Location!

Sewer gas smell from bathroom was very strong.

The very positive and personal warm service and of course that it is in the absolute best possible location within the Diocletian palace of Split. We will be back!

The location of the hotel is amazing in a very interesting area. We loved the very historic feel of the hotel building itself and the decor. The staff were incredible, and were so kind and helpful. The amazing 3-course breakfasts were served in a wonderful restaurant in a beautiful square just round the corner.

We loved our stay! The property is in the perfect location right in the middle of Split and was clean and comfortable. Also, the hotel’s assistance with our baggage and with getting us to the ferry was very appreciated.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The staff went above and beyond—always friendly, attentive, and incredibly helpful. They had fantastic recommendations for local side trips and restaurants, which really made the experience even more memorable. The service made all the difference and added a personal touch that’s hard to find. Overall, an excellent experience. I would absolutely stay here again.

We stayed at this lovely property for three nights and our experience was nothing short of fabulous. The location, service, history and attention to detail was simply over the top. Evita, Ivan and the rest of the staff went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. The ease of communication from the very beginning of our stay, right up until we departed was easy and so much appreciated. We will certainly be back.

Loved the location and the staff went above and beyond to make us comfortable. Ivan met us at the parking space, help carry all of our bags and made a parking situation that could have been stressful so easy. The hotel is cute, clean and exceptionally comfortable. They only have 5 rooms and you really feel like being home. Highly recommend.

An excellent stay at a beautiful hotel. The staff were extremely attentive and couldn’t do enough for us. Whether that was giving us recommendations for restaurants, assisting us with luggage or just supplying us with extra bottles of water - nothing ever felt like too much trouble. Perfect location right in the middle of the palace. Couldn’t recommend more highly.

Everything- authentic stunning property located within the palace walls. Even tho we were surrounded by antique beauty- the WiFi and modern amenities were perfect. Ivan and Edita were outstanding host and hostess. We would definitely return to CARDO!

A fantastic location in the heart of the Diocletian palace, and a room with a view of a street that is some 1700 years old. It was raining when we arrived and Edita met us at the ferry with umbrellas and arranged a taxi to the hotel - which we might have struggled to find otherwise. She was exceptionally helpful, recommending and booking a restaurant for lunch on the first day.

Other reviews raved about the breakfast which is provided at a restaurant around the corner, but we didn't enjoy it as much as others have done. It's a three course affair that was quite heavy going and the single cup of coffee served as part of the breakfast felt a bit mean. Our room was smaller than we had expected so it did feel a little cramped, and the lighting was poor - only one bedside table with a single lamp and nowhere convenient to plug in a phone. We wished we had booked a larger room - but that's on us. A lesson learned for next time!

This historic hotel is in city center. Great location. The hotel is beautiful. Every detail is perfect. The staff is friendly and helpful. The room is comfortable and cozy. Loved the daily breakfast.

Warm, accommodating. and constantly went out of their way to ensure we had a wonderful stay.Their restaurant recommendations were fantastic.The location was perfect, right in the middle of Old Town Split in the heart of the Diocletian Palace. The property offered us the beauty of its ancient walls and surrounding but with all the modern bathroom, wifi amenties we needed. I would absolutely recommended this property when are visiting Split.

Everything was exceptional at Hotel Cardo. Ivan and his staff were amazing. They went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed a perfect stay at the property. Our room and view was wonderful. overlooking the ancient cobblestoned walkway in the heart of the Diocletian's Palace. Hotel Cardo seemlessly retains the beauty and heritage of the Palace completed by modern amenities for our comfort. I would definitely recommend this property as the best in Split and look forward to visiting there again.

We have experienced significant difficulty in having an issue resolved with Hotel Cardo which therefore results in our lower review of our stay in April 2024.

Amazing old hotel with original windows etc right in in the middle of the old town. Staff were so helpful and nice - couldn’t do more.

Room was tight but that is because it is the original building.
