Ananthaya Beach

Quite a small hotel (probably around 20 rooms in total), all facing the ocean and the sunrise. Large rooms, intimate, large windows to watch the sunrise. Nice pool, good breakfast (even if it's not too varied) with fresh juices and fresh fruits. Very friendly staff. Their restaurant is ok (not great), with average prices and fresh seafood (ask for the catch of the day). For access to the beach, you need walk for about 5 minutes, but you get to bathe in the harbor area where the waters are calm (as opposed to other beaches in Sri Lanka). The hotel is in a remote location, but you can still have access to some local tavernas. They also offer a small spa, specifically massages and ayurvedic treatments

The accomodation is very well located near a wild beach, where you can easily swim. Some fishermen small boats are on the shore. The rooms are large, 85% clean, very confortable bed, good water pressure. Overall this is a great location, clean pools, very friendly service, good restaurant with other choices near by, amazing sunrise views. The spa services are very qualitative as well. Good choices of beverages and food in the menu. The breakfast offers fruits, eggs, srilankan choices (very tasty), coffee, tea, fresh fruit juice.

It would be great if there is light in the way to the beach in the night.

Access to the villa was not great. It was hard to find it as well due to lack of signage. Road was in a poor condition

Getting to the property from Galle Fort was a bit complicated for our Bookings driver.

Beautiful property with two pools overlooking the sea! The rooms were gorgeous and the staff in the restaurant were lovely. All the food there was great too. A little out of Tangelle but perfect for a very peaceful few days.

Awsome accommodation. Big and clean room withe great and well maintained bathroom. The breakfast was best. We enjoyed the 2 pool a lot and loved the place to relax our more active vacation in sri lanka. Staff was great and very welcoming. We would recommend it and come back again.

Very friendly and helpful staff, well-maintained grounds, and spotless rooms. Comfortable beds, great pool, and a perfect view from the terrace.

The hotel is located uphill from a fishing harbor, where someone was burning not just plants but also plastic bottles. The fumes were noticeable both in the evening on the terrace and during breakfast in the restaurant.The restaurant staff were very friendly, but the food was disappointing. The fruit platter was fine, but overall it was the worst breakfast we had in three weeks on the island. I was not able to taste the local dishes as they need to be ordered a day before, but we have not been informed about that during check-in. What we got was underwhelming, for the first time in my life I was unable to finish simple scrambled eggs. The fish I had for dinner was good, but the sides like fries and a kebab-style salad did not taste well. Simple rice and local vegetables would have been much better. Kids chicken nuggets meal had zero vegetables apart from French fries. Prices are relatively high in the restaurant and there have been no alternatives nearby as all the restaurants have been closed in July. Overall, it was ok for one night stay, but I’m happy we haven’t booked the hotel for longer.

By far, the best resort we have stayed in, in all Sri Lanka. Outstanding location, beautiful rooms, and incredible service. The pool was refreshing, as well as it has indirect access to the beach. Overlooks the ocean from the entire resort, especially from the balcony. Food was superb.Our deepest gratitude to Gayyan, and his whole team, especially Thivanka. Gayyan, the manager, is so respectful, attentive, and provides great service, and is someone who truly enjoys his job. And even after we left, he was helping us with tours. Will definitely book again. Thank you guys once again.

Beach access was not very direct, and not advisable after dark, however, the pool makes up for it.

Amazing views of the sea, no direct access but this isn’t an issue with the amazing infinity pool.Breakfast had a good selection, lots of fruit and if you order the day before, you can get the Sri Lankan breakfast.The hotel is a great size, not too big so you get a personal service, staff addressed us by name.Great to hang out in the pool which has some floats and toys for the kids.

Super clean room, really clean facility. Nice pool with a view of the ocean. When you arrive make sure you pre order Sri Lanka breakfast, otherwise you get western food.

Beach access is far and you can’t stay at the beach. Restaurant is too expensive.

Hotel staff arrange Tuk Tuk to see Turtle night watching. Amazing experience had turtle laying eggs. We had amazing two night stay. Highly recommended this place to spend holiday. Good value for money.

