Pros +

  • Location and food were exceptional as were the staff. Parking was very easy and appreciated.
  • Stylish facility with friendly staff.Clean and well located if you came with a car. View of the lake.Very good breakfast with good service.
  • The breakfast was a wonderful addition to our stay. The staff was incredibly helpful sharing directions and arranging a fishing trip for my husband. Our room was very comfortable; our daughter stayed on the sofa pull-put in our suite. We were only there one night and didn't use any of the facilities but they were very attractive!

Cons -

  • It was quite warm in the room so a fan in the bedroom would have made it more comfortable. We changed our plans one day to spend the day at the pool/lake. Unfortunately there were not very many chairs available and yet there were piles of broken chairs. The staff said they did not have the parts to fix them. We had to use broken ones for most of the day and my daughter sat on the ground. And others coming into the facility were constantly on the hunt for chairs that were not broken. That was highly disappointing and I would have expected more/better from such a top notch hotel. I was very sorry that we cancelled our plans for that.
  • We weren't told they are hosting a large group on those dates. Some of the facilities were reserved for the group, and it was noisy until rather late (12:30-1)Another issue, the corridor next to the stairs on the first floor (access to some of the rooms) smells terrible from the cooking downstairs. I guess they can remedy that easily. Also, why would you charge for parking on your premises?
  • It was a very last minute stay so I didn't get a favorable rate, yet I didn't necessarily expect one, either?

We had a lovely room with comfortable bed. A nice sofa to sit and relax. Fantastic large bathroom for 2 people to easily get ready. Superb breakfast!!

It would have been nice to have coffee making facilities in the room

Very tiny room. Bed wasn't that comfortable.

This hotel is wonderful! Old world charm with modern updates to the rooms and facilities. The lobby and sitting area where we had a welcome drink was elegant with a nice view of the lake. The breakfast buffet was fantastic with choices galore and the dining area was absolutely beautiful with more views of the lake. Our room was perfect with ample space and a sitting area with armchairs and a table. There was a ton of closet and shelf space as well. One thing we experienced that seems very common all over Germany is having two twin beds pushed together as a king sized bed. It's really not any issue and the bed and bedding were super comfortable.

Not a thing.

Very nice idyllic location.

Some of the staff was quite rude. Some of the installations are rather old or not functioning.

It was very classy and yet comfortable. Extremely clean. Incredibly nice staff. Excellent location with such a breathtaking view. I loved getting a relaxing massage before leaving and I particularly enjoyed dining at the restaurant and the breakfast near the really big windows. Every guest is made to feel very important.Honestly - I can’t wait to come back.

I can’t find anything I don’t like about the property.

Great location overlooking the lake and beside a park which is great when you have a dog. Excellent staff and very well managed in all aspects

Lovely hotel, a feeling of history and grandeur, and the generally older clientele make for a setting of manners and politeness. The restaurant staff are nice and the buffet style (half board) evening meal was nice. The Lido and pool (bit cold) at the lake are so nice.

The wifi was non existent in the rooms, the children sat in the hall way near the main building if they needed it. This could so easily be fixed, as I have read previous comments with the same remark. The furniture and bathroom is outdated but comfortable and clean. Of course at a like side you expect some mosquito’s but no possibility of opening a window with a protective net of some kind. As the rooms have no air-co, being able to open a window would be nice. Also charging 13 euro’s a night for the hotel guest parking made no sense when you are charging premium prices for the rooms.

I’m not going back again… it reminds me of the mansion from Resident Evil 1

1) There was no A/C it felt like we were in a steam room while we were sleeping.2) The food was so terrible.3) The building is so old it needs some renovation.4) WiFi is bad… so slow5) The shower gel smells like olive oil… ugh.6) The town was not worth the visit… I’d rather staying at Meersburg.

Beautiful hotel, with very an amazing view of the lake.Very helpful staff!Super breakfast and dinner.

Nothing!!

10MICHELLEPosted on: 5-7-2023

It’s lake front, with a park right next to it. The dining rooms are beautiful with fantastic view of the lake. Nice sauna and spa service.

The furnishings in the room are outdated. Could use a facelift.

Quiet room, friendly staff and excellent location.

Wi-fi was not great in the room

5DirkPosted on: 10-6-2022

Great Location, friendly helpfull staff.

Small room, Noisy Heating, smelly carpet, old furniture

10MarkPosted on: 10-4-2022

Beautiful hotel on the lakeside. For a large hotel, the welcome was very personal with a glass of local fizz on arrival. The staff go out of their way to be helpful. Short 2km walk to the island of Lindau along the lake.

Paying to park in the hotel car park! It's not a low cost hotel and not in a city centre so the extra €11 to park seems petty

We opted for a better room this time, a double with a terrace facing the lake and we were very happy. The terrace was large and the view was exceptional. The beds are very comfortable however, we don't care for the German pillows and should have asked for a second pillow each. The rooms do not have air conditioning and normally that's fine but it was quite warm on our first night so we asked for a fan. Arriving guests need to keep in mind that this is an old style hotel with a grand sitting area, smaller rooms, no AC but the best location on the lake with the Lido pool/lake access. We enjoy staying here but recognize it is not for every traveler. The choices on the breakfast buffet are abundant, with cold meat and cheese, smoked salmon and herring, tomatoes and cucumbers, fruit, yogurt and muesli, jams, honey and various breads and pastries. Additionally, there is a chef that makes eggs/omelettes to your liking as well as sausages and bacon. You will not go hungry for breakfast or for dinner if you have dinner included. The staff is extremely accommodating, friendly and helpful adding to a very nice and relaxing stay.

The dinner buffet on the first night was delicious but we felt the dishes went downhill the next three nights. The furniture in the rooms is very outdated and while we were very content with our room the jr. suite and suite we checked out were just too outdated for our liking and for the price.

The hotel was beautifully situated next to the lake. The hotel have a nice terrace with direct view over the lake. There was a nice park at the hotel with art and adorable houses.

We booked 3 rooms for one night (6 people). The staff was arrogant and unfriendly from we arrived. Everything was difficult and they created many reservations, including referring to a test center in town. However, the center was closed upon arrival (we specifically asked) and suddenly they could perform the test at the hotel. There were almost no guests at the hotel. Nevertheless, they only barely managed to squeeze us into the restaurant (designed for 50+ guests). As the time was 8 pm they could only serve 2 out of 3 courses for us. Afterwards sitting on the terrace, we were asked to leave (not due to COVID but due to noice!) at midnight (4 adults talking on a Friday evening). Overall we did not experience any service at all. None of us enjoyed the stay. Except from one (new) member of the staff at the breakfast it appears that it is the whole culture of the hotel’s staff that is the real problem.Completely different from all other stays we have had in Germany as we have always experienced outstanding service.

Splendida location

I had an amazing time in one of the most beautiful hotels I’ve ever been to. The staff went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and the whole experience was excellent! I can’t wait to come again!
