- We loved the breakfast! Ali makes the best drinks hands down!! Innocense is very nice and caring. Our Lunch & Dinner as so delicious. Pizza was good. Everything is good geez. Even the Massai Security guards are super nice makes me feel safe! Rooms are cleannn!!!!!!! The owner of the Place is a 20 something young beautiful lady who is so nice and accommodating! She speaks so many languages , from Italiano too hence why the pizza is delicious and is up to date. Now my friend just booked to come stay there too for her birthday too. I stayed with my sister for 5 days it was the best 5 days ever!! I felt presidential mind you I’m a world traveler!!! The couple in the villa next to us loved the place too! 15/10 in my book. The other hotels can’t compete including 4 seasons!!
- 1- The location is just PERFECT. The beach is only a step away. Literally just a step. 2- The Staff were the most welcoming and sweet I have ever seen from the receptionist to the waiters: Sulaiman, Eddy, Innocent, Aly, Ga’afar. Everyone just made my stay more special. 3- Cleanliness: they make your room twice a day, one after breakfast and another after dinner.
- The staff are very welcoming, approachable and attentive to guests' needs. The villa was spacious and comfortable, felt like home. The resort has one of the best beachfronts in Zanzibar. If you're looking for privacy and comfort, with resort services, this's your gem.
Cons -
- I didn’t like that I had to leave and come back home to reality!!!
- 1- The toilet: I would’ve appreciated more the handheld bidet more than the floor-mounted bidet. 2- The food: I wish there was a better chef.
- Recurrent electricity shutdown and water cutoff in the middle of the night and early mornings, wasn't the best thing to wake up to.

Imara resort is a very special place, if you need to recharge feel very special and need to be taking care as a friend not as a client you’re in the right spot. The beach is all yours, the seafood buffet was the only thing we ate everyday and we didn’t even get enough of it . Erika becomes more family than a host, we really felt so happy and taken cared of during our stay, every little detail.. Recommand the boat trip. We’re definitely coming back ❤️❤️Thank u imara for everything Sarah and Hala.
We liked everything! The check-in process was so smooth and quick! Our family room was specious, spotless clean with very curated details. The a/c was working well and also a fan. It's a small resort (6 or 8 rooms) which makes it very cozy. The room had a beautiful terrace with sunbeds, an umbrella and easy access to the beach. One night the ocean was very active and you could hear the waves very close; we liked this experience very much! The breakfast is very rich, fresh and the Italian touch is clear all over. The kitchen is the cleanest we saw in Zanzibar (we had a glimpse when the door was swiftly open while we were waiting for our order. The lunch and dinner were very good and enjoyable, too! All meals were served in the restaurant with a unique ocean view. Also the infinity pool, available 24hrs, was very nice. Overall, we highly recommend Imara. Thanks Erika and the whole staff for making our stay a memorable one!
My wife and I celebrated our 25th Anniversary at Imara. Getting to Imara from the airport takes about an hour, and the road leading to the Hotel is pretty rough. Once you get to the Hotel, though, it's perfect. We stayed on the first floor in the room closest to the pool. During high tide, the waves crashed right below us. Lying out on our lounge chair right outside our room, right beside the pool, and with waves crashing right in front of us was really relaxing. We were there in June so the weather wasn't too hot. Also, the food was excellent. A little pricey, but great quality.
During breakfast, we were visited by honey bees every morning except the first morning. Our waiter said it was that time of year, but it seems like something could have been done to keep them away. Also, there were quite a few mosquitoes while lying out. It seems like something could be done to keep them away from the hotel since the hotel isn't very large.
Superb boutique hotel right on the ocean, exceptional staff, views and service. The rooms were airy and very comfortable. The incredible staff made the stay a pleasure, from the wonderful breakfast to the help and advice on things to do and what to avoid during our stay.
Beautiful small hotel nice beach but far from anything else
Quiet and clean
Bad
We didn't like the place. Stayed only for one night n forced to pay for three nights despite telling them the place is below our expectations..
Rooms were big and had an unobstructed view of the ocean. Location was right at the beach, on a not-so-busy part of the beach.I cannot overstate how good the fresh juice was. My wife was addicted and we might go back just for their juice alone. The hotel is quiet, since there are few rooms.
Access to the property is through what looks like a small market and people's homes. Not exactly their fault, but it might be scary for someone going there for the first time and arriving in the night. The a la carte menu is quite limited and the food is above average at best. Nothing to die for, but it's something you can eat comfortably if you have to. There's a lively bar/restaurant next door with nice food though. The kiwengwa town is small and nothing much to do there so be aware that you'll probably spend most of your time in the hotel and the beach. Or drive somewhere else for activities. The pool is quite small. Okay for a couple but beyond that, it gets uncomfortable. Especially if you are staying with other guests that have kids.
It has amazing view Nice food What I like is the owner of the hotel is there so she’s so helpful if you needed anything
Nothing the only thing is that if you book a room from booking they won’t give the same room you booked it’s not like booking their policy
The property was right in front of the beach which was good
I didn’t like the fact that the resort was in a village area with no good accessible roads
We had an absolutely dreamy and unforgettable stay at Imara. The staff were simply amazing—attentive, friendly, and anticipated our every wish. The resort itself is located on a stunning, relatively quiet beach, yet there were plenty of options nearby with restaurants and bars for variety. The food at Imara was outstanding. Our room was very spacious, and having private loungers for the lower-level rooms was a huge bonus. The pool was simply unbeatable — not only beautiful to look at but also perfect for cooling off. Honestly, it was such a fantastic experience. We’ve stayed at many hotels, but Imara is truly something special! Absolutely 100% recommended.
Everything was perfect, but a bit more variety at breakfast would be a nice touch. Just a minor suggestion!
Lovely quiet location, gorgeous view, welcoming and friendly staff!
Everything, the location right on the beach. Evening when u just step down u will step directly in the sea. The food is amazing am a fan of their Healthy Bowl and Zanzi Coffee.❤️❤️
Nothing I remember
Comfortable spacious rooms. Amazing beachfront location with a beautiful sandbank forming right in front of the hotel during tides.Exceptionally friendly staff, especially Eddy and Ali. Thank you for a great time.
Perfect place!! Spacious and clean rooms. Excellent service. The staff just does everything to make us have a perfect vacation. We definitely recommend the hotel and will return to it again for sure.
We felt like we are home. Erika and all team are too kindly, the all inclusive menu is fantastic. My compliments to the chef! The view and the pool are incredible!
The day that I had to go back home hahaha
Beautiful views, very clean, great service, friendly staff

I went with my daughter and a few of her friends. I really enjoyed the stay and Erica and the team were so helpful with helping us organize tours. The beach and facilities were beautiful. The pool was a bit small but we did not spend much time there anyway with the beautiful beach. The rooms were spacious - TV and A/C- private balcony overlooking the beach with very nice toiletries in the bathroom. The rooms have European sockets but they provided adapters in each room. The food was amazing - breakfast was wonderful. Italian pastries/ fresh fruits/ full breakfast/fresh juice and coffee. We really enjoyed our stay.
Nothing really. The pool was small but we didn't stay there much with the beautiful beach.
