Pros +
- Perfect location, extremely nice staff (they don't speak any English but they're very patient and use smartphone tools to communicate), the most beautiful garden that you can sit in and go to right from your room. Also, it's quite a budget place but it's really taken care of, it's not expensive but the owners tend the place, the interiors are decorated, each room has its own style. It's not very important for a traveler but I think it tells a lot about the attitude of the owners and how they care about their business.
- The young guy that checked us in was great. The breakfast lady and produce was really good. Large bedroom with seats. Doors to the garden. Location.
- Excellent, quiet location in the center of town near the principal sights and plenty of restaurants. Comfortable, well appointed room. For after-hours, you will have a code getting you access to the private alley as well as the front door
Cons -
- The only thing I didn't like was the price of the breakfast. I bought it not knowing what the prices in French hotels usually are. It was tasty, sure but still it was a bit disappointing to pay 24 euros for a croissant with a piece of cheese and some jam, while in all other hotels that I stayed at the breakfasts cost 9 euros and were much much bigger and had a larger variety of things to eat. So, the hotel is great but if you can, just eat outside.
- The room (#5) was too small for two people and certainly not the 16 square meters we had reservedThere was a noisy air conditioning machine directly below the window, so we had to sleep with the window closed in spite of the heatThe shower leakedThe room was prepaid but the landlady attempted to make us pay a second time.
- Room directly above the huge air conditioners was very noisy all night and had a terrible view, tiny tiny bathroom.

There was a kettle in the room

Quirky. Nice but somewhat messy garden.
Room directly above the huge air conditioners was very noisy all night and had a terrible view, tiny tiny bathroom.
The hotel is run by an older lady with lots of sense of humor and perseverance. She was a delight. And she really has hart for her business and her clients
No airco or fan
Placed just right in the centre of the town. Friendly staff and safe place for our bicycles. Had first rooms in 4th floor, quite hot. Hotel moved us to 3rd floor - very nice.
No elevator.
Quite location despite it was in centre.
The room was in the upper floor, no aircon, too hot there. The pictures of the rooms much nice then reality. Need to be reconstructed. Slight problem with parking, you need to enter walking zone to reach the hotel and then you need to park further away from the hotel.
Central location
Very difficult to access, parking difficult, it was a Fawlty Towers experience…..enough said.
Central location, character property with nice garden, clean, the receptionist one very nice hard working lady
The rooms are rather bland ie one picture and a lot of bare wall so not much character
Friendly owner
Smelly stairs and not very clean This hotel needs some serious makeover
Passable
Staff is not speaking english at all. They ordered taxi for us that didnt come, so we almost missed the train to airport. Garden needs a lot of work.. it is a jungle.
Small authentic hotel with a wonderful hostess
the bed linen etc was very clean but the room was in need of renovation and could have been cleaner
Location was good.
No elevator. Hotel is hidden in an alley; hard to find.
Comfortable beds, very quiet.
Parking was to little for my family car, no problem but it would have been useful knowing it is a car park for small regular cars. Host very helpful as per where to park but as my own cost.
Location in the city. But at the end of dark alle. Literally no parking.
This hotel advertises as having a car park. This is an overstatement. Entry is difficult, exit almost impossible. With an observer, it took 15 minutes to reverse through a narrow alley, so narrow, the tyres of the car were rubbing on the kerb stones.
A member of staff tried to enter my room whilst I was asleap. There was no appology given. In fact she stated that she had knocked and therefore had the right to enter. I have never in all of my years of travelling met a member of an hotels staff more rude than this woman.
A perfect base for a week exploring Besancon and area. Personally managed by the owner. On a historic site at the epicentre of town, at the end of a long courtyard leading off the main street. Terrace and balcony rooms open on to a large mature garden, so very peaceful at night. Excellent bed and bedding, breakfast, (small) bathroom, WiFi, TV. Thank you, Mme Bertin, for your hospitality.
Drivers should be aware of very narrow access and restricted parking space. Those with heavy luggage that this is a four/five-storey building without a lift. Reception on first-floor, rooms on second-floor upwards.
Location
Dirty, decor very tired, bathroom mats randomly on the corridor floor, windows rotten, poor attitude of owner, car aerial deliberately damaged in tiny car park where accidental damage wasn’t possible.
Faulty towers
The photos on the website do not look at all like the actual rooms or the reception area. There is extensive construction going on and a high degree of chaos in the breakfast room and the garden.
