About

Set within a 100-hectare farm, Summerfields has riverside rooms with outdoor showers. The pool, open-air spa area and restaurant are by Sabie River, where hippos bathe at dusk. With wooden furniture and luxury linen, each room has a private deck and bath overlooking the forest. The villa has natural stone features and a covered terrace. The spa offers treatments including massages, aromatherapy and rose-based beauty therapies. A lounge with library and Wi-Fi faces the river, while another has satellite TV. Activities include guided tours among the roses and macadamia trees. The River Cafe provides breakfast, lunch and dinner and the menu is reviewed weekly. A candle-lit dinner is possible at the riverside restaurant. Barbecue facilities are available at the family houses. The Villa and Stonehouse are not part of the main camp and are located 0.6 mi from the reception, but closer to the main gate. Guests will require their own vehicle should they like to travel between the houses and the main camp. Nearby are a tree-top walkway and mountain biking and hiking trails. Kruger National Park is 11 mi away and Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport is 31 mi. Dogs are allowed on request and only in our Family Stonehouse and Villa. Please contact us before making a booking.

The setting is beautiful and the rooms and resort in general are very tastefully decorated. Luxury while surrounded by nature. The food was delicious.

Beautiful retreat experience, hidden in the jungle and with excellent service and comfortable rooms.

    Pool a little small.

Incredible location, relaxing environment and friendly staff.

The bar had limited cocktail items but besides that it was superb

Timber suite, the quality of food at the restaurant (breakfast and dinner), the farm tour and the Spa.The service was great and the staff are helpful and cheerful.

    Area where accommodation was situated

No air-conditioning in 3 of the 5 bedrooms. Microwave not working, washing not working, sky lights leaking water when raining, no swimming towels. Electrical wiring faults (lights turning on / off randomly)

Fantastic interior, beautiful room and absolute lovely located right next to the river. The drive over the fields passing various trees and garden sights is spectacular. Great attention to detail.

Do not leave anything in the room. We arrived, brought our baggage to the room and went for dinner. When we came back around an hour later, the whole room was cleaned and taken care of, very good service. Anyways the next morning we had planned to go on a game drive around 4 am when we noticed one of our bags with passports, car keys, wallets (200€ in cash) was missing. We immediately communicated this to the front desk before leaving for the day, only to find the bag back in its place when we returned from the game drive - apparently with all of the cash missing, luckily our passports have been returned as we already have had contacted the german embassy at this point. It is so sad that we have to bring this point up, because the resort is absolute stunning and we were so impressed by everything. Apparently this incident has left quite a negative impression on us that we did not recover from. The situation was being inspected by the management, but without any outcome.

The serene ambiance, the refreshing outdoor shower, the indulgent coffee scrub spa, and the tranquil sleep by the river accompanied by soothing white noise wow what a hidden gem to relax, recharge, and rejuvenate! Definitely coming back...

The entrance by the gate may cause some uncertainty, making you question if you're at the right place.

Lovely spacious accommodation, very close to the Kruger Park. Friendly and helpful staff. Would stay here again.

Everything - it is a magical place. The whole experience was perfect. From the delightful staff welcoming us at the gates, through the scenic drive through the orchard, welcome drinks and facility tour, beautiful setting, great food, and the most unbelievable room, we can’t wait to come back.

Our villa was absolutely gorgeous, the lush greenery on the property and the sound of the water from the river was so calming.

The restaurant was far from our accommodation, there were golf carts to assist. We had to drive to and fro all the time.

The Staff is always friendly and thorough to create a clean environment. They always make sure you feel like the best guest there.

The route can sometimes loose you into the gravel road instead of another route. Too many off ramp to R536

The serenity, nature, the food, the beautiful house. Getting pampered in nature, with the sound of the river and birds was just something else

The wifi at stone family house was non existent and it was therefore frustrating because being a remote place, the network on our phones was poor

    10RiaPosted on: 9-24-2024

The gardens and setting on the Sabie river is amazing. Staff members were super helpful.

    8BusiPosted on: 9-24-2024

    The views and beautiful landscape.

I got sick from drinking the water that was supposed to be filtered. That was off putting. There weren’t a lot of options for Vegan food.

10/10 and then in terms of the restaurant 2/10 as well as certain very important birthday arrangements and timing was just late and not ready at all. The rest was wonderful. The spa massages were just above average and the restaurant really needs attention to all aspects. In terms of everything, absolute bliss but in terms of restaurant and added services, bring this from a 10/10 to a 6/10. We love this place and expected consistency in everything.

Love the location and cleanliness of the room.Absolutely calming. Heater and electric blankets to keep you very warm during winter. Comfortable. Love the gentleman at the front gate - really set the tone for my 2 day stay. The staff were amazing, Sandra was super helpful from my booking. Mumsie radiates such positivity and professionalism when you see her. It's absolutely lovely. The restaurant, breakfast, dinner was amazing. My massage was amazing!

The toilet smelt of urine. Even tho it was cleaned daily. The toilet pan was dirty - looks like it was stained. Needs maintenance. The first night, turndown was so late. The second turndown was almost not going to be done. I had to ask the staff I saw along the walkway.

The property is stunning. The views and the rooms gorgeous. However, this beauty is only skin deep.

My car broke down on the way to the resort. I phoned and asked if I could move my trip because now I didn’t have a car. The Director refused - said if I don’t come she loses money for this weekend. My moved stay would have made them more money but no, they refused to help me. I needed to find another car, got stuck in traffic, the drive took 7 hours. It was a bad start. Then, when I left, the security guard refused to let me leave because I didn’t have a stamped letter. The day before I’d paid in full so I could leave early, I’d asked reception if there were rules or if I needed to know anything about the gate and they said no. Imagine my surprise when the guard closes the gate and tells me to drive back and sort it out. At 6:30am when nobody is there. I explain I’ve paid, he tells me no. Eventually I get out the car to open the gate myself and he physically threatens me, climbs right up into my face and pushes me against the gate by walking forward. I pushed him away. Then a colleague of his arrived and showed him how my proof of payment had been sent to his phone. He’d had the information all along. Did he let me out? No. He carried on shouting at me until the ladies let me out. I did lose my temper for sure but being treated like a criminal will do that. This place is obsessed with money - you’re not a guest, you’re a bank account. Has the resort apologised for the guard? No - I was told I was in the wrong because I hadn’t given a more specific departure time. Even though I’d checked, told them I’d leave between 6-7. Don’t go here, if anything goes wrong they will treat you badly. The staff are lovely but the rules they have to work with are not. I’m sure the guard has been terrified into his stance with me.