Great place, nice and clean, amazing service, good food!

The view is incredible, and the whole experience was top-notch. We were very well looked after by both the staff and the owner. We enjoyed celebrating the New Year with a taste of traditional Sri Lankan party food for breakfast and were truly made to feel part of the family.The private beach is ideal for young children, as it's sheltered from the stronger waves just to the left. That beach, to the left, is honestly one of the most stunning we've ever seen.We 100% recommend this hotel – especially for families.

Our stay at Ananthaya Beach on March 29th, 2025, was a fantastic last-minute decision after we changed our travel plans from Sigiriya. We were immediately greeted with a lovely refreshing juice, and the caretakers set a wonderfully relaxed tone. Understanding how tired we were after waking up at 4 am for Yala Safari, they let us get to our room right away without asking for passports immediately – so accommodating!The room itself was spacious with calming sea views and was conveniently close to the pool. Swimming with my partner and seeing a firefly for the first time was a truly magical and romantic moment.The food was another highlight! Our dinner on the first night was so good that we didn't hesitate to have lunch there the next day as well. Huge compliments to the chef – the meals were great, and it was nice to even see the fresh seafood they had sourced.What really stood out was the incredibly welcoming and trusting nature of the caretakers. They kindly allowed us a very late checkout around 1:30 pm, which made us feel completely at ease and valued.Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer due to a non-cancellable booking in Tangalle. The single minor hiccup was a tuk-tuk driver, arranged via the hotel, who tried to charge us extra.Despite that small point, I wholeheartedly recommend Ananthaya Beach! It was a genuinely comfortable and welcoming stay.

We spent a few wonderful days here with our kids — this place is absolutely ideal for a family vacation. The hotel currently has only four villas, so it’s very peaceful and quiet. The atmosphere feels almost like home: the staff are incredibly kind, always smiling, and super helpful with anything we needed. Everything was well organized and stress-free.The view from the hotel is simply breathtaking — lush jungle and the ocean all in one! ? The bay is naturally protected by breakwaters, so the water is calm and safe for children to swim.Every day we enjoyed delicious, fresh seafood, fruits, and vegetables — everything tasted natural and full of flavor. The hotel grounds are magical: full of greenery, with squirrels running around, colorful birds flying above, and even peacocks visiting! Down in the jungle, we spotted monkeys, mongooses, and monitor lizards — the kids were thrilled! ??We were also impressed by the hotel’s spa center, which offers a wide range of relaxing treatments — perfect after a day of exploring. You can even arrange a private yoga session with a professional instructor, practicing with a stunning ocean view — an unforgettable experience! ?‍♀️?The hotel also offers amazing excursions — we went on a safari and visited a few beautiful places nearby. Everything was super comfortable: private car, AC, knowledgeable driver-guide, and flexible timing — perfect when traveling with children.If you're looking for a peaceful, green escape with great food, warm people, and unforgettable nature — this is the place. There are some stray dogs on the beach — this is not the hotel’s fault, but rather a common issue in Sri Lanka in general. Most of them are harmless, but it’s best to be cautious and not leave children unattended, especially near food or in the early mornings and evenings.

At first the entrance was through a construction area of the new part of hotel, which wasnt a good first impression. pass the entrance we were welcome in the restaurant with a a magical view,a freshly made juice and early check-in. The pool perfect temperature, the rooms big and clean and most importantly the service, all boys run hotel, they were always ready to help, husband got tanned way to much and the gardener collected aloe vera from the plants, and in the kitchen they peeled and blended and gave us the gel for his shoulders and back, help us find coconut oil for the gilrs hair, and things like that, that are out of their service scope made us feel soo much at home. the food was amazing and very tasty ... we saw lots of monkeys in the pool, peacocks, squierrrels, my little ones loved this place, and we will definiotely be back once the new part they are building its completed. they helped us with every transfer, every tour, every detail. after we stayed in 3 hotels more and none got close to their service of Ananthaya beach.
