Dickwella Beach Hotel

This hotel offers very nice and comfortable accommodations on a fantastic stretch of beach in Dikwella. The rooms are big and well appointed. The staff is INCREDIBLY HELPFUL and pleasant. The hotel has a nice shady garden and lawn with comfortable chairs and tables if you want to stay in the shade. They also have chaise lounges on the beach if you’d rather lounge in the sun and chaise lounges under palapas if you want to be in the shade and on the beach. They have all you need!

It's the perfect place to stay! 3 minutes by tuktuk or scooter to Hiriketiya, you have a vast private beach to yourself, with the most amazing sunsets and perfect double bed sunbeds on the beach with plenty of shade. Those sunbeds are so good, we almost didn't want to get up and go to gorgeous Hiriketiya to eat / surf / swim. We booked for 2 nights and eventually stayed for 6. These are the kind of places you dream about when you think about the tropics: Not too much unnecessary luxury, but still a nice clean room, with a balcony overlooking the sea, good AC, decent shower, clean sheets, right on the beach (don't forget the beach bar of course), nice staff, and all this for such a low price!!! Amazing value.

Make sure you book the better rooms, with the sea view. They are much better, not only because of the view. The part without sea view is older and the shower isn't good. I would still stay there though! For us It was still worth it for the perfect location. But if a good room is important to you, then you need the new part of the hotel, facing the sea.

No WIFI in rooms, which they dont mention in the booking. WIFI available only in some parts of the common areas in the hotel, still very badRooms were very clean, still many aunts around and the fridge, even though it was clean, it was old and yellowish, which make it disgusting to put food in it

the hotel is located on a wide beach, in a quiet bay, which is its greatest asset. The staff is extremely helpful, friendly and smiling. Tasty breakfasts and dinners, delicious drinks from the beach bar. The rooms had a beautiful view of the sea. The standard in the rooms was unfortunately quite low, but it did not bother us, because we spent the whole day visiting the nearby beaches.

location is good have a good beach but the staff hospitality was really bad

everything is too old there , no maintenance done ,furniture is outdated and in the google maps they have added swimming pool photos in the gallery (as the first image)but they dont have any pool, when confronted they say it was added by a guest yet they havent removed it customer service at the hotel was not good at all

The staff are very friendly and willing to help. The place is very clean. The location is right in the beach. The room is really big and spacious and it’s very peaceful.The staff make the place they are lovely!

The shower pressure isn’t great, which is noted in other reviews. You couldn’t wash your hair in it, it would take a long time.The WiFi doesn’t work in the rooms (which you are told on check in)but it doesn’t work great in other areas which it should,we haven’t experienced anywhere else in Sri Lanka.The bar last orders is 930 pm for drinks, the whole beach front does close early but strange as it’s a hotel and ourselves and other guests would be sat there, they would turn off all the lights too. It’s a shame as it’s a nice area to relax and have a drink.Could do with some more sun loungers.We did add on another night to avoid moving again but we think it’s maybe a little over priced for what it is.

The wi fi wasn’t very good in the room. Also being charged 3 percent for paying the bill with a credit card.

Great Location, away from the noisy and busy part of the area, but still walking distance! Breakfast was fantastic, and bar snacks during the day. Beach bar was also great quality. Rooms were a good size with good showers.

Not much, if you do not looking for problems in small details. Hotel with SriLanka family service, you need to relax and enjoy then everything will be superb.

We loved it. Right on the beach so didn't need a pool. Informal and relaxed which added to its charm. It's not like a generic resort and that's what made it so special. Lots of local restaurants and shops that you can walk to, but it's still quiet and in a beautiful location. My perfect image of a tropical beach.

Shower with no water, no internet in the rooms

Superb location right on the beach. Some of the older rooms are pretty tired, but they are cheaper than the new rooms, fair enough! The AC was good, beds were perfectly clean and comfortable, and the wifi was pretty reliable. The (relatively new?) Rumor Beach Bar is within the hotel grounds and does beers, coffees, and lots of cocktails. The Hotel is situated towards the east end of the beach - this is great because the west part of the beach is not safe for swimming. Loads of really good beach restaurants are just moments away, along with Smoke & Bitters the celebrated high-end cocktail bar / restaurant.

Breakfast was not included, but we always ate at the hotel. One of the best breakfast of Sri Lanka (at least on our jurney). We also tried a fwe lunch/dinner options and I have to say - they were quite good. The hotel is on a quiet beach Dickwella, but the noisy and livley Hirikiteya beach is only a short distance away (15 minutes walking). We loved the surfing there, but the beach is quite crwded and small so we loved ours a lot more. The Dickwella beach is big and uncrowded and we loved the combo of the two. ALso on Dickwella is the wonderfull restaurant Smoke and bitters - the one place where is worth to go all in - the food is amazing. Book a table - you will not be sorry. The service is really quick too.

It takes at least 45 minutes to get the food, but it is well wroth the wait. Also it is simmilar all over Sri Lanka, so you get used to it.
