Tanote Villa, Koh-Tao

Beautiful site with lovely pools and gardens. Great breakfast included.

Pool area needs a few more loungers. Mats on loungers need replacing. Pool deck needs some work. (Loose boards, some rotting, some nail heads sticking up. Pool bar not open. Some wooden slats on pathway to beach need replacing.

Really enjoyed the swimming pools and breakfast with the view!!

Cleaning the kids would be great as this was really dirty

The staff, the view, the massage place, food. Reception Staff Pimyada went above and beyond to help me with all my questions, got me a fan because the AC in my room wasn’t working well, booked my massage, taxi’s, great recommendation about local nightlife and live music places. Also want to mention Pampam and Belle from the reception, the restaurant staff were amazing as well. A big highlight would be their masseuse at the massage place. Best massage I’ve had in Thailand so far. The snorkelling spot down from the hotel was convenient to access and very nice. Hotel provided free shuttle which made our life so much easier upon arrival.

The hotel is located inside the forest and extremely high which creates beautiful scenery. I also loved the animals, but it is not for everyone. The downside of it was the ants in the rooms.

The first room we stayed in, and later requested to move from, was very low and the climb back up to the entry was very inconvenient and difficult. The hotel is dirty, old, broken, and looks like a hostel inside the rooms rather than a hotel. The only rooms that were okay were the ones by the pool.The food in the restaurant was disgusting, which doesn't happen in Thailand, where the food is amazing. Since it is so far away, it is really inconvenient.It just feels old, neglected, not clean and that the owner simply doesn't care.It is extremely far away from the center, which honestly you could enjoy.. The idea is there, the far away getaway inside the jungle, but it is so neglected that it doesn't work.Also, last day, we saw a snake inside the restaurant.

The staff are very nice and helpful. There are fantastic pool and breakfast areas, comfortable beds and a good cooked to order breakfast. The garden setting with views of the ocean is very relaxing.

The bathroom plumbing wasn't vented correctly in our family villa so it smelled and the property doesn't have a gym. The walk to the beach would be difficult for anyone who isn't fit or has mobility issues.

Big room, nice pools and Tanote beach is very nice and they give you snorkelling mask.

The stuff not welcoming at all especially in the restaurant. Breakfast not good a lot of bugs in the fruits, breakfast only until 10 and then they close until 12 and then you can’t even get a coffee.The shower almost broken and very dirty.After 20:0 they turn off all the lights in the hotel in the place feels like a horror movie.I ordered a coffee to the pool and waited 20 min.We did not enjoy our stay and will not recommend this hotel.Even though the facilities are good (except cleaning) the vibe in the hotel is very bad and feels like abounded place.

The main advantage is the location. Away from the crowded parts of the island, and beautiful place with the best beach on the island (even though it's a 5 minute walk, it's worth it, and the walk is amazing, through the bushses. The pool is wonderful. Beautiful with a great view and nice size.

We stayed at the garden villas, so maybe some if our issues may not be relevant to other rooms. The advantage of the relatively secluded area has to be calculated against the fact there is no Bolt or Grab on the island, and the hotel shuttle is really limited. You can hire a bike, but the roads of the island are not easy to drive, and for inexperienced drivers, it could be quite challenging. Taxis on the island are 500/600 thb for each drive. So you need to take it into your considerations. The breakfast was quite limited, but we thought it was enough. The bar is also quite limited, but it wasn't bad. The facility itself is quite old. The rooms are rundown and the bathroom are not as clean as should be desired. The hotel is located within the woods, so animals and bugs are everywhere. We didn't mind (as long as they stayed out of the room), but unfortunately in one of our rooms there were ants coming out of the tap in the bathroom.... Also, our cabins were located comfortably near the pool, but the price was the smell of sewage, theat was really strong (coming from the opposite pool's plumbing). Also, The shower gel and the shampoo had terrible smell.Finally, the staff maintaining the rooms and the dinning room was nice enough and helpful, but the fronte desk's personnel were less accommodating and quite rigid (for example, we asked for a late checkout, to be able to synchronize with shuttle to the pier and despite the fact this was a readily available option in Booking, they refused).. The front desk itself works limited hours and the only way to contact them was through WhatsApp (that didjt work), and is unavailable during the night. Very strange. Overall, we would not recommend this hotel.

