ibis Chalon-sur-Saone Europe

Location for us was perfect, it was quiet, the room and the bed were very comfortable and the hotel restaurant was very good. We found this Ibis to be superior to the other Ibis properties we have stayed in recently and we were pleasantly surprised.

Staff smoking area was just below our room which meant we couldn't keep the windows open, which wasn't ideal when air conditioning didn't cool the room down

Friendly, efficient staff. Comfortable and clean. Easy parking. Good location. Food good.

The only issue was a man wearing a mask was seated next to our table when the restaurant was virtually empty. Fortunately we had almost finished so left soon after. Strange decision by the staff and the man himself.

We booked in advance and had a conformation booking from booking.com - we arrived to be advised that despite showing our booking confirmation details there was no reservation confirmed and the hotel was not able to offer us a room. We had booked the room as our one stop on a long journey from the Alps to the UKThe hotel advised us that Booking.com had not sent the booking to them so we did not have a room as the hotel was fully booked. The member of staff at the hotel reception was polite but unable to offer us a room.We were offered a meal at the hotel. We understood that this was a good will gesture for our inconvenience. After the meal we received a bill for the full amount. We paid the bill!It took us many hours to find a hotel with a room and having arrived at the hotel around 6 pm we did not arrive at our replacement hotel until 1100 pm - it took us many hours on the phone/ online to secure a hotel for the night. We had to drive an extra one hour and thirty minutes. After writing to booking.com and having to chase for a response we eventually received a refund for the room that we had booked and paid for, but this did not include the tax we paid and did not include any apology. We have used booking.com for years. Shocked by the response.

Fairly uneventful stay. Luckily my neighbours weren't too noisy.

There was a little bit of dirtiness in the bathroom. But the real annoyance was the door that allows families to link hotel rooms. The door provided zero sound-proofing which means zero privacy. If you want to share your space with other random travellers then it would be much cheaper to book a bed in a hostel. This hotel room design is so outdated now - it is time to brick up those doors and bring peace, quiet and privacy to the room.

Location convenient near the highway

No Kette for hot water. And they gave you literally one paper cup and that's it! Also no wardrobe. It's shabby for a 3-star hotel.

friendly helpful staff. Very smart and modern building, rooms well soundproofed. brilliant breakfast and very good evening meal in the restaurant which saved having to find something after a long day. carpark attached .

Distance from town centre

We have stayed at this hotel twice now, each time for a one-night stopover on the drive to the South of France. It's straight off the motorway and good value for money, with the added bonus of a good restaurant and nice atmosphere that gets us in the holiday mood!

The food was good, both breakfasts, and twice we ate in the restaurant. Both times the food was flavoursome and particularly good for what is considered to be a budget hotel. The staff seemed really conscientious, aiming yo be as friendly and helpful as possible.

It was a 35 minute walk into Chalon, which felt a bit too far to just pop into town. The buses stopped running at 8.00pm. So best to have a car.

It was very good! Clean, comfortable and with a pool!

Breakfast was minimalWater was cut off in the morning. They ONLY told us that the moment we already checked in and not beforehand. It's NOT professional and seems shady to withhold information like that from beforehand. The honest thing to do is to warn in advance.The least they can do is provide compensation; You pay for a room and for utilities. If one of the utilities is not available it is only fair to receive a discount

Comfy and quiet, staff are helpful

In the middle of nowhere. That's not normally an issue, but as their restaurant shuts at 9, it leaves you with very little decent options for dinner if you arrive late

Air conditioning not brilliant, hence a very hot night. The evening meal was disappointing.

Very convenient location for access off the motor way suited our overnight stay. Hotel was spotless and everything we needed was in the room. The staff from check in at reception to the bar staff and waiting staff in the restaurant were excellent and so helpful and big beautiful smiles. We really enjoyed our stay even only as a pit stop.

The toilet in the bathroom didn’t leave much leg room.
