    Pros +

    • Breakfast was good and their supper was worth the price. The distance to the Pabeni gate (Kruger park) is close. Overall good value for money.
    • Beautiful location. Clean and friendly staff. Breakfast was great.
    • Breakfast buffet was adequate offering an adequate selection of hot and cold food. Staff were friendly and fantastic . They even remember your name including the security guard at the resort gate! The location of this resort is superb with easy access to all amenities, activities, and easy driving distance to Kruger National Park.

    Cons -

    • That there was not an extra chair on the balcony only one chair, for the price you pay for the room there should have been at least a few DSTV stations and there was no seating place in the room to watch TV or to sit and relax. No couch or chairs. You need to sit on the bed to watch TV and the reception was not clear.
    • Breakfast staff could check on empty food bowls more often and replenish them.Wifi reception in guest rooms is poor. There is no TV in room(wasn't a problem for us). No kids play area.
    • Nothing. All was perfect

Hippo Hollow is absolutely lovely! The photos on booking.com don't really do it justice. Meals were delicious, staff were courteous and helpful, our chalet was perfect & we will definately be back! The beds were incredibly comfortable and the extra blankets came in handy.

The staff were friendly and so helpful. Felt like home. View stunning. Rooms comfortable. Food delicious. Added bonus seeing hippos and elephants every day from our verandah. Close to Kruger national park too. And all can be arranged through them.

    Nothing. All was perfect

Hippo hollow was a fantastic place to stay close to Kruger and other sights, the breakfast was fantastic, the staff packaged breakfasts when we least early and the staff were super helpful and friendly overall - and we got to see a couple of hippos as wells

    Nothing in particular

The property was green, clean and pleasant to be in. The staff were very friendly and the food was tasty. We managed to see some hippos.

We arrived around 5pm, unpacked our luggage (there were about 6 pieces of luggage) and went to the restaurant inside the lodge at roughly 6:45pm. We took photos of all our luggage and the zippers because that’s what we usually do when we leave. We closed the door and put a do not disturb sign on. We came back at 8:30pm to find that someone targeted only one of the bags. The one that had the documents and spare wallet. None of the other bags were touched. They opened all the pockets of that bag and got the spare wallet out. I assume they used an RFID scanner to pick out the specific bag because it was the only one with cards (tap to pay) and passports in it. I alerted the manager to this right away but she told me she couldn’t help me. She said she will alert the directors because this is not the first time someone tried to explain this issue. Nothing appears to be missing except the information was stolen.

Lodging was a good value for money and the restaurant had nice view of the Sabie River. We had elephants in view across the river. Breakfast was good with a good selection of items on the buffet. The rooms were quiet and suitable for a short stay.

A bit of road noise on the viewing deck and several large busses full of people arriving at once.

Great chalets with decks overlooking the river!Charming rooms, clean and comfortable.Entire lodge setting was so unique and staff were very helpful and friendly.Highly recommend.

    Wish we stayed longer!

Very friendly staff, clean and tidy chalet, breakfasts were on point, the aircon was working perfectly for both cooling and heating!

Wifi only in public areas, but that’s the idea, right? To relax, put your phone aside and have a digital detox while looking at the river and the gentle giants strolling on the other side

The room was big, spacious, clean and very much comfortable to our stay. The best compliment is definitely the friendly staff members who welcomed us.

The facility does not have WiFiThe TV switched but the remote doesn't work to change channels or turn up the volume. We exchanged the remote but still couldn't get it work with the assistance from staff

    8MphoPosted on: 4-25-2025

The stuff was welcoming and friendly

They were no braai facilities at the chalets and no microwave to warm your take away food ...Otherwise, the place was nice and very much peaceful.

Overall Stunning, beautiful view at restaurant. Outside walls of the Hotel room looked amazing with creeper growing all over it.

Our Room was ok for price, but the shower drain made hideous noises all night, most probably from the top floor units showering .. even got recording of the sound. Never complained

    10GuanaPosted on: 4-22-2025

The breakfast was scrumptious, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The place is so surreal, and the Sabie River runs next to the property is incredible. Too bad we didn't see the Hippos, but we enjoyed our stay

Everything was perfect, nothing to change.

    8MashuduPosted on: 4-22-2025

Breakfast, the river view by the restaurant, and the pools

The lady that served us dinner on Sunday was not friendly at all (Our slip was written Zanele assuming that is her name, she has dreadlocks).

Location is very good. Staff is professional and helpful

    Dinner wasn’t to my satisfaction

    10Sthe H.Posted on: 4-21-2025

There was a buffet breakfast with an amazing spread. The rooms are spacious with great views of the river and elephants in the distance.

    10KwelePosted on: 4-21-2025

Firstly that it is very accessible, the facilities are stunning with breathtaking views

Maybe a bit of pathway lighting would help since there is wildlife that comes onto the property

    8NkatekoPosted on: 4-13-2025

Food at the restaurant was amazing. Breakfast selection was great. Spotted some hippos while dining which was nice.

Hippo Hollow certainly deserves its high rating on Booking.com - beautiful location, well presented and prepared accommodation, helpful staff, good food...highly recommended
