    Pros +

    • Individual buildings for each unit, quiet, and beautiful view
    • Disgusting
    • The location is good with its proximity to Freedom Beach. However if you’re not on a motorbike taking very expensive taxis into town add up and make you isolated. The restaurant staff were lovely with our son which was appreciated.

    Cons -

    • Very dangerous property No rails on very steep steps Beach very dirty used condoms everywhere . Left early . Front office staff very rude Huge mosquitos ?
    • This hotel felt tired and rough around the edges, and we were not impressed by the treatment from management. My father was quite ill during our stay and was very dizzy, making walking the treacherous walkways dangerous. When I asked the manager if they could perhaps be changed to another, more accessible room the hotel manage raised her voice and lectured me that we should have done our research on Ko Tao and if we couldn’t walk over rocks then we shouldn’t have come. For the rest of our stay she avoided eye contact and not once asked after my father and his health. Besides the disrespect of management this hotel doesn’t deserve three stars as we found mouldy shower curtains in our rooms, trash on walkways and the wifi never worked in either of our rooms (which the staff told us was an island-wide outage but this wasn't the case every time we went into town). We will not be staying here again and would not recommend this hotel for young families or anyone that doesn’t feel comfortable walking on tiny walkways with hardly any railings or standing up to a hotel manager.
    • The staff were not helpful. We needed a moped and they wouldn’t help. Other hotels managed this very easily. They don’t want to help you find a moped as they want to charge you their high taxi fees. The food was awful and bland. The staff simply said hi and would not help with additional requests. The locks on the doors are padlocks and the windows didn’t close. Air con was not good. In general, it was not great compared to View Point across the bay which was better in every way: quality, support, price, meals, arranging mopeds and tours. Defo stay there over this place.

    Beautiful location, nice bungalows.

Beautiful location and charming bungalows, but everything else was ruined by the dishonesty of the management. The restaurant uses random internet photos on the menu that look nothing like the actual food, which was cheap and poorly made.Worse, the manager outright lied about my refund. I had to cancel three nights, and she confirmed the refund had been processed - but it never came. The refund deadline passed, no communication, and now they completely ignore my emails. This is not a misunderstanding - it’s intentional deception. I now have to go through my bank for a chargeback because they simply stole my money.I’ve stayed at this resort for years, but after this experience, never again. The manager’s behavior is disgraceful and unethical - a total betrayal of trust. I’ve lost all trust in their management. It’s disappointing to see a place I once loved handle guests this way.

We enjoyed our stay very much! It was so relaxing and quiet! And I couldn't get enough of this stunning veiw fron the balcony :) The service was excellent, very good restraunt in place. I wish we could stay longer.

The proximity to good snorkeling at Freedom Bay and the view made the stay. Otherwise it was just sort of ok.

Rooms weren’t clean. Bathroom was BASIC and had two empty bottles from previous visit that were never removed. Zero storage — no hooks, countertop space, nada. Staff warmed up, but you had to ask for everything. Get a room with a day bed outside, otherwise you’ll only sleep & shower there.

This is a very beautiful place with two semi-private beaches. The view is excellent, and the large rooms provide privacy. The oversized balcony offers a place to chill, relax, and hang clothes after a workout. The breakfast is very nice, with many options.

Those who like TV and coffee know you don't have the first, and there are no coffee machines at breakfast, only at the coffee shop bar. For those who dislike walking, realize you have many steps and stairs to your room. Though the beach is beautiful for swimming, the shallow water doesn't allow open-water swimming. Being beachfront property and our villa next to the restaurant

Would have loved a resort pool

    6SimonPosted on: 4-21-2025

The rooms were basic but comfortable and clean. The location of our room right on the beach and the view. The cleaners were friendly and efficient.

The reception staff were unfriendly and rude at times. The first time they communicated with us nicely was when we were leaving .. which maybe says it all! Other staff were fine, but significantly below all others at the 4 other hotels during our Thai holiday. The breakfast buffet had a decent choice but was low quality for the cost of the rooms. The location of the hotel is not too far from the edge of the town, i.e. the restaurants, but it's a difficult walk up and down a steep hill, and with no pavements; taxis aren't an option (cost) for this short distance.Rooms were a relatively high cost for the quality offered