Two pools were refreshing to swim in during the hot weather. Restaurant staff were attentive, friendly and efficient. The location was quiet and had beautiful views over Tanote Bay and the Gulf of Thailand.Free transfers to and from Mae Haad were appreciated. Tanote Bay itself is a fantastic part of Koh Tao with swimming available on all tides and some world class snorkelling as soon as you walk in the water.

Mattress was a bit firm. Perhaps a mattress topper might soften it a bit. The construction of the villa requires air con to be used at all times while inside. The addition of a ceiling fan and screen door to keep insects out may allow for some natural cooling.

Amazing view from the hotel, close to the beach. Although it’s a bit far from the island’s city center, we actually saw this as an advantage - the area is quiet and relaxing. The property has two pools and a stunning landscape, making it the perfect place to unwind. Waking up every morning to that view was truly unforgettable.

The shower drainage wasn’t great, and the tap had a weak flow.More free rides to the island city center would be very helpful, since without a rented motorcycle you’ll need to rely on taxis.

Fantastic jungle hotel. Feels luxurious. Great pools and location to the best snorkeling beach. Tried 3 bays and this beach was the best for coral and fish.. Lovely beach restaurants too.Quiet.,clean, friendly hotel,great twice a day shuttle bus to port or town.Restaurant was good,never had a complaint. Are in beach at lunch and cocktails and food at the open air restaurant. Watched a storm come in over bay through jungle.,breathtaking views.The staff were wonderful. Would help with everything we needed. They made the stay extra special!

This is an excellent choice for a jungle get awayStaff are amazing, friendly and so helpful.The beach is a step downand uphill! But completely managed.The beach has amazing corals and fish. One of the best bays on the island on your doorstep. Great restaurants on beach,cheap and tasty. Toilets and mask hire etc.Beautiful infinite pools with jacuzzi. Views of jungle paradise...it real5 feels like you're in the middle of jungle!No other restaurants around. ( Everything closes about 9pm.but 4 of us had dinner every night,, plus cocktails,4 nights and Lunches. Total cost was acceptable. Beautiful rooms and lodges. Beds so comfortable.Highly recommend for a few nights on tao. Whole island is a hill. 2 hour crossing cam be bumpy! Ferry cost 5000bht return for 4.Taxi from hotel to other beaches easy plus free shuttle taxi 4 times a day greatLoved it..

Resort dependant other that taxi to town. Definitely a party island but this resorts away from it all.

There was a free shuttle to and from the pier. This worked amazing for us, since the cabs ons koh tao are pricey. The staff was also really great.

The location can be a bit inconvenient, but if gyou rent a moped it is still amazing and nice to be on the quiet side of the island.

Intermittently neighbors will burn garbage and smell is not pleasant.It was not an issue for us, but be aware hotel is in a hill. To go to the beach you will need to go down stairs.

Phenomenal location, close to the beach and with an amazing view!The food and drinks were exceptional and the staff was very kind and always helpful!

The bedsheets were a little bit dirty and always slipped out when you moved around in the bed, that was a bit annoying.

We loved everything about Tanote Villa. It was 5* hotel, we had a beautiful deluxe room with a pool access which was amazing. The room itself was huge, perfectly equipped, very relaxed. The hotel itself was beautiful, very well decorated. We loved the restaurant and the breakfast? Wow!!! One of the best we ever had with a breathtaking views. They offered gyoza and dim sum, egg as you wish, variety of Thai food and drinks. The location was excelent, just 5 mins walk to the beach with one of the best snorkeling spots in Thailand. 100%!!!

Beware that the beach has rough sand that is not easy to walk on and that gets lots of mosquitoes at sunset. The path down to the beach should be better maintained by the resort.

Generally a very good couple of days here, the rooms were very pleasant, and the pool has a lovely view.

The only things were, the breakfast was underwhelming and the pools could do with some TLC.

The large pool was lovely and the rooms spacious. The fabric hanging in the main dining area is lovely. Wonderful effect.

The food wasn’t amazing but it was ok. We also found the staff weren’t very happy especially the ladies at the front counter. Many of them were distracted by their phones. Sadly like many places now. The boys in the bar did their best but we’re pretty slow. Luckily we didn’t have too much competition during happy hour! Not sure where everyone was?!?!
