our spa treatment as well. The decor and the photos on the walls really showed the heritage of the hotel. We loved our stay and the mascot, who is names “Hilton”, must be a tongue and cheek reference to their competitor. We loved the very friendly dog, Hilton.

location, maintenance and staff.

It is close to a stadium which often becomes a reason for disturbance. There was a marriage ceremony going on at the property during my stay. They were playing full blast blaring music right below my window in the lawn of the Hotel. This was maddening and the Hotel should impose some restrictions on such activities. They should inform the guests in advance so that they have an option to cancel their bookings.

hotel listed under 5 star hotel but reality it’s 3 star hotelDated furniture most of the furniture, toilets, doors, cabinets, windows & locks required to be changes .. I saw hall hotel require major renovations Blankets and linens need to be replaced. at least Pillows that are soiled and have stains on them need to be taken out of the hotel.The room rates are very high compared to the services.

Breakfast service was good. Rooms are spacious. Staff was very attentive.

Breakfast service starts too late at 7.30am which either delays our tour or go without breakfast. The rooms lack electric outlets to charge phones and laptops. Rooms also had mosquitoes.

Decor at the reception and lobby. Probably that’s their only selling point. Most of the other parameters were mediocre at the most, considering the tariff they charge.

Unsmiling Restaurant staffs, slow and poor restaurant service, very limited food options in breakfast and dinner buffet. Attitude of the travel desk to squeeze out the guests. Room and bathroom were nothing great, requires upgradation.

The ambience is amazing. it gives a feel of heritage property. The hospitality of the staff may it be restaurant staff, housekeeping staff or the staff at the reception is commendable. would definitely recommend it

Two separate small mattresses were combined to make the King size bed which was literally uncomfortable. Quality of the mattress was also poor.

Bad rooms, bathrooms need significant modernisation … it is just a 3 star property with 5 star rates