Location: We recently stayed at this tranquil resort perched above Freedom Beach, and it offered both charm and character. Breaky: The breakfast was exceptional, featuring a generous spread of Thai favorites such as Pad Thai, fried rice, steamed veggies, and chicken, along with an omelet bar, fresh fruits and vegetables, croissants, breads, and traditional Central European spreads.Room/hut: The hut was well-sized, boasting a comfy bed, private balcony, and a modern bathroom with a refreshing shower and complimentary toiletries.Beach: The best beach is definitely Freedom Beach 02. Great for snorkeling, with vibrant underwater life, and an amazing beach bar offering free sunbeds and leisure areas for relaxationBonus points: The view of the bay area was breathtaking and truly made you feel as if you had entered paradise

Location: To get around, a motorbike is recommended. The nearest Seven Eleven is about a 15-minute, very hot, very sweaty walk away.Mobility: Due to its hillside layout, the resort may not be suitable for guests with limited mobility. There are many stairs, uneven pathways, and steep inclines throughout the property, which can be challenging for some.”Freedom Beach 01: it has very shallow water with cloudy visibility, making it less ideal for snorkeling or swimming near the shore. To truly appreciate its beauty, visitors need to swim further out, toward where the boats are anchored. Many mosquitoes

Unbelievable location, views from our view was incredible.. amazing at sunset! Immediate access to two secluded beaches, great for snorkelling.

If anything Breakfast options were quite limited in comparison to other places but still reasonable.

Our stay at Koh Tao Freedom Beach Resort was fantastic. From the smooth pick-up at the pier to an equally hassle-free departure, everything was well-organized. We stayed in one of the most secluded bungalows, and we truly appreciated the peace and the stunning views of the ocean and sunsets, which seem to be a common delight among the bungalows. The room was serviced daily, with fresh water bottles replenished each day. While the resort is a bit of a walk from the nearest restaurants and shops, the options to rent a scooter or grab a taxi right outside the hotel make it convenient. We chose to walk, which took about 10–15 minutes.Breakfast catered to every taste, offering a variety from hearty dishes and muesli to fresh fruits, and the food at the hotel restaurant was equally commendable. The staff was consistently friendly and attentive, always ready to help—contrary to some less favorable reviews we had seen.Overall, we were very pleased with our experience and would certainly choose to book this resort again!

Our stay was fantastic overall, but we did notice a couple of minor issues. The bed linens had a few yellow stains, which we understand can happen over time despite proper washing. Additionally, a bit more attention to removing stray plastic and trash around the property would enhance the overall impression. These are minor points, and given the price range, we felt they were worth mentioning.

The property itself it is very well located. It’s our 2nd year at this resort and the 1st year here made us come back. Next year we will not take the same decision.

We booked the seaview room with a bathtub on the deck. They didn’t give us that room and didn’t offer and explanation or solution. They provide a laundry service and they ruined all my tshirts. When I went to complain they said it had to be done with the company that they sent the clothes to. Doesn’t make any sense, if they provide the service they have to take accountability for it. Last is the staff, there is a lady, the older lady incharge of the reception is very rude and unpleasant.

    8MajaPosted on: 3-15-2025

Nice location with lots of beach access and great snorkling spots. Food and drinks available, same as pickup service from ferry. We loved the sun bed in front of the bungalow to watch the sunset.

The villas seem quite old and need a renovation. No hooks to simply hang stuff. Overall the staff was really rough and short-tempered. We didn’t feel the warm Thai hospitality at all.

    10DominikaPosted on: 3-6-2025

Excellent hospitality from the moment we got to Koh Tao. Had someone waiting for us at the pier, helped with bags and also got dropped off back to the pier on the last day. Beautiful views out the window and peaceful location, few steps away from the beach.Breakfast had a good selection including fruit, bread, various eggs, pad thai, fried rice. During our stay in Koh Tao there was a few days of heavy rain so we were really glad for the breakfast and their restaurant so we didn't have to go into the main town for those days.

It was hard to get around if you don't rent a scooter due to it's remote location, around 15 minutes walk to nearest shop or restaurants - it's walkable but quite hilly. Taxi to the other side of the island is around 300 baht.

    10TomaszPosted on: 3-4-2025

Perfect location (I don't thins there is a better place on the whole island). Superb two bays for swimming - one is better for snorkelling, the second is better for swimming/kids. Two nice bars on site. Great restaurand nest door.

    10DainoraPosted on: 3-1-2025

The best stay we could have ever hoped for! We loved absolutely everything—the location, the bungalow, the staff, and the breathtaking view from the terrace! If we ever come to Koh Tao again, we will definitely stay here!
