About
The Pavillon des Lys is a private mansion built in 1703, transformed into a charming 4-star hotel in 2004. Some of our rooms are independent, located on the ground floor of the establishment. Garden, large on-site parking, and bike reception. The hotel is located in the heart of the royal city, a stone's throw from the royal castle of Amboise, Clos Lucé, the last resting place of Leonardo da Vinci, and Château Gaillard.

Pros +
- nice old hotel with charm
- Everything was delightful. Host was most welcoming and helpful. Make sure to have the delicious bountifulbreakfast. Modern bath and oversized room in a perfect central location with onsite free parking.Highly recommend.
- We stayed in the cottage and loved the exposed wood truss and loft. Free parking in a very secure parking area.
Cons -
- beds too hard
- Wasn't anything
- The lighting in the small "cabin" separate from the main building, is very poor for reading in bed. Also, while the room has amenities (towels, etc.) and a bed size for two people, there is not nearly enough space for the luggage and clothing for two. I would also have very much preferred rectangular pillows to the huge square ones that are offered here. They are much too thick for a smaller person; I tried sleeping with and without a pillow and had neck pain upon awakening no matter which option I chose. We stayed over a week, a while the breakfast suited for a couple of days, after a few more days it gets really boring. There is also a lot of laminated print material (explaining the "rules") in the room which felt very Motel 6, that is, more like a very low-end hotel.

This hotel is an absolute gem located in the center of town.Guillaume at the front desk was friendly and helpful every day and I was so happy with every single aspect of our 4 day stay. The room was roomy and well appointed, the breakfast was perfect and literally I cannot recommend it enough.
Elegant small private hotel located in centre of Amboise with car parking. Conveniently located for restaurants and walking distance to Leonardo Davinci's chateau.
Wasn't anything
The location was perfect! This property is within a short walk to everything Amboise has to offer. The bonus is that there is a wonderful courtyard, off the main streets, which makes it very quiet and dark for good sleeping conditions. The breakfast room is so very pleasant. Adding to the pampered "feel," real china and flatware are used. They also place a rose on every table. So lovely and a great setting to start the day. Coffee is plentiful and of excellent quality.

The front desk gentleman - so friendly! The rooms were amazing and so much larger than expected. Loved it!! I’m planning to come back next year and would recommend to anyone who wants to see the region.
It was perfect
Hotel location was perfect in the middle of Amboise and yet very quiet. Amboise Chateau, lovely town centre and restaurants and bars were at the doorstep of the hotel. The staff were very polite, attentive and kind.
There wasn’t any tea/coffee making facilities in the room. And the wifi was unsecure connection. I think it is generally common in France…
This is an elegant and peaceful place to stay. This was our second visit to this welcoming B&B. Parking is on site and it is only a short distance to walk to the centre of Amboise. Right on the River Loire, the small town is very attractive, with traditional French architecture, beautiful historical places to visit within easy walking distance, (the Chateau and Clos Luce), and many small restaurants and cafes also at easy walking distance. There are many more wonderful chateaus and places to explore if in a car.
This town is picture perfect, with beautiful architecture and welcoming people, there is nothing to dislike.
We had a lovely room and a very good breakfast. Very friendly and nice staff

Staff were so welcoming and helpful
Decor a bit dated but location more than made up for it
Centrally located within easy walking distance to nearby shops, restaurants and the castle of Amboise. Parking on site is available. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean. A beautiful property whose staff couldn’t have been more welcoming. We would highly recommend.
I honestly can’t think of anything, other than to reach the bedrooms there are stairs, so it may not be most suitable from an accessibility point of view.
Fantastic private feel with its own courtyard in the centre of the city - and very friendly staff.
Beautiful hotel and room. Great location in Amboise center near the chateau. Lots of good restaurants and wine bars within short walking distance. Onsite parking, a big plus. Nice parlor for reading and relaxing. We loved it.
Thought breakfast, though nice, was a bit expensive.
Perfect location for the walked city grest resturant recommendations comfortable clean and well appointed room
The Wi-Fi system sent me to some sort of private link that then caused my phone to crash I’m not the most techi person on the planet but be cautious my phone was out of action until I was able to connect to Wi-Fi in my next location. it also continually drained my battery neither myself or husband could do anything even switching off the phone didn’t help
Fantastic location, facilities were clean and well maintained and staff was friendly and helpful.

The location could not be beat. Right in the center of Amboise with private parking on site. Walking to restaurants, the Loire, and Chateau Royal d’Amboise within 5 minutes. The room was clean. Breakfast was good.
The bed was a little past its prime. otherwise no complaints.
