- Unbelievable beautiful setting in the the mountains of Ba Vi. Super lush gardens to walk around and explore. Good size gym with great views. Breakfast spread was very large and diverse. Set us up for the rest of the day. Very friendly staff.
- The pool was amazing. The location was very pretty. My kids liked the golf carts that took them around. The food was delicious. The family room was two floors. Upstairs had a bedroom with two beds and a bathroom. Downstairs had another bedroom and a sitting area and another bathroom. Rooms did not have doors.
- For us the staff and customer service are what shine at this property! It’s a beautiful location as well and very peaceful. Plus not too far from Hanoi so a great escape from the city.
Cons -
- We liked everything
- Room door is noisy so trying to move about with a baby sleeping is challenging but that’s it.
- Some minor problems with one of our room door (cant open), restaurant took long time to prepare our drinks (we also finish the meal before the drinks were served), breakfast buffet was limited

Great location. The facility also looks nice.

Stunning history to learn for those interested via tour on site. Most beautiful suite with amazing restaurants. 100% attention given to me and my daughter and our VEGAN food needs
We loved the location and the feeling of being in the middle of a forest. The swimming pool was delightful! Tony at the front desk was very nice.
The pool bar service hours were very odd. They stopped serving at 5:30pm which was a big drawback to enjoy the pool with a drink. It was a very special occasion because of our anniversary and even though we let the staff know in advance, we did not feel they cared at all. We've stayed at much humbler hotels and they always went the extra mile for our special occasion and Melia felt extremely short. It was quite disappointing. We wanted to go hiking nearby and we were never told there was actually a nice trek within the premises of the hotel. They only mentioned the 30 minute free tour with very inconvenient timings. If we knew there was a possibility to do it on foot, we would have loved to.All in all, communication and service were not outstanding. We had to ask for everything or feel very clueless as many of the most important items of information were left out of the hotel introduction. Even for dinner we had to request to have our table prepared outside and after we did, many people also chose to sit outside because it was just beautiful to sit outside in nature compared to the cold ambiance of the Senses restaurant inside with way too high air conditioning. Big Thanks to Ton who was so accommodating to our request to have the table set outside.
Amazing setting, beautiful pool and gym overlooking the trees. Rooms were large and comfortable and the buggy tour to the ruins was a fun addition!
You have to eat at the hotel restaurant but they did not tell us we needed to book a table and the restaurant staff seemed a little overwhelmed by having a full restaurant.
Great service by Thuong and Hong at the reception
The hotel itself does not assist with arranging transportation to the venue. This is definitely something to take note of!
We had an absolutely beautiful time at the Melia Ba Vi. The setting was stunning and so peaceful, rooms were clean and comfortable and we were very well attended to throughout our stay by Tuan and his team. Special shout out to Mr Hung who took us on the golf buggy tour around the French ruins - don’t miss out on this as part of your stay!
The location for the Melia Ba Vi Mountain Retreat is really special, nestled on the side of a mountain in the jungle. Going in the "winter" months was very pleasant, as the nights were pleasantly chilly. I imagine in the humid summer months the mountain would be a real respite. I loved my room - great size (premium king), comfy bed, a desk where I could write and a nice little balcony overlooking the trees. I think, overall, the ambiance of the Melia is what you're paying for - winding stone paths, birdsong, the sense of being removed from the urban environment. I also appreciated the little details - like their eggs coming from their local chickens, and the French colonial ruins dotted around the outside of the property that you could tour. Additionally, whoever is running the bar is doing an excellent job - the cocktails I had were a real highlight! Overall, I would recommend this property, but if you have mobility issues you may need to arrange golf cart transport, as everything is uphill/downhill cobblestone paths with limited flat space.
While I really enjoyed my stay, there were a couple of negatives. First off, my spa experience was not good, maybe the second worst massage I've ever had. I told them I had an injury and the masseuse just went ahead and yanked on the bad joint before I could determine if she would or not (she got a little lost midway through the massage as well, as evidenced by five minutes of head patting that did nothing for me except make me want to walk out). Second, there were a couple of times where I felt nickel and dimed - like paying for water at dinner (tap water isn't potable), or being charged a service fee buying postcards in addition to the VAT tax. Little things like that add up.
This place is a must! 5* star rooms and service in the middle of a jungle! The room looked amazing, you can sit on your terrace surrounded by forest! Everyone was mostly helpful and friendly. Food was good, the menu had both western and asian options, nice drinks in the bar as well.Highly recommended.
I did not have time to go to their spa!
All staff were fantastic- Sophie, Vu, Tuan, everyone we met. They even managed to find a new room for us in a quieter areaThe rooms are great and the area is so clean and green
Unfortunately we received an email the evening before booking that government officials were visiting the park and that it would only reopen to tourists at 2pm so we missed the entire morning. The spa was also closed on the saturday, though it was open the next day we didnt have timeThe location was quiet but karaoke is allowed which disturbed the peace and quiet.
Beautiful retreat with wonderful staff who were all so hospitable and helpful. We had a fabulous room - so cosy and comfortable. A big thank you to the lovely Hong for her kind assistance.
Nothing to dislike!
The place is just great, nestled in the mountains of Ba Vi Park. You forget about the noisy Hanoi just few Kms away. The care of the staff and attention to details was outstanding.
I would improve the pizza, for such a high end hotel the pizza was embarassing.I would increase the amount of toilets around the park.I would have larger seats at the restaurants.
The breakfast was good. Dinner was not very impressive.
There not much to do or see around the hotel.
Ambience and the service.
There was no place to hang clothing in the upper floor of the Family Master Suite and in the toilets. There was no shower in the upper deck and the temperature control of the shower fluctuated. Perhaps more information on things to do in the park would be helpful.
Very relaxing atmosphere. Friendly and helpful staff.
Awkward to get to and no transfer to the hotel.
Nice location in the middle of Ba Vi Nationalpark. Fantastic pool, great food.
Area & scenery was beautiful. Staff were very pleasant and helpful.Accommodation itself was very luxurious and special.
The food was a real let down. A very extensive menu with very little fresh food available.I had very bad food poisoning on the first night from a beef burger. And on the second day when we had to order basic food (due to a sensitive tummy after the sickness), we ordered tofu and some basic pasta - both of which tasted off.We were disappointed as there was not much the staff did about this. And we felt as it is an expensive resort (relative to other places we had stayed), the food situation was extremely poor.
Good selection of local and western items
Staff spoke little English but all had google translate
