Koh Tao Montra Resort & Spa

Lovely, spacious room in a great location. The pool was great with plenty of sun loungers and right on the beach. Nice reception area with plenty of relaxing chairs.I especially liked the restaurant, as there was a great selection of food, an amazing singer / guitarist who played in the evenings and a beautiful view over the bay.

The Wifi was patchy in the rooms, but always available in the lounge area.

The guy working at the pool made our stay! He was so fun and happy all the time, playing music and dancing. We would return just to see him : )

Located in the middle of Mae Had and Sairee. Beautiful view of the sea, awesome pool. Attentive and helpful staff. Great experience overall.

The people were very kind. The place was beautiful. And the price quality was nice. Breakfast was in general good.

The pool was old, some tiles were broken. The airco has a weird smell.

The facilities themselves are quite outdated and should be better cleaned. for example when going through the restaurant area, there is not the best smell. Also, the Wi-Fi is not good.

Staff were incredibly friendly. Location to pier was great. Quiet location - plenty of available loungers by the pools.

- Swimming pool. One was always in use by scuba drivers so wasn't available and the other stank of mould and was very dirty. - breakfast - very limited choice. - Room - my bed was basically two mattresses on the floor which seemed odd for a beach front villa.

I like the pool bar, although the drinks were just OK. majority of the staff were very friendly and always smiled .

I felt like a lot of the chairs and towels were older and some of the towels had bleach stains on them, you also had a one towel policy with a key card, which made it really annoying too return and get your towels, which should be a really basic thing that guests shouldn’t have to worry about.

This was our first visit to Koh Tao and the location of the Montra Resort was perfect. It was right on the beach and close to the main area where a lot of shops and restaurants are, so it was easy to walk to most places when needed. The pool is great and with lots of loungers, it was the perfect place to relax for the day. The rooms very big and spacious and lots of cupboard space and a huge comfortable bed. The staff were amazing and the resort offers free transfers from and to the main pier where the ferry's are. The day we left they even sent extra staff to help carry our bags to the check in at the pier, amazing service. The resort has a resident diving school that can arrange all your diving needs, we used their services for a full day snorkeling trip around the island. This was in a "long tail" boat that was dedicated to us for the day and they took us to all the best sites to snorkel at, it was the highlight of our holiday.

I don't think there was anything we didn't like at this resort, the only small comment I can make is on the coffee at breakfast, although it was good brewed coffee, there weren't options for something like a cappuccino or latte at breakfast, nothing serious.

The breakfast is good. Having a dive center on the property is also very convenient.

The building is getting old and not receiving proper maintenance. Definitely not a real 4 star. Plumbery is leaking everywhere and tiles are broken in many parts of the building and the pool. Pool water not very clean but heavily chlorinated. Reception staff are somewhat rude compared to what we have experienced elsewhere. Their restaurant is expensive compared to the rest of the island but their food is good.

Unfortunately I had food poisoning so I went here instead of a hostel. The hotel is amazing. The rooms are spacious and the beds are really comfy and enormous. I also got a free upgrade upon arrival, which was really sweet. Recommend!

The location is central for boats trips, walking into Sairee beach at night and was quiet. Loved the view from breakfast and that you can have dinner on the beach as well as cocktails at sunset on bean bags. Liked that we had interconnecting rooms really helpful as a family and they were very spacious rooms.

The hotel was fired looking, needs a general paint job and some updating. the few sun lingers on the beach were tatty and broken that area under the palms could have been made to be lovely.

Where should I start…. We really don’t understand how this hotel is allowed to use a four star rating??The rooms were dirty and in absolute need of renovation. In the bathroom, towel rails were hanging halfway down the wall, so you had to be careful not to catch your eyes on them as you walked past. Very dangerous. The safe did not work in several rooms either. The bathroom itself was poorly cleaned or not cleaned at all. After three days stay you should get new towels. We only received these after five days and only on request. The staff at reception were super annoyed and unfriendly. Only one employee at the pool bar was very friendly and fun. The breakfast had very little choice. On the first two mornings we only had instant coffee. There was no coffee machine at the buffet. The towels at the pool were mostly damp, torn and smelled of damp.

Breakfast standard, nothing outstanding, nice view over the ocean. vegans almost no options beside fruits. the facility looks a bit oldish and not really modern. the resort will be used as a lunch spot for daily tours so it can get louder and busy around midday. some stuff member are extremely friendly and caring, others on the other hand dont really like to bother. diving school offers directly there, the discoverer course was all in all okay. the wifi is almost never working and the mobile signal in some areas is weak e.g in the room. the location is pretty good, close restaurants, the pier just 5 walking min. pool was nice with a bar in the middle of it.
